Actually the lowest cost plan is $80, but that gets you only 300 MB of data

You could jailbreak your phone.. until you get a notice from AT&T about it and they FORCE you into tethering... also for $10 more you can up the Verizon data from 2GB to 4GB. Putting the plan on the EXACT same price as AT&T not mentioning the better LTE service.

That depends on your area, I am in StL and AT&T has LTE here... plus I only pay $82.XX for my individual plan: 450 min, Unlimited M2M/Texting, 2 GB Data

So VZW is a for sure NO GO for me...

I am thinking bout dropping texting for Google Voice... The main people I send pictures to have iPhones or email synced to their phone. Which would put me around $60-$61 a month.

I had considered not dropping texting but going for a lesser plan and hope iMessage could hold me over, but a lot of people I text use Androids so I'd rather just pay the extra $5.

AT&T only has Ulimited for $20 or pay was you go at $0.20 a text (incoming and outgoing) for those who have older plans.

Did you notice that those two plans cost $15/month extra because they're for calling Canada and Mexico?

The old "normal" plans are gone.

When did I claim anything contrary to that? He simply asked where the non-shared plans were and I helped him out.

Unbunch panties & take a Pamprin.

Big Red charges a premium price because they can. They have the largest network coverage nationwide (4G and otherwise) and folks are willing to pay the extra $ for that coverage.

Verizon has always been #1/#2 usually #1 in the most expensive provider department. You don't go there to save on your cell phone bill. You go there because you need the coverage they offer with the understanding you WILL be paying (insert phrase here) for it. :D

Reading this thread, I just had to wonder about the Seniors and what they would have to pay both Verizon or AT&T, so I called and was surprised of the finding for 200 minutes 65+ calling plan and 2 GB of data for Verizon and 3 GB for AT&T...

AT&T 200 minutes
3 GB of data
$59.99

Verizon 200 minutes
2 GB of data
$69.99

Looks as if AT&T with 3 GB of data over Verizon 2 GB is the way to go

The mobile share plans on ATT and Verizon are not good for individual accounts.

I'd go Sprint personally. For individual plans, their cheapest option makes way more sense than anything AT&T or Verizon are doing.

Verizon
2GB + One Line = $100

AT&T
1GB + One Line = $85

Sprint
Unlimited Data + One Line + 450 Minutes with M2M = $69

Honestly, I think Verizon and AT&T have completely priced themselves out of the market to an unreasonable extent. For families it makes a little more sense, but for individuals, it's no good at all.

I can't believe they charge $36 to activate a phone.

Verizon
Smartphone ($40)
Unlimited Talk & Text, 1GB Data ($50)

Total: $90 / month

AT&T
Smartphone ($45)
Unlimited Talk & Text, 1GB Data ($40)

Total: $85 / month

With better LTE coverage and no drop calls, extra $5 is worth it. Plus AT&T forces you to pay for FaceTime over cellular...which sucks.

Where did you come up with these plans?
Are 1GB data plans available?
I don't see those listed anywhere.

I'd rather have the OPTION to add texting and not be forced to charg an extra $30 for it

Besides who in their right mind would pay for text messaging instead of Google Voice or the many other free options out there?

I've been to the Verizon site three times already in the last hour. Not a chance in hell of a new customer somehow getting 450 minutes + 2gb data + 1000 txt for $80.

$99 for 450 minutes, 2GB on the iPhone, 2GB on the iPad. Take off $30 for the iPad and add $10 for the 1000 TXT plan and you'd have $80.

The minimum voice plan (450 minutes) is $60!

Then you select a data plan of 2gb and your paying $90 per month!

$90/mo for 450 minutes and 2gb of data... I'm stunned. Literally stunned :eek::eek:

Compare this to AT&T's option of 450 minutes and 3gb of data for $70 already overpriced and you see just how ludicrous $90-100/mo minimum Verizon is charging. I'm surprised customers are ok with being bent over this badly

I'm paying $86 on Verizon for 450 minute and 2GB data and 1000SMS
ON AT&T, I'm paying $81 for 450 minutes, unlimited data and 200SMS. I'm staying with AT&T for the new iPhone because it's cheaper and the service is much better than Verizon in my area.

Or you could not be a dickbag about it. $99 for 450 minutes, 2GB on the iPhone, 2GB on the iPad. Take off $30 for the iPad and add $10 for the 1000 TXT plan and you'd have $80.

Just in to make sure I went back and ran the same cart without adding the iPad. Here's what I got.

450 minutes
2GB data
1000 messages
$79.99 monthly

Taxes will bring it to about $86 like what I am paying. I too got that $70 estimate and then the first bill was $85 where it is today.

I was just giving the pics demanded by the OP. I get the exact same price building it on Sprint with the same 450 minutes but unlimited data and text. That's the plan I have for my wife and after the %15 corp discount I've seen my bill stay steady at $73 after taxes

Hmmm. I was on there I couldn't find that. Also the rep I spoke to did not give me that option when I asked her about it. What a lying *****!! Either way, makes me dislike VZW even more...

New VZ customers minimum for an iPhone right now is $59.99:

$29.99 for 200 min on 65+ plan
$30.00 for 2 GB data

The $100 minimum mentioned in this thread is ridiculous and untrue. VZ reps will try to get you on the new plans, sure. But if you have a clue what you're talking about you'll be fine.

Edit:

You can also do unlimited talk & text with 300mb data for $70 on the new plans, if that's the route you're going for...

Why wouldn't Verizon allow their customers more options in plans and only present as those share plans the only ones available?
You shouldn't have to argue or dig through tons of website links to get a plan you need and then push them to honor those other plans.
Right?

Did you say 65+ as for senior citizens only plans? Sure, that's an option for most of us:D

Well, they want multiple lines, not single ones. That's why you can get 10 lines on one plan now. Add a hotspot, add a home phone, add a tablet... They are making three times as much on their 4G network as they were on their 3G one, so yeah, they want you on the new plans especially with multiple lines. "Why give away $ if you don't have to," is their reasoning for not being forthcoming about the new plans.

And with the 65+ plans, I've never seen an ID check on the Internet. ;)

Don't like it? Change carriers.

That's what I'm doing. I made sure to send them an email explaining why too.

No matter how you slice it, it's unreasonable and a rip off. All this crap about unlimited minutes and texting is just that. Crap.

People don't use their phones to call people anymore. Texting costs nothing.

The plans are a rip off. That's all there is to it.

I have an iPhone 4 and was going to switch to one of their new plans. I was under the impression that it was 4GB + unl text/voice for $70, which isn't too bad. Then there is a $40 "you have a smart phone fee". Eff that. That's insane.

So I'm switching to Sprint when the new iPhone comes out.

Where are you finding that 450 nationwide plan? I don't see it anywhere on the Verizon page when you order. Can you post a link? Might only a location specific thing?

So you're on an old plan but you're leaving because you don't like the new plans? I bet somebody actually read your email then :D'd and showed it to the whole office.

And exactly how many people do you know who are 65 on this forum?

They don't check and they don't care. DADT. Get it?
