Ignoring for a second how much of a scumbag move it is to use someone else’s name, how is it that Steve Jobs estate hasn’t sued them? I can’t sell **** as Elvis Presley or Madonna. Why can they?

Coming soon: Apple buys small nonsense company called Steve Jobs.

The end.

Yes indeed. They probably made some ridiculous offer to Apple to buy the rights to the name for 50 million or something but Apple declined. I'm the only reason they are going to produce "electronics" is to motivate Apple to buy them. All they'd have to do is rebrand cheap Android phones and slap "Steve Jobs" on them and Apple will have a fit.

This part blows my mind:

The Intellectual Property Office decided that the "J" logo that appears bitten was not infringing on Apple's own designs as a letter is not edible and thus the cutout in the letter cannot be perceived as a bite.

So they are both considering WHAT the "J" in the logo is made of (not edible), AND if any being is capable of eating a non-food(?) "J"???

Here you go:
-the "J" is made of cheese and frosted with silver frosting = edible
-any number of manufacturing machinery could bite out of a metallic J (likely painted plastic anyway) = edible

To be fair, Italian courts also convicted scientists of manslaughter for not completely predicting an earthquake back in 2012.

I'm disappointed that I could only 'like' this once.

The Italian legal system is a joke for several reasons; yours being just one example. I'd bet that Italian courts would side with a 'home team' over anyone else out of a sense of nationalism; "logic" or legality be damned. It's similar to a case in China where Apple wasn't allowed to shut down a Chinese company making cheap iPhone knockoffs there, either. Chinese courts would more often rule in favor of Chinese companies because...China.

I’m sure my recent rebranding to ApplenonotthatApple will help me shift shed loads of crappy products I barely put thought into.*

*No, I don’t mean the one’s I already make thank you very much :D

I'm sorry, but HOW did they win? The logo is a blatant ripoff and the name ... lol. Bunch of douche bags and the fine folks of the Italian court system are clearly off their rockers. I mean there couldn't be a more visual display of blatant stealing.

Article quote:

"While the Barbatos currently produce bags, t-shirts, jeans, and other clothing and fashion items, they told Business Insider Italia that in the future, they plan to produce electronic devices under the Steve Jobs brand. "We are working on a line of highly innovative electronic devices, projects we have been working on for years," said the two."

So first they are able to use Steve Jobs name through a legal process and then they are going to start becoming a fashion company into developing 'highly innovative electronic devices?' So what's next, 'A Steve Jobs phone?'

By all means, I'm not disparaging against this company or their business plan, but this does sound highly comical.

What a butt-ugly logo! I wouldn't want that hideous logo on the bottom of my shoe, let alone anywhere someone might see it.

Im thinking we need to register their names Vincenzo and Giacomo Barbato. And turn out terrible clothing too. haha I can't imagine what kinda tech they would release. LED keychains lol or anything at brookstone. Its really a shame they are using his name on that garbage. If all they sold was black turtle necks I would be more ok with it. haha

Eh, I usually side with the little guys in a dispute against a giant like Apple, but I think in this case, this is a clear and cut ripoff of the customer, who will unmistakably associate this brand with Apple itself. If they need the "Steve Jobs" name and the clear ripoff of an Apple logo to sell their merchandise, it must not be all that great.
The only brand I associate with Apple is....Apple.

This is just stupid on all fronts. First off it's a horrible brand name because it sounds like something Chinese fakes would use. Secondly how did this take several years to settle?
