Woult it be possible that MacRumors report this bug on the front page of the website ?
I think this issue is linked with the video stutters observed by many users on the forum :

An article on the home page reporting this common stuttering issue would definitely help to circulate the information to Apple.

That would be nice. Wonder what we have to do to make that happen. Submit a tip?

Sadly, after further use, this issue reappeared just as bad as it was originally. It's likely that it was there all day, I was just busy with work and didn't notice it as much.
Ah well that’s a bummer. It really is one of those things that’s easy to miss if you’re not really looking. And I suspect that most people don’t really pay attention or notice it. But when you notice it, damn do you notice it...

It seems that the stuttering/choppy animations issue is more global than initially thought.
Many threads are flourishing on different forums (MacRumors, apple, Reddit,...) and report lags in movies/videos or when the brightness of the phone is low.
In all the cases, it seems that activating the screen recording stops the stutters.
With all these reports and threads, Apple should be aware of the problem now so I hope a fix will address this issue soon (maybe final version of iOS 12.1).

I tried the screen recording suggestion, I thought it had helped, but I could be wrong. Anyone else tried this? Let me know your results.

Hope this issue can be resolved for those keeping the phones.

I have tested Xs and Max 64GB (iOS 12.0) in store and those also have the stuttering issues. iPhone 8 Plus does not (iOS 11).

After testing my max with auto brightness off, that seems to fix the issue for me. Screen recording (with auto-brightness on) also corrects the issue mostly.

I have sent feedback to apple several times about this issue and also contacted support twice. They have logged the issue. I hope some Apple techs/engineers are able to see and correct this soon.

For me, auto brightness off don’t work, the stutters is there. Screen recorder fix the issue. Come on Apple, fix this.

I always have auto-brightness off, and I still had the stutter.

I returned them, but I had silver XS and gold XS Max, both 256gb. Now I’m back to my X, with no stutter.

Ok so that narrows it down a bit. Not an OLED issue. I’m assuming your X is on the latest iOS update?

Yes. It is definitely a XS/Max issue. Never a stutter on the X. When comparing to the XS, it was very noticeable. Also had a friend test it on his gold Max last night, and I saw it right away.

I wish they’d fix this. My favorite thing about iOS has always been how incredibly smooth it is. The stutter was my final deciding factor when I decided to return the XS.

I did the same. The X is incredibly smooth compared to the XS
