I have a 6s and honestly will not be upgrading this year because the XR is too large and the XS is too expensive.

I'm OK with spending $700-$800ish for a smartphone, but $1000+ is just pushing it too far for me.

Even the X feels too large, and the XR is just stupid big.

Chances are, you'll love the XR. The battery life alone is just spectacular, I've been using it all day today since I woke up early, including about an hour of calls, and it's now almost bedtime and I'm at 58% battery left. I've never owned a phone with this kind of battery life except for maybe old non-smart phones. The screen is great and so is the camera. The 128GB is the perfect capacity for my use. I don't miss 3D Touch at all except for some reason you can't long-tap lock screen notifications but I think that might be an oversight on Apple's part, I hope they fix this in a software update.

For me, coming from the 7, the XR's weight and size increase are quite substantial but I'm gonna give it a good try in the coming week to see if I can really get used to it. If not, an XS will be ordered. If that happens, I sure will miss the battery life.

I ordered the 128GB option, too. That also played into ordering the XR. I’m going to be really disappointed if I don’t like it. I’m afraid the fonts of the X/XS (no display zoom) would be too small to me, and the price of the Max is simply too high for me to justify.

Maybe stupid big for YOU, but not for many of us. Actually, stupid big comment is just stupid.

I have an Xr. Doesn’t feel big at all. Easily fits in my pocket. The max didn’t feel big either. In fact I could stand to have a phone substantially larger.

Sure, it can fit in a pocket. I can also fit it in my pocket. But the issue is to use it one-handed. I still believe it’s too big for that.

I went to the Apple store just to test out the XR and thought it was too big. I’m looking to upgrade from a busted 6s and don’t really see a new iPhone that works for me.

Then your only really option is the 5.8 Variant. Because if you look at Apple‘s current offerings, its the only middle ground option between the 6.1 and 6.5. Unless you opt for the 4.7 iPhone 8.

after using almost all of apple's iphones for almost a decade i want 4.5" or 4.7" pure screen no bezels, no notch, no touch id, light weight iphone.

Yep, I think there are a lot of us hoping for either either an XR or an XS that is smaller (but with the bigger screen) than the iPhone 6. At least for me the cost isn’t the factor, it is the size.

You’ll be waiting for a very very very very long time then! Signals have been Apple wants to go big and big only. We will have to see but I think the 4.7” size is dead with Apple now going forward.
Maybe they’ll do a budget X with an LCD screen, oh but then people will moan and complain about the bezels being 1mm thicker oh darn..... or that you can see the pixels when the phones a centimetre from your nose. Damn it...

How small are all of your hands to not be able to use these devices one handed? I have an xs max and regularly use it one handed. My hands are probably average sized.

That’s what’s most people actually need. They just don’t know it.

No. They didn’t. Those who are absolutely cash starved will buy XR. There are others who will stick to X/XS/2019 X and so on. In 2019 assuming these same sizes are available I’ll upgrade my 2017 X to a 2019 then X 5.8”. I have no choice. XR is way too big. The same goes for many people.

If they did it in a louder fashion it would become too obvious.

I'd wager anyone 'cash starved' will keep their existing phone.

You need to get over yourself. Have you any idea how stupid you sound? You always have a choice. People moaned when there wasn't any choice, now Apple have a much wider choice of options/configs and people like you still moan and claim it's all a conspiracy to push people towards the Xs.

If you are that unhappy then who's the fool for still buying an iPhone? Just get yourself an Android phone that fits within your required dimensions & budget and stop moaning.

Without a case, the phone is great for one handed use.

Loopy case is where it’s at for using the phones one-handed.

And no I’m not in any way affiliated with them, but I’ve brought it up a lot in the threads because the case is awesome for one-handed use.

Yes it´s big and heavy, but I can´t stand to the old design after using the XR....

6, 7 and 8 feels so out dated and the 8 too expensive for that design (is a beast inside, but that huge bezels....)

An XR Mini with the size and weight of the 7 would be awesome (and no notch even better hehe)

sure it can fit in pocket ( I can squeeze a trade paperback book in there haha) but feels like crap carrying that brick; people pretend to feel comfortable with these brick phones due to large screen but in reality its all work with two hands nonstop like zombies or hypnotized people just observe around you its all two handed operation with head in screen like zombies people think if they have a phone its their life when in fact they are losing life by getting immersed into their phones nonstop cat even walk sidewalks without looking into their screens even adults do it looks pathetic...anyway thats another topic haha

whats so outdated its just a phone and they all do same thing pretty much; many dont like slippery all glass phones also and since they do not provide anything special but charge much more for memory basically and ugly notch some people just buy 7 or 8 its same crap; Apple stopped innovating nice designs with SE all other phones after SE are ugly same like samsung and a little bezel (like google pixel) is fine so you can hold it someowhere; I still prefer home button too especially when getting alarms and such i know instantly how to cancel it in my pocket while these crappy phones you have to take out and use two hands like monkey

you mean to hold in one hand but you still need to use second hand to operate as the screen is too large for ONE HANDED operation...people can hold in one hand even larger brick size phones but must use second hand thats the whole point

Actually, no, that’s not what I mean. I mean hold AND use the phone with the same hand. Not sure why this is so difficult for you to comprehend. With the case I use on my XR (and on my PLUS phones before it), it’s quite easy for me to reach with my thumb all the way to my top left folder to open anything in there I need, AND I can easily reach all the keys on the keyboard to type and send a text if needed, not to mention swiping up from the bottom to close apps, AND swiping down from the top to access those functions. Just because you can’t or don’t choose to do that doesn’t mean I’m lying about it.

Well I'd say with millions upon millions of iPhones sold since the SE, not everyone shares your opinion.

Of course it is. It's a two-handed phone. But it's easy to one-hand it to simply view content. As far as big phones go, it's one of the more compact ones. So if the XR is too big for you, you're just not meant to own a modern phone. Not many companies are making small phones any longer.

You're right, phones are getting bigger. But there's still a large segment of customers who would prefer smaller phones. Is it big enough to be a profitable segment? I don't know.

As for me, I will just hang on to my iPhone 7 as long as it continues to work.

You were clear in what you wrote. Some are so arrogant that they cannot accept that another person can possibly do what they do not want to believe can be done. How dare you contradict their closed mind! ;)

I checked the website, and I can believe that that would make it possible to use an Xr one-handed. I'm not sure if I really want to go in that direction.

So, my question still remains: can anyone with small to medium hands use the Xr one-handed, including going to the home screen? If so, how? I could not do it when I tried at the Apple store (but I could on the Xs).

That’s what’s most people actually need. They just don’t know it.

OMG dude shut up. I have seen you over and over speak for the phone buying world. You know what they want. You know what they don't need. You know what's best for them. From the garbage spewing out of your head you don't know a damn thing. Let me give you a bit of advice. Get a life. And never ever go into sales because you would completely suck at it.

First day @ work with Xr:

- Feels like carrying a small brick in my pocket.
- FaceID is very good.
- Camera is very good.
- Very snappy.
- Screen is good enough.
- Great speakers.

- It is a bit too big. Compared to my 6S it is stretched in all directions and it is thick.

they claim they can use it one handed but no they cannot no matter your size of hands; what they actually mean is they can hold it in one hand (sure I can hold a laptop in one hand) but they have to use second hand to actually perform functions except simple scroll up page...with SE size I can use it 'comfortably' one handed and perform anything I need/want (or nothing at all) with my other hand...I am not going into daily inconvenience of larger screen when everything else is a negative of having large brick size phone....

When I say I can use it one handed this is what I mean.

I can hold it comfortably and securely one handed and navigate or browse without feeling like it may slip out of my hand. Couldn't do that with my 7 plus or Pixel 2 XL. Yeah I can't reach the top of the screen. But I haven't been able to with most phones. When I can't do something one handed I just bring the other one up and do what I need to do.
