I'm not going to lie I think regular black is dead sexy and I wish there had been reviews on both phones so I could have decided for sure. I won't regret getting the jet black because of scratches but because I like both colors so much I couldn't really decide. I still am crazy over jet black though and I'm happy I'm getting it.

I don't understand all these posts trying to convince us we're wrong for choosing jet black. Some even went as far to hope we drop and damage our phones. Some of you are crazy on here.

Probably a conspiracy to get early delivery through cancellations ;)

If you guys are that worried / concerned about scratches how do you guys deal with other things that get wear and tear? Cars, appliances, clothes, etc all get wear and tear.

Apple wasn't kidding when they warned us about the jet black iPhone 7's being prone to scratches. I'm positive that you'll eventually find scratches on your jet black baby even if you use a case since dirt and who knows what else will eventually make it's way inside. Beware OCD JB iPhone 7 owners!

This is the only reason I cancelled my JetBlack 7 this past Sunday that I preordered on release day and went with the Matte Black instead. It ended up working out because my delivery date went from 10/05 to 9/23

I'm guessing you ordered the 128GB Matte Black?
Yep, I did. Sorry, forgot to mention that.
In contrast to all the naysayers, I'm actually thankful for this thread and the reviews that were posted. Definitely think I am better off with the Matte Black now.

Ugh, seems like the 256GB iPhone 7 Plus is taking longer to be shipped. Wish I could get mine on release day.

I plan to use a dbrand carbon fiber skin on the Note7 and this is mainly because glass phones are too slippery. I don't give a damn protecting the front. Hate making both sides feel like a condom. Takes away all the feelin'!

If you plan to get jet black to hide fingerprints and protect the back from scratches, go dbrand or any clear protective layer over it. Don't waste the looks of that jet black iPhone 7 design with a case. Treat blemishes badges of honor, or birth marks to differentiate, or moles in our own skin.

This is going to be future e-waste so you're wasting time being OCD with a tool we need daily and abuse daily. I don't plan on getting buried with all my phones. Looking back at your life 5-20 years from now whining about blemishes on the back of an iPhone you rarely looked at will only make you laugh at your younger, immature self.

Don't be a Howie Mandel or Howard Hughes. More reassurance posts by me for all you jet black owners. Wipe it off or shrug if off. Just rock-n-roll with whatever you choose and enjoy your temporary state with it. :)

We worry about those too but the iPhone sits at the top of the list of our worries no other thing like an iPhone yes sad bad true but ok :D

My only concern would be payment programs where you are likely wanting to trade in every year for a new device. How many scratches are too many? Who really knows at this point...

A couple of months ago, I was checking out video reviews for the Xiaomi Mi 5 Pro. It is also glossy black. The ceramic really is no different than the glass counterpart. Smudge magnet. The Mi 5 that caught my eye is the all-white version.

Now I prefer black front panels, but an all-white, glossy iPhone 7 option would have been great too. Hides scratches and fingerprints better. Anything glossy, I prefer white. Black attracts smudges like no tomorrow with any material. Matte, glass, or glossy.

Any chance you release something like that, Apple? The iPod throwback color!

Favorite white products -
Sega Dreamcast (off-white)
Apple iPod 5th gen
HTC One M7 (glacial silver)

The key with white front panels is to have a bit of black borders around the display. M7 had it. My gold LG also has black borders. It isn't completely gold on the front. Viewing videos wasn't distracting as viewing on a white iPhone which had very little black borders around it. White Xperia phones also lacked it too.

You mean when you trade it in to upgrade? It doesn't matter because scratches are considered normal wear and tear and they'll accept it in that condition.

Guessing you don't suffer from OCD. Lucky you.... :(
I don't care anymore tbh. My car shows wear on the inside and outside now even though its pristine clean. Same for any major appliance I purchased. Furniture, expensive shoes, clothes. It's all part of using things. Besides I'm not stuck with this phone forever. I highly doubt many of you will even care much a month or 2 from now when the newness is over and it becomes just a tool / iPhone.

I care about damage like dents, rips, etc but not stuff that comes with normal wear.

OCD never takes a break. We will ALWAYS care about scratches.

Where does the obsession with preventing surface damage come from? My mom and grandmother had serious issues with that stuff and so did I until a few years ago. I think these type of people were criticized and shamed for natural flaws when they were younger, and that they think as long as they can look perfect, they'll feel safe. And their obsession with perfection will lead them to shame others. A big shame cycle. Just speaking from my own experience.

Wouldn't it kinda suck if Apple releases the all-white iPhone 7 next year like say March? Or even by September when iPhone 8 is released? Other companies do that all the time. Release a different color after a few months. I remember the white Nexus 4 and 5 coming out later. Samsung never released a white S7 edge in the States.

Since the antenna lines are also white, it would be hidden because the silver, gray, and gold rear shows it. A white front panel should be less distracting if it had some black borders around it similar to how HTC did with the M7 and LG did with the G3 series...

Apple never refreshes the iPhone mid-year. The white iPhone 4 came late only because of production difficulty in getting the color correct.

It's fair game if they release a glossy all-white version in September as it'd be a new model. They're actually very likely to do that considering they now have the new all-white ceramic Apple Watch Edition.

I hope it scratches easy or I will be disappointed. Apple promised.

Seriously, any of the phones will scratch, who cares. I think most people are saying this because they didn't want to wait and settled for a black, silver or heaven forbid gold.
