Thing is, if it does indeed scratch as easily as all these reviews suggest, then you definitely can't call it "finely designed" material wise. And if it has several visible scratches after just a few weeks, then it isn't really "aged" either.

Know what was finely designed and aged well? My 6 year old iPhone 4. Only minor wear on the frame due to use of cases and bumpers, but otherwise it's in great condition.

Purely opinion, I think.

Does anyone remember the original iPod touch? The gorgeous glossy stainless on the back? How quickly it was scratched to hell? I still loved mine. I still have it and use it in my car. I'm keeping my JB order. If it's truly intolerable I'll exchange it for Rose Gold within 14 days. But, I'm planning on putting a case on it and enjoying it.

Here's a video that shows the back of the iPod touch 1G. I fully expect the same type of wear.

There should be an option where when you order Jet Black it comes out of the box inside a protective case.

Apple folks have got it made. Note7 owners have it worse and it isn't because of the exploding battery. I remember reading horror stories Nexus 4 cracking like an egg just by coughing on it or if the temperature in the room changed.

Put a clear skin on the back of the jet black. Cost only $10. Your OCD problem is now solved. Won't feel like a bar of soap either. The front looks exactly the same as the matte black which is the side we all will stare at most.

2010's first-world problems is the decade we will remember caring about the back of our phones! A decade that will live in infamy!

If anyone gets one make sure it's gloss. Matte will essentially turn your jet black into the regular black. I had a matte one for my 6 plus. Started coming off and I decided to go without it. I honestly did not like the feeling of the naked skin compared to the regular slick wraps. Clear skins have that tacky gummy feeling to them, less for the matte but still there.

Include me in that list of people who are semi -OCD. I can accept scratches but I can't accept scratches because the wind blows. That's not acceptable. Apple had this issue with the iPhone 4. I created a thread back in 2010 with this issue. I don't want to have to create another thread 6 years later.

I'm camping out for the phone after 3 years of doing pre orders and I'll stick with the regular black. Look at the picture below of what I expect the Jet Black to look like ; because it was windy. No, thanks!!

Wow, my iPhone 4 never looked like that for the 2 years that I had it. I did end up replacing the back with a commemorative jobs one. The great thing about the 4 was the backplate was so easily replaced and readily available. Still my favorite design even though #antennagate. Ahead of its time.

Can someone please advise me?I really like the Jet Black as the best color but am scared of scratches. What should I do guys?Is it really that prone to scratches :(

Apple's website verifies it as very scratch prone phone . How bad do you OCD over scratches? Lol

Oh man, antenna gate. Good memories (not really) but hey, we can laugh at that kind of stuff now.

I have xtreme OCD.All my iPhones go in a transparent case once outside the box but will the jet black color be distinguishable over matte black in a transparent case?

Just putting it out there that OCD is actually a debilitating and life ruining mental illness, and most of you who claim to 'be ocd' about your phones are actually not.
I legit, think I am. I hated the 3gs for having the apple logo scratched by just looking at it as well. I replaced it several times. My iPhone 6s Plus never has been replaced because it doesn't scratch easily. No phone should age in a week. LOL. We are definitely going to see those issues resurface and Apple covered it's butt with the disclaimer.

I naysayers downplayed the issue all over the Internet yet I could replicate it every time. Even the software "fix" increasing how signal strength was displayed did nothing for me. Drove me nuts until I made the habit of "holding my phone correctly". That retina screen made every other screen look like garbage though (I came from an htc 4.3"). Good times.

I'm not going to lie I think regular black is dead sexy and I wish there had been reviews on both phones so I could have decided for sure. I won't regret getting the jet black because of scratches but because I like both colors so much I couldn't really decide. I still am crazy over jet black though and I'm happy I'm getting it.

I don't understand all these posts trying to convince us we're wrong for choosing jet black. Some even went as far to hope we drop and damage our phones. Some of you are crazy on here.

I think some just couldn't decide between both colors and they used the scratch-thing to make up their minds. However, they are still uncertain because they would love the new finish in some way, so now what they are doing is hoping that Jet Black will indeed scratch easily and that everyone of us who got Jet Black will be unhappy with it only so they can be sure that they made the right decision. Sad, I know.

Live and let live.
I said it before, I'm still very happy that I ordered Jet Black and I can't wait to get it.

Also, it's a phone not an eyeball. It's not the end of the world when I see scratches on my phone.

Does putting on gloves when taking the phone out of the box count as OCD? Don't want to touch it until my case and screen protector are on my phone.

I am the same way, I won't go out of the house unless my phone is in a case and has a case on it. I use to put an otter box on all my iPhones but it became too bulky so now I just put on a screen protector with a Spigen case and all is fine.
