My wife and I both had Zagg protectors on our iPhone 6's. She dropped her iPhone once and it cracked the protector but the iPhone display was fine. Zagg sent her a new protector at no charge. I had the same thing happen, but it was such a small crack I left it alone until I upgraded to the X. It protected my display on the 6 as well, so I was interested in getting another Zagg for the X. Unfortunately the reviews were pretty bad... mostly about the fit, but it was for a different Zagg. The one you linked to is a newer model I'm guessing? So maybe fit is better? It's also front and back, which I guess is why it's so expensive. It would probably be worth trying if you want front and back caseless protection. Otherwise I'm pretty happy with the Icarez protector which was much less expensive. Hopefully it offers comparable protection.

I completed my installation of a dbrand skin and the icarez 3d full front (not case friendly) glass protector. I've included some pictures so you can see coverage of the glass protector and the skin.

The icarez glass protector I bought was the below one, since there is some lack of clarity about their product line:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077M3V6LC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I installed the dbrand skin first so I was unable to use the tray for the screen protector install. The extra width of the skin made the phone too large to fit in the install tray without popping out. Fortunately with a steady hand and a lot of patience I was able to get a good alignment with several restarts in about 10 minutes before getting comfortable with the alignment to place the protector down on the screen. For $17 for a two pack that get out all the way to the edge of the front glass it's a great deal. The screen clarity is unaffected. I wouldn't purchase a more expensive one. The recommendations in this thread for the icarez is spot on. I'm glad I found this thread and became aware of them.

The skin install was very time intensive but all things considered I was pleased with the outcome. Application was certainly easier than the wet apply ones that were the only ones available in the iPhone 3GS and before days. The corner flaps take a long time to get right and mine aren't perfect, as you can see in the pictures. But it's good enough. The flaps are noticeable when you come across them while holding, picking up or touching the phone, but it's not unpleasant (at least to me). Dbrand says that the black dragon skin that I bought is "super-grippy" or whatever they claim, but I don't find that to be the case. It's textured, yes, but I wouldn't say grippy. That said, I like the texture.

I used my iPhone 6 for 3+ years naked, so I was a little rusty applying the protector and skin, but as long as you budget for a lot of time and patience it can be done well. It's never as easy as the videos make it out to be, but that's marketing! I really wanted to use the X naked too but the glass back (along with the exorbitant repair cost) and the reporting of surface scratching on the screen had me considering alternatives. Cases don't appeal to me and I was already sensitive of the extra width of the X as compared to 6.

I don't know how the pictures will come out as I only took them with the camera on the 6, and whether you'll be able to tell where the icarez and dbrand extend to, but hopefully it will help others in decision making. I recommend both.

Edit: Too many pictures. This post will have ones primarily showing the screen protector.

Everything that you just said, I did the EXACT same thing! Haha!

Except I got a red dragon skin instead. As you mentioned, I tried putting the install tray on to give it a try but didn't get too far as I could feel the tray damaging the edges of the skin so I took it off (the tray I mean).

And yes, as you mentioned it was a pain putting the glass protector on. I did it in a steamy bathroom with a can of air, I think it took me about 30 mins due to dust sticking on the protector and having to constantly use the dust stickers to remove it.

A couple questions for you:
  1. Were you not able to get the corner flaps to stretch further to be in line with the middle of the skin? The 2 corners of the top and bottom of mine has some exposed aluminum because the flaps were cut too short
  2. Are you planning on putting a case on it?....I installed it Sunday and plan to let the adhesive heal for a couple of days before putting on a flexible TPU case

A note about the iCarez. I ordered the 2.5d two pack w/ install tray and it came with both protectors shattered. I put in for a refund and went to order another set but they were out of stock so I ordered the 2.5d two pack without install tray. They look identical but they are actually different dimensions. The install tray version is about 0.5mm bigger so you can't use the tray to install the non tray version.
Bubbles post install were pressed out fairly easily.

Well, mine arrived today, and when I saw the packaging, I thought I had the same issue. How they both survived is beyond me... IMG_1178.JPGIMG_1177.JPG

The red one looked nice, but opted for the muted look of the black.

1. 3 of the 4 flaps I have a extremely skinny, hairline-ish gaps between the middle portion and the flap, and the 4th is perfectly flush. This could be a result of an imprecise cut or an imperfect application. Without measuring the skin before install it's impossible to say which it is, but considering the high degree of difficulty of application, I'd say it's the latter. I'm also not a perfectionist, so while I started the flaps over a couple of times each to try and get the best install I could, once it was down I didn't try to re-do them. The gaps are slim and don't bother me much.

2. I'm not going to use a case. I really prefer naked and have used most of my iPhones like that, but the X changed my calculus because of the combination of cost and fragility. To me, the skin and edge to edge glass screen protector is a fair compromise to naked.

So we have a new iPhone with new big oled screen and it’s time to get organized and order a screen protector.
It will be great if all of us show the screen protector we want - glass , edge to edge or regular .

The only one I found until now is the Olixar

It will be helpful.

Thanks

I have the icarez red box that has the black 2.5d outline. I recently got a deal on vipon for https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B077YK4NV5/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and I have to say this is better in almost everyway. Previously I felt that the icarez was the best, but this significantly better. The install was easier, it seems to stick better to the screen. The black outline is properly drawn in so it lines up perfect with the black border of phone and nothing on the screen gets cut off. Also there were parts of the icarez that looked like there was distance between screen and protector, like the screen was further way. With this one I can't tell the protector is there. Just of note, this is not a full 3d protector, you will be able to feel the edges just like icarez, just the quality seems better.

What about the touch screen responsiveness? I tried an Arbalest some weeks ago on my X and it was a complete mess with the touch screen.
[doublepost=1515747266][/doublepost]i've tried this screen protector (brad: Coolreal). It woud be great if it wouldn't give this crappy effect on the edges. I've tried many installs, but even if it's prefectly centered the edges don't grip perfectly.

Any suggestion?

Does anyone know when Belkin is going to release the updated iPhone X Glass Screen Protector to the Apple Stores?

I just had a Zagg glass+ installed by AT&T and it took them 4 tries to make it acceptable.

Frves,

you should have gone with Icarez and the tray and done it yourself.

cant beat that protection, tray, and price for 2 screens.

Yes it would be good to know when, they said the end of January but it would be nice to have a guaranteed date

I went with iCarez. The 2D + installation tray version. The tray works well as a guide, had some dust issues with the first one, the second one went on well. Coverage looks gook and it works well with my case: https://www.nativeunion.com/clic-canvas/

Does this have a hard edge or rounded edge?

The last screen protector I had was a hard edge and I kept rubbing my thumb on it when swiping up from the home area.

Slightly rounded I would say. With a case, I am not having an issue with rubbing. Without a case, I'd guess you'd hit the edge more easily. I think the "3D" version is recommended if you aren't using a case.

Thank you. I’ll placed my order.

I thought I’d give another glass screen shield a try that wouldn’t have the dust collection issue at the very top of the iPhone X and ordered the OTAO X-Lambo from Amazon. It comes with the usual cleaning and install items, 2 protectors and an install tray for alignment. Using the typical method of running the hot shower to steam up the bathroom to keep the dust down, I used the tray and installed it perfectly aligned the first time. The thing that is different from others I’ve used is this reminds me of the shields on the 7+, where the glass edge is the exact size of the viewable screen. There is no overlap or any sort of black border so the glass must be aligned correctly to avoid the edge rainbow effect. The adhesive was ok, but caused some bubble issue on one side that took me some time to work out. After that, it was crystal clear. I personally prefer a shield that is 2.5 with the black edge so when using a case it seems like there is no shield on at all, but if you're looking for viewing area protection, this will suit your needs.

Hey fellas, I just uploaded a video to my YouTube channel TECH-FIGHTER of the Nova Bumper with a dBrand dragon skin. Check it out and let me know what you think. The combo looks fabulous IMO.

I must admit that I never liked the dragon texture skin but your combo looks very good!
