i personally ordered the Jet black as well, Nilay Patel from the verge just went live on facebook for like 30 minutes and did a review of the 2 types of black iphone 7's, he seems to be strictly against buying the jet black for whatever reason, according to him its going to get scratched right away he said
link?

If they are just testing the phone I'm sure they don't care much for it. Also just get a case and back screen protector. Jeez people.

Also that matte looks almost gray. Glad i got jet black.
Only looks gray because of the lighting in certain photos.

With all these complaints about the scratching. I"m hearing that if its super clean - it looks bomb..
Wait til' they work out the kinks on the production line and improve the anodized coating process. It's not an easy task especially producing millions of phones.

But worth waiting the later shipments if you want a different more lacquer mirror finished phone than everyone else. Will I be able to tell the difference? haha probably not.

the finish won't change over this next year. just look at the iPhone 5 black issues. they stuck.

So I just cancelled my Jet Black order. Still think it's the most beautiful color, but I'm someone who's gonna use an iPhone for at least 4 years, and I am quite sensitive when it comes to scratches.

Another good thing, I will get it earlier now. And maybe one member here gets his/her Jet Black earlier thanks to my cancellation ;)

Jet Black, ordered 4 minutes after pre-orders started, - delivery September 26 to October 4.
Standard Black, ordered just now, - delivery September 22 to September 26.

Never say never they're already dipping Lamborghini's in Shenzhen beyond anodizing and powder coating technologies keeping it hush hush. Apple will be knocking on their door soon.

Wonder how long the delay if I switched to Matt black. My order is still in process mode

lamborghini's are mass produced?

the thing with a clear skin is that applying a clear screen will already make your phone look glossy. you can apply a clear skin to a normal black iphone and it'd look glossy

They will never be mass produced...but again never say never.
i know. i was just stating that you can't compare something rare as a lambo to a mass produced iPhone. Issues usually are cleared up on the following phone a year later.

The video is great. Looks like all the jet black buyers made a huge mistake. No one remembers the black/white ipod days. Those devices looked awful after use.

Thank you for helping the rest of us get ours more quickly! :) I'm not saying that to be snarky - really, thank you!

How is this new or surprising? Apple did move away from a "black" phone back in the iPhone 5 days due to "Scuffgate". No wonder people think that history repeats itself.

They also moved away from gloss black plastic after the 3GS. I completely agree with you - people didn't think this through very well.

I ordered the Jet Black Plus along with Speck's new clear Presidio case. Hoping this will be a compromise between enjoying the looks and keeping the scratches off.

I'd still like a jet black but since it was going to be in a case I went with matte black. I did notice where apple did say it would scratch. There will probably be lawsuits by... Tuesday after release?

I have no doubt that once it releases this will be the second coming of "scratch-gate" from the iPhone 5 days.

Probably.

I was initially planning on going matte, but have changed my mind. I'm getting the jet black. Will it get scratched? I hope so! I like the look of finely designed and aged objects.
