Not sure I understand your unlocked comment. If you don't buy under a plan aren't they unlocked?

I don't know whether you are in the United States or not, so this may or may not apply to you. In the U.S., AT&T, T-mobile and Sprint will have their phones locked to their network even if you pay full price. AT&T will unlock a phone if you've paid it off. I don't know T-mobile's and Sprint's unlock policies.

I have read in multiple places that Verizon is required to leave its phones unlocked due to an agreement with the FCC for certain LTE spectrum.

The correct move with this phone is to buy it, or its presumed successor, sometime between Spring and Fall of 2018. In the mean time, use your current phone, buy an 8, whatever. I have an 8 on the way, but will be upgrading to the X series mid to late next year

Part of me is thinking I should just get the 8 for now and grab the newer version of the X next year. I feel like those not lucky enough to get the first batch are going to be waiting until January to get their phones.

I highly doubt Apple would have given a release date if they were having this many production issues. Of course supply will be constrained just like every new non-S iPhone release.

They haven't even STARTED production yet?! This can't be real, I thought they typically started production like months in advance?!
They also typically launch iPhones a week after announcing them. This release is going to be very different. And by "very different", I mean a sh*t show...

What a mess. Samsung will be ready to pounce. Apple will likely be 1 year behind on new technology features soon.

Samsung Wireless Charging - April 2017

Apple Wireless Charging - November 2017

This is when each company releases their phones. It has nothing to do with having or not having the technology at the same time. Apple always does late summer/early fall release. Samsung does Spring.

iPhone 8 and X sales for 2017 will be exactly the same. 3 people have bought the iPhone 8, while 3 people will be able to buy the iPhone X...

If there is a massive swing towards the iPhone X over the iPhone 8 then we can kiss goodbye to the £699 entry price of future new iPhone models and say hello to £999.

This whole aniversary angle is just an excuse to hike prices and everyone is falling for it.

Why do people keep referring to Kuo as some sort of analyst God? he is routinely wrong!

Ming isn't perfect, but he tends to be correct more often than other analysts.

He has called a number of things correctly that others have missed. For example he called the re-introduction of the iPad 4 after it had been discontinued. That was a first for Apple to re-introduce a product that had already been discontinued.

Said it right after the keynote.. they should have never ever said the official preorder and release dates for this product. Just say preorder in the fall and be done with it. It was obvious they were constrained big time on this release and with the misplacement of touch id.. which yes.. was suppose to be built into the screen spacing away from iPhone 8 would have made a lot more sense. No way they fill orders before Christmas on X. You'll be lucky to get one before End of Q1 2018.

And you believe everything these so called analysts say? I bet you believe them when they say your amazing, good looking and the best human being ever! lol

I think we are over exaggerating. We here one article and it becomes armageddon. Apple will have plenty of supply for the end of this year. My guess is about 30-40 million units by the end of this year.

Also its dumb to buy the iPhone X around Jan/Feb as this leaves no one to upgrade once the iPhone XI releases in 2018. I believe Apple releases a smaller version of the X along with a Plus model for 2018, but making improvements in battery charging and CPU/GPU speed and iOS 12 enhancements. So the upgrade won't feel as drastic but offer up multiple sizes in their lineup for 2018.

I guess there’s some time for other reports to confirm or deny this report just hope to get it in November. If tariffs in UK are so big i have to hope it puts some off but doubt it.

Not just iPhones, but all flagship smartphones. Granted, the iPhone X is quite a bit more expensive to produce than previous models. I read somewhere that the OLED display alone was about $75 more than the LCD displays they've been using. On a device that only costs about $200 to make, that's pretty significant.

You guys think the X is going to be so successful based on pre-ordering constraints/issues, and that pre-ordering the 8 was the easiest launch in the history of apple, you couldn't be more wrong. Pre-ordering will be a nightmare because Apple is restricting production volume based on supply chain issues, not because of demand. You guys think if the X sells out in just a few hours it is a success when in reality its Apple who can't solve their supply chain issues.

At this rate, it will be 2019 before some will see their phone! I heard someone they are only cranking out 1k phone a day or something.
