I have this although nowhere near as bad as OP, only visible with a bright LED light. Also it is only on the left side of the phone. im on the upgrade program so my thoughts are that i am getting a new one in 11 months anyway so debating whether it is worth returning.

Pretty sure defects like in OP's pics make the phone worth less than a refurb phone without them. In the last 3 phones I sold, I don't think anyone has checked the serial number to make sure it matches the box. They all did, however, check for defects on the phone like scratches and such.

You are in a terribly bad mood over something that doesn't affect you at all.

Exactly this, plus I don't really care about the "value" that I can get for resale as I won't stand 1 year looking at this deformity. Mine is as bad as, or worst, than OP's. You can even feel it if you're sensitive enough.

If something is out of shape, it should be changed. Not even sure if the other fellow has an actual Jet Black. Maybe he does, but has a perfectly fine looking one.

Anyway, replacement is on its way, I'll wait and see.

Interesting. I would, personally, contact Apple and at least let them know of your findings. If you can accept the flaws, then you could keep it, being it has no effect on the iPhone performance.
Personally I wouldn't keep it, they will obviously swap it for him as that is not how it should look right out of the box. He might be fine with it, but it will dock his resale value in the future, plus if he got it through his carrier or Apple's trade-up programs they might dock him for cosmetic damage as well.

Sorry but I haven't read the hole thread but when you change your phone because of a problem you accept a refurbished phone? I had my 6s replaced 5 times over the first couple of months and got a new phone every time, and yes it was new in a sealed box.

If I was the OP I would be straight back to apple with it.

Just got my week 37 jb 256 and it has t slightly in directly like around the entire edges.

My week (36 I think) JB 128 didn't have the defect. Seems like a finish/machine defect.

Has anyone received their replacements yet? Considering pursuing a replacement now I've seen ones without the issue.

Yeah multiple people in this thread have received their replacements already. They're trying to secure me an iPhone locally but if not it will be shipped out for me on monday.

I remember the days when if you got a replacement you would get a little sticker with the new serial and barcode to put over the one on your box. Ahhhh, simpler times! :p

Really? When did they do this? I've had iphones since the 5, and have never seen this. I also had a 3GS, but never got a replacement. So I guess it's a 4, or 4s?

I should still have that iPhone 4 box somewhere with the sticker over the serial. If I can find it I'll post a picture.

And here's the evidence!

When the light catching mine it looks horrible. Will try and reserve another 256gb JB for a retail exchange. What type of exchanges are people getting from Apple? Retail or white boxes?

What week number is it? Check at sndeep.info :)

My 256 purchased yesterday at Covent Garden is week 37.

However, there's next to zero hiss compared to the others I've had.

For what it's worth, my Plus is also a week 37 and has none of the issues reported in this forum.

It's not a big deal imo

It's also just the way the light is reflecting. It's not a defect. All JB models I've seen look the same. The surface is perfectly smooth to the touch, but some light sources are distorted by the reflection.

So you agree with me it's not a big deal? Like I said before... I won't replace it. I don't like getting refurb iPhones for a non-issue. Tomorrow the phone can drop of the guys who get a replacement and then I prefer my "issue" then a scratch and damaged phone. Cheers.

My first phone week 38, with hissing on the back /static/video static. I tried various angles and couldn't get it to appear...

My second replacement white box from apple.. week 38... no noise from back of phone just the little white noise ish is there.... has the irregularity that you guys reported.. strange my first one I didn't notice it

Hissing thing is a real problem. Be happy you have a replacement now and the irregularity is not a big deal.
