Yes sticking with 38mm.
The more understated the better for me.

That's more or less my point. Drawing a lot of attention to yourself flashing a brand new Apple Watch might be a little hazardous if you travel in public transit a lot. Not saying it's a major risk to buy the 42, but the 38 is more for the "understated" look as you identified it. I'm sure both sizes will be equally common in the public space in a few years.

Surely its about what looks in proportion to your wrist? A 38mm imho is only suitable for a girls wrist

Just posting to say hello to fellow Norwich dweller. Was the store busy this morning?

I think it depends really. I'm a really slim guy with approx 165mm wrists but thin arms as well. I regularly wear t-shirts and when I do I wouldn't want the watch to look out of place on me. That's why I'm keeping an open mind at the moment.

Same, you'll want the 42mm! Let me know here what you decide ;)

Might have to pop in then. Is there an obligation to buy the thing if you have an appointment? I don't actually intend to..

Damn that Milanese strap does look good. I ordered a 42mm SS with the link strap first thing this morning. Just ordered an 42mm SS with the Milanese strap and n my way to the Apple Store as I have just scheduled a 1pm try on appointment. I will make up my mind then and cancel one or the other.

Despite a 4 hour gap between the two orders, delivery time is still 4 to 6 weeks

Space Grey (sport) with Milanese Loop

Tried on loads of different styles and the clear winner without a doubt is.....

The Milanese Loop! Just beautiful

Hi djrm, thanks you for the photos,

I've ordered the Space Grey (sport), would this colour match up to the Milanese loop as a combination.

Obviously I have not seen the Space Grey in person, and it looks darker than I thought. But if its like my iPhone 6 Space Grey, I think it would match up the Milanese loop. Any help from you experience today from what you have seen. Cheers :)

Tried on both and as a female was worried about how big the larger one would be but both are perfect and have ordered white SS sport band. Surprisingly light and really lovely. No MacBooks in store though.

As much as I want the 38, is there a reason why the leather loop strap is not available for it?

I went with the 42mm Sport in space grey with the black rubber strap.I'm happy with this decision for 2 reasons:

1. It's a first generation watch and within 2-3 years will not support software/firmware updates just like all Apple products.

2. If I like it I'll sell it on and buy a more expensive model

Can only offer a mockup. Not sure

Do not under estimate the difference in quality between the sport and the SS. The SS feels more superior for sure

I like your pictures showcasing the watch, but please refrain from "lol girls watch" as your comments or justification for your purchase. The simple fact is many people have smaller wrists, and using "girl watch" as a pejorative is borderline sexist by itself.

I ordered, and preferred, the size of a 38mm watch because my usual watch tastes are smaller and more sleek. If you guys like the larger or huge watches, that's well and fine, but it doesn't make it a "girl's watch" by mere size preference alone. Apple made two sizes for a reason, and more or less it comes down to individual tastes and wrist size. Not because one is a "girl's watch" versus a "man's watch".

Its ok to have girly wrists, we won't judge ;)

Umm...it's not like future watches will last longer than 2-3 years either.

I posted this in the "38 or 42mm?" thread, but it may be worth having here too.

-------

I've just got back from a try-on appointment at my local Apple Store.

I have ~155mm (~6") circumference wrists, with a wrist width of around 50-55mm.

I had been wanting a 42mm Apple Watch, but had been worried that it would be too big because of my small wrists.

However... it's fine! :) If anything, the 38mm looks small (to me)

Me with the 38mm Sport edition at Covent Garden (no appointment either).

So for me personally, it's fine and really comfy.

Saw quite a few people trying on the 42mm, then the 38 and they were more happier with the 38 in relation to their wrists.

Basically, it's all down to personal preference.

Just to clarify, there is no "boys" version, no "girls" version, just different sized watches.

You'll be in the minority looking at the other threads. You look at your photo and for sure people will think you made the right choice, my advice will be and has been from the min i saw it..Ignore the photos! Only in person will you know

Just how small is your wrist btw?

good morning. Had a quick question about your time with the watches this morning. Did you notice any issue with the bands sliding out of the watch case? I've seen a few pix that show the band not sitting as flush as it could be in the watch case and was curious if it's susceptible to sliding or just user error.

Thank you and great pix/post as well.

Now this does look nice!
