iPhone user irony #1
1. People buy iPhone for the beautiful design
2. People cover it up with an ugly case

iPhone user irony #2
1. People buy new iPhone for water-resistance
2. People complain smudges and scratches
3. People go swimming in chlorine or go scuba diving in salt water with their iPhone which have far more harsh chemicals than your greasy hands

I used to be pretty bad being OCD. Started from my baseball/basketball card collecting. I actually cared more about the jewel case of my CD and box of my DVD more than discs themselves which had scratches! I would dust my video game consoles every week. That's how bad it got with me.

Even now, I still have it. Like David Beckham when he wants an even amount of stuff in his refrigerator. My apps have to always be even and arranged a certain way by the color of the icon. Android's customization actually made more OCD with my homescreen than the more limiting iOS. Then I kept moving every few years that I stopped caring about mint condition or whatever.

Won't bury myself in them. Don't plan to hold an iPhone museum in my home. Nobody cares if you have a mint condition iPhone 7 except the next owner. I would be more impressed if my friends had a beaten up old Ferrari in their garage. Why? Because it's a Ferrari! That's more impressive at owning than having a mint condition iPhone that sells millions every year!

This iPhone 7 will sell, what? Maybe 50M or more? So a mint condition iPhone 7 will be far more common in a year or two than say an unopened iPhone 2G from nine years ago which never sold more than 10M. All the stuff about scratches will become trivial in a few months. Treat it like a tool, not jewelry. Treat the blemishes like a badge of honor. If you can't handle it, go for a different color option.

Honeymoon phase first. Treat it like jewelry. After a few drops and dings, you shrug it off. Then you get the newer iPhone because your old one is lagging from the newer iOS update and the cycle happens all over again. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Does putting on gloves when taking the phone out of the box count as OCD? Don't want to touch it until my case and screen protector are on my phone.
I'm afraid I don't have the expertise or knowledge to diagnose you over the Internet with a mental illness.
I just know that all these people in here talking about their OCD really just mean they are fussy and a bit obsessive about keeping their gadgets in mint condition. That isn't OCD and that isn't a mental illness.
I hate how people talk about OCD like it's something everyone has and make light of it and joke and laugh about 'how OCD' they are.
People with a genuine obsessive compulsive disorder struggle to live a normal life and it affects them and those around them in a massive way.
Do a bit of research on it and you'll probably realise that just because you like to keep your phones in mint condition doesn't mean you are mentally ill.
Rant over.

If anyone gets one make sure it's gloss. Matte will essentially turn your jet black into the regular black. I had a matte one for my 6 plus. Started coming off and I decided to go without it. I honestly did not like the feeling of the naked skin compared to the regular slick wraps. Clear skins have that tacky gummy feeling to them, less for the matte but still there.

I just ordered the glossy for my Jet Black!!!

I remember the iPhone 4s with its glass back, that scratched. I wonder how bad this one will be in comparison, I also keep hearing about how this jet black model scratches even with a case, don't know how that can happen when a case is designed to protect the phone.

Dirt/dusts/particles get into cases. Over time that causes abrasions. It can happen to any phone.

OCD here again me not you. I remove the case from time to time and brush out debris (usually none) with a soft paint brush (I dust everything with this) and wash with warm water and soap.

I'm sure I'm not the only one phone stays spanking new. Also keep microfiber towels everywhere (car, work, all over the house) to continuously wipe the phone throughout the day, gonna give it another good cleaning now :D

Not getting a case on my Jet Black 7. Just can't fathom any reason to buy that version if you cover it with a case.

The guy from The Verge had a fb live video showing how bad it fingerprints and it is already scratched up after having it only a week or two. I can handle fingerprints, but I'm really hoping scratching is not as bad as it seems like it's going to be.

I already have a full body clear skin on order. Should protect the phone from being prone to scratches etc. Works well on my ipad pro.

I was thinking the same, from all these reviews it seems like the jet black scratches very easily. I would switch to the matte black but I prefer the look of the jet black and I don't see the point settling for second best when paying for a device.

Everyone here should just start a Scratchgate thread now so you can be first. Only there will be less sympathy given Apple already warned everyone.

Interestingly though, if you look at those photos, it looks scratched in the super close-up, but then one of them had a photo of it at normal distance away from your face and you couldn't really tell. So I bet they will show up in macro focus photos, but when it's in your hand at the distance you use it, it won't be very noticeable.

This might be the case, Apple themselves did say micro obrasions, also most of the time we are not looking at the back of the phone anyway, so unless you are obsessing about it, I can't see it being too much of an issue. I still think the jet black looks much better than the others.

Yes, that's exactly where I'm at. I like it because it looks different and I think it would feel the way I want a phone to feel (not matte like the other ones). But I'm starting to rethink my decision based on early reviews and the longer delivery times...
