i know. i was just stating that you can't compare something rare as a lambo to a mass produced iPhone. Issues usually are cleared up on the following phone a year later.
You are correct. All we are comparing is color depth, strength, gloss, and clarity to optimize the products final finish/coating.

All processes take place on a tight schedule with strict quality control parameters to maintain tolerance levels of heat and chemicals and improve unforeseen issues as they arise in a large manufacturing environment. We don't have time for next year, Apple's time today was already engineered years ago.

Jet black and matte black look the same on the front. That's the side we stare at 99%. If you aren't so OCD about the rear side, then jet black is still a great option.

I prefer matte black with the 7 and jet black with the 7+ because the latter's camera hump protrudes more. Stop worrying and just enjoy whatever color suits you more.

I'm not going to lie I think regular black is dead sexy and I wish there had been reviews on both phones so I could have decided for sure. I won't regret getting the jet black because of scratches but because I like both colors so much I couldn't really decide. I still am crazy over jet black though and I'm happy I'm getting it.

I don't understand all these posts trying to convince us we're wrong for choosing jet black. Some even went as far to hope we drop and damage our phones. Some of you are crazy on here.

Probably.

I was initially planning on going matte, but have changed my mind. I'm getting the jet black. Will it get scratched? I hope so! I like the look of finely designed and aged objects.

Thing is, if it does indeed scratch as easily as all these reviews suggest, then you definitely can't call it "finely designed" material wise. And if it has several visible scratches after just a few weeks, then it isn't really "aged" either.

Know what was finely designed and aged well? My 6 year old iPhone 4. Only minor wear on the frame due to use of cases and bumpers, but otherwise it's in great condition.

i think you shoud think original apple ipods with the silver backs. that htings gets scratched just looking at it. unsure if that really looks great aged.

there's a reason why people say don't get a black paint on your car, the scratches are very obvious.

OCD or not, that video review showed that JB to be pretty scratched up after only a few days of owning it.
Actually in the review it looked like the front of the phone was scratched and if I'm not mistaken isn't the front of the matte black phone glossy also?

Here you go, ,

he is is strongly suggesting for people to not buy the jet black, i dont know what the deal is with his attitude but yea watch the video and see for yourself, he says that there wont be such a thing as a jet black without scratches, makes me feel kindda meh considering i preordered the jet black

I watched his video review, he seems pretty anti iPhone 7 to be honest! Just seemed to want to moan about things.

Same thing happened during the 5S launch. You had people trying to convince others that the Gold was stupid, gonna look cheap, gaudy, ect. Then it happened in 2014, with some on here trying to convince others that 4.7 was the perfect size and the 5.5 model would be stupid, would flop, would be ugly, ect.

Then last year you people on here trying to convince others (and maybe themselves) that rose gold was gonna look ugly, was gay, stupid, wasn't gonna sell, ect.

Happens every year unfortunately. People should just be happy with their purchase and keep it movin

I went to bestskinever and ordered a body wrap, problem solved.
I like it. Cost is almost nothing with the discount you can even return it no questions asked. I was going to go no case but this may be the closest thing, going to try it, thx.

So you buy the jet black iPhone, wait longer than the other colors to actually get that phone, and then put a skin on the phone so you never actually see the jet black color. I'm not sure how that makes any sense.

It's not like folks were not warned about this, h@ll even apple warned everyone on there website. If your OCD then why on earth did you even bother to order a JB in the first place? Can't wait to read the scratch comments this weekend.

Twenty years from now some of us will be going, "Do you remember the time back in the mid-2010's when you complained getting scratches about the back of an iPhone you rarely looked at? Pepperidge Farm remembers."

Soooo happy I went with Matte. As soon as I saw that JB i was like ewww personally. People act like those scratches wont bother them now but I can guarantee you once they get them in hand and start to get those micro scratches on them, they will be whining and ready to return them.
Agreed!!! Plus if you don't see it will scratch from common sense then I don't think you have a right to complain when it does happen. Either be ok with scratches or stay away to begin with.

Yes clear skin like other poster said but I just want to try it, you think mommy give me spank if bad? yes bad mommy make me cry cry.

I am so glad I went matte. When announced I was "definitely" going to get jet black but after looking at more pictures and videos I changed my mind. Looked like a 5C kind of plastic.
Ditto. Felt like I was seeing an iPod classic in black! And god those things scratched like crazy

You have to be OCD like us to understand. I will be juggling the JB and Matte phones hoping to see which one drops first and scratches and get OCD about it with a permanent marker.

Can't wait to get my JB 7+... I ordered a Ringke clear case, but honestly I think I'm going to use it naked.
1) Let's be honest, if you're like me and a large percentage of people on this forum, you're going to get an iPhone 8 next year anyway.
2) I have AT&T Next 12,... I really, really doubt they will give people any trouble as far as exchanging it next year due to micro abrasions.
3) I'm getting AppleCare+... this means in 6 months or whenever, if I am really put off by the scratches for some reason, I can pay the fee and swap it for cosmetic reasons.

For all of those reasons, and because I personally liked the look of the 3G/3GS, I am excited to be getting the Jet Black!
That's it -3G, iPod classics ... It's the retro look, but if you don't mind the scratches, it comes down to personal preference. Just funny how people will be indignant that it scratches despite warnings and common sense.

So I just cancelled my Jet Black order. Still think it's the most beautiful color, but I'm someone who's gonna use an iPhone for at least 4 years, and I am quite sensitive when it comes to scratches.

Another good thing, I will get it earlier now. And maybe one member here gets his/her Jet Black earlier thanks to my cancellation ;)

Jet Black, ordered 4 minutes after pre-orders started, - delivery September 26 to October 4.
Standard Black, ordered just now, - delivery September 22 to September 26.
I'm guessing you ordered the 128GB Matte Black?
