Well let me just say that I had Jury Duty today and I took my iPad.
After sitting there for several hours, I was thinking, I sure wish I had an iPad Mini right now!
Because ur smarter then the people running the most profitable company on the planet.
How about when, in a year, you find that the iPad Air (not 'mini') has outsold all other iPads combined?

iPod Touch is really long in the tooth. I wonder if it will die or be replaced by the smaller iPad. The entire iPod line seems kinda weak.
Is the Apple news circuit really going to give Gruber the sole credit for coming up with this idea? I'm pretty sure everyone who follows Apple thought about this same thing at one point or another. Apple will hold a seperate event to release a new product!? Holy ****, how insane! It's painfully obvious that announcing the new iPhone, talking about iOS6, updating the iPods, introducing a new iTunes. AND announcing an iPad Mini is way too much for one event.
I still don't believe there even is an iPad mini, but if there is, I don't believe for a second they would unveil it alongside the iPhone. Apple would probably just wait until the next iPad event to unveil an iPad mini at this point.

I would have thought it'd have at least one more revision. Then get replaced by eSIMed cheap iPhone for pre-paid market.

Makes perfect sense. The iPhone and iOS 6 should have their own separate event, given how important they are to Apple. Especially if there's a new iPhone design, with a new connector, and maybe one or two surprises to unveil. (Fingerprint scanner?)
In October, I can see going back to their music/media event, with a new iPod Nano, iPod Touch, a revamped iTunes 11 (hopefully), and "iPod Extreme" as their "one more thing..." announcement.

Let me get this straight, to align yourself with the late Steve Jobs opinions on small tablets not being a good idea is now considered inappropriate?
I agree with SJ, furthermore the iPad mini would probably just going to end up competing with the iPad and blurring the difference between it and its competitors.
Having said that, calling anyone an idiot is usually considered rude.
I hope the sept12 event is a state of the art new iMac. That would surprise many, but make me very happy
The new iMac will be the new Apple TV. It makes no sense at all any other way.
I would buy the iPad Mini... Maybe I'm a consumer idiot, but I wanted the next generation iPad, but if a smaller version if the iPad 3 is coming out, then I would definitely see what it brings to the table. If I like what I see, then I'm going to buy. I do like the iPads size right now but in bed, I think the mini would surface, it won't cost as much and it's more comfortable whilst browsing on the side. But, I'm also upgrading to the new iPhone, so I'll see how I'll live with that before considering an iPad, but I do want one in the next 3-12 months.
