To each his/her own... I accidentally ran into this feature in the new iOS Facebook app, and it annoyed me. It was just like pop-up ads. All it really did was block content.
What happened to texting? Has it been replaced by FaceBook Messaging?![]()

The real question is... Why would you want this?!![]()
The app also handles SMS in Android - the only reason I use it. The Android version of Chat Heads is basically an awesome SMS application, with Facebook colours around it. Can't fault it; it's like "Messages" on iOS or Android, but with excellent multi-tasking capabilities, and with the added ability to Facebook message inside the same app.
Perhaps someone, somewhere can work out the last missing piece of functionality for the Jailbreak community?!
Apple should just officially allow Jailbreaking, just not support the results. Just make it a simple switch in iOS, just make sure customers know when they allow this, they are on their own and they won't be eligible for SW support.
If Apple did this, the normal consumer who likes the controlled environment can have it and the people who want to customize can have that too.
Anyway... sort of off topic, but seems like it would help Apple combat some of the Anti-Apple rants if this was allowed.
For everyone posting that they don't use FB chat that often.. stop..
It's meant to be (and is enabled in the Android version at least) to be integrated with SMS/MMS and Facebook chat. Therefore, it becomes an all in one chat messenger for FB and SMS.
No wonder Apple doesn't have any features on their phones...no one here wants anything.
No matter what gets released on Android and isn't available on Apple is "useless" or they won't use it or it isn't for them.
No wonder why Android is so ahead of Apple nowadays.
For me personally, that's the problem with it.
Granted, I'm sure Facebook would just love to have all my private text message conversations pass through their servers to be mined for personal data, but I prefer to send my messages through a conduit hosted by a company which doesn't have quite those particular business interests.
