I heard alot of the comments regarding the shuffle/play-in-order switch. Perhaps I shall wait for the next revision?

Have ever owned or used either of these products?

I am looking at your little review and it doesn't even look like you are familiar with either of these products. Have you ever owned or been given either of these products to use. Cause I am physically looking at my Sandisk and I don't like it. It feels cheap, I need to carry a usb cord with me to connect to my various computers, i.e. Work, home, job sites. It may have a screen, sure, but that really doesn't matter for me. Fm radio, great but all the radio stations around where I live played canned music that is on a loop of ~2hrs. Sure the price comparison is favorable to the Sandisk, but I repeat it feels cheap, and is not wearing well. That is purely my view. That is why I would like to give the iPod Shuffle a chance.

I suggest that if you feel so strongly about the Sandisk then go buy a Sandisk. Let people make purchases on their own. If you don't like a product then don't buy it. Pure and Simple. Give people the tools to make their choices don't shove your choice down their throat. You wrote a review you provided everyone with a link to it. Now sit back and let people have their own opinions. I for one don't like the Sandisk, as I have stated, but at least I am holding out complaining about the Shuffle until I use it. And I will not be arguing needlessly with people so obviously in love with their iPod.

Leave it alone and go back to reviewing things.

I still cant see how the Shuffle is smaller? But anyway everyone has their own opinions. I just thought with all the people here upset about not getting a shuffle that the sandisk was a great value for the money.

Ipod shuffle. No wireless. Less capacity than a Rio. Lame.
Which flash based Rio has wireless? And more capacity? There's only one Rio with 512MB and thats $20 more. Looking again at the Rio site none of them have wireless so what's your point? Yes they have a screen but they're fugly :)

Lacero was making a reference to the reaction to the release of the original iPod by the Slashdot editors. Just like then, the tech specs are not all important when it comes to making a great product, but rather the right combination of form factor, ease of use, and features.

Shuffle Release Date Down Under

For all of those interested Australian's, Apple Au reckons they'll have a shipment of Shuffles by Thursday and then they'll begin shipping them from there! So first in best dressed!

Like-wise mate, I keep checking tnt every half hour, wonder if we get the same iTunes voucher as the states have done?

Cheers

I hope so for your sake. A combination of a voucher and iTunes Music Store opening in Sweden would be awfully nice for me! Not exactly expecting that to happen anytime really soon. Oh well... I'll be a very happy camper to be receiving just my ipod shuffle tomorrow. :)

Tempted to start making the playlist now as I've got a five hour train journey on Wednesday afternoon but I don't want to jinx it, my old CD walkmen gave up the ghost a long time ago and I've been using my old tape yes tape walkman for the last six months.

I think the sound quality may be a little better... ;)

I've read almost all posts but I still have a question about controls.
I know that if you hold down back and forward skip buttons you can scrub through the songs.

My question is: are the ff and rew controls exactly the same as those on iTunes? In iTunes if you hold down the ff button the fast forward speed amounts progressively. Is it the same with iPod shuffle?

Thanks :)
Lap.
Can someone who already has iPod shuffle please test this? Here in Switzerland they aren't still arrived in the stores.. Thank you.

If you hold the skip buttons it jumps through in equal intervals
Seems to be 5 sec intervals. (pretty nice)

Thank you jimburdette!! Unfortunately I don't think it would be useful for me, because most of the files I wanted to store in the iPod were about 1h long.. It would be difficult to jump quickly in the middle if the jumps are only to about 5 seconds of interval.

They're on the move...

yep me as well, mine was received in Eindhoven at 19.55. Hopefully it will make it to bristol tomorrow, at least it will if prior experience is anything to go by.

National variations

So it appears Brits and Americans are getting theirs on time or early, but Canadians aren't faring as well.

It must be the beer

Quick question - I'm in Canada my shuffle has shipped, according to the Apple order status page and the e-mail they sent me. However the carrier is listed as "SAME DAY RIGHT AWAY", and it was shipped on Friday and today is now Monday, so it is neither "Same day" nor "Right Away", lol. I have a tracking number from the order status window, but the e-mail I recieved had no mention of checking status (unlike my iMac G5 email, which had a fed-ex link). To fellow Canadians - who is sending these shuffles, and where can I check their shipping status?
Thanks

My 512Mb iPod Shuffle is shipping. I specified expedited shipping (2 to 3 days) but Apple changed it to "Priority Overnite" - does this mean it's definitely going to arrive tomorrow?

There is no carrier or tracking number specified but I assume it's shipping by FedEx like everything else I've ever ordered from Apple.
