Mine corrected "Kaitlin" to "Maki toon"... Spelled correctly, and I even capitalized the name. It was also at the start of a new sentence.

Autocorrect is worse in many ways, but I do like that it can be used against another word, and that it can pick up on missed spaces. I think it'll get better.

The keyboard responsiveness is another issue though. I only notice it when I type really quickly.

It's funny because mine auto corrected it the exact same way but for "Kaitlyn". Oh dear.

Exactly, those are the only two positive alterations.

It drives me nuts sometimes.

Autocorrect has actually been insanely awesome for me. Just a couple minutes ago, I accidentally typed the word "food", and it corrected it to what I intended, which was "good". Two real words, but it corrected it based on the context of the sentence. Happens all the time and had nothing but good experience with it.

Just like practically very time I try to write hood it corrects it to good, no matter how many times I correct it and what the context is.

Hi TH55,

Autocorrect is whacky. I'm starting to note down the auto "correct" it does for me, because both me and the fellow iPhone users in my household find some of the corrections obscure.

and YES, I think that since iOS7 my screens have been unresponsive too.

I can't wait to say iOS7 is dead, long live iOS8. iOS7 is pants.

Well, I've never had it change it to a word I didn't want it to. Only thing I can think of is "well" and "we'll". Autocorrect is awesome, for me at least.

That's good. There likely quite a few people that don't have any issues with it, just as there are likely quite a few who do (ranging from fairly trivial ones to somewhat larger ones).

My buddy said 7.1 fixed autocorrect. Is that true?

i'm guessing it's because of the iOS..
There were times when autocorrect doesn't work and there were times when autocorrect spelled a word wrong..
EDIT:I really can't figure what kind of engineers would be so stupid to create something like this.

Is autocorrect fixed now?

Believe me, my OCD would've been through the roof if I were having problems with autocorrect. I'm about as observant as could be.

Hmm, could I possibly just have a bad phone? I find that highly unlikely as everything else functions.

It is 100% certain that autocorrect is significantly worse on my new 4S w iOS 7.04 than it was on 5.01.

My phone also has a lot of issues with auto correct. Every time i type the word 'food' it replaces it with 'good' every time.

This was one of my favorite changes. You know why? Because sometimes I have a new message, but can't reply to it right now. However, I may need to reply to a different message first. Before, if I opened messages, it would go to the new message, marking it as read and clearing the notification, thus I would forget to respond later.

How often does this happen? 9/10 people don't have that rare issue and if brought to their attention would much prefer the speed and fluidity of opening directly to a new text in one step rather than two, I can promise you.

I think most would prefer to go to the list and select a conversation with a new message (especially when there's more than one) that they want to go to. In any case, didn't this aspect of it already kind of got discussed and more or less settled earlier in the thread? Seems like it's kind of just rehashing the same things from earlier on.

I would bet you serious money that a large number of people preferred it the old way, not just because they were used to it. It was far more efficient.

Other similar apps like Mail didn't work that way, and I don't really recall threads or people complaining why Mail doesn't do it or anything like that.

When you have new messages in multiple conversations and you mainly care about one particular one at the moment, how would it be more convenient for you to be taken to another conversation that just happens to have a new message in it just so that you would have to back out of it and then go to the conversation you want--seems like that's actually less efficient.

In a case where there are only new messages in a single convention it might be more convenient, so that might be one case where the old method might be more appropriate, but even then if you wanted to go to the Messages app to send a message to someone else and not read any new messages, why should it go to a conversation first and mark all new messages as read, which is completely unrelated to what you actually want to do.

Not a good comparison at all, two completely different apps. Messages is used in real time whereas mail is a much slower response time.

I just don't get it. How could they downgrade it so mych??

Edit: case in point

I just typed the same sentence on my iPhone and it was corrected. So the conclusion based on equal data is...

1. You're bending the truth to make a point
2. Your iOS is corrupted in some way
3. It may depend on which keyboards you have installed
4. It may have learnt this problem before for me
5. You're holding it wrong
