3% is less. The upcoming non Pro 6.7" version that is supposed to replace the mini should sell well. Many will be wanting a bigger screen at a lower price point.

Mini is just not worth manufacturing as the screen is far too small, use the freed up space for manufacturing phones that most people want. The majority want bigger screens as phones these days are media devices.

People don't buy smaller chicken sandwiches that are priced 10% less than the normal ones, either. I like that apple does a good job at reducing the hardware fragmentation gap, but this better seen on the much loved iPhone SE 2 when the price wasn't stupid and the parts were pretty good. Plenty of people hate big phones but value is value.

I'd love to have one as a secondary phone, but at its current price that is just way out of the question.

Every time I see an article on here about the mini, it’s basically “nobody is buying the mini because nobody is buying the mini. Also, there are other phones people are buying more than the mini which no one is buying. Finally, no one is buying a mini. No one. Not even the people buying the mini who number less then the people buying other phones.”

I have a 12 mini. I love it. My next phone will be the 14 because battery life is the number one thing on my list which it wasn’t 2 years ago.
I don't think anybody saying "nobody" is buying the mini. It's just that the number of people that bought the mini is not as huge as many here seems to indicate, and the numbers are showing it.

Seeing the comments, it's clear that most people are only talk. Prior to the mini, people were claiming that they wanted flagship small phone even if it's expensive. Apple obliged. Then people complained about the price, claiming the 12 mini (and 13 mini) to be too expensive (contradicting their demand in the first place).

And I would think many consumers who did buy the 12 mini ended up like you, looking to upgrade to a bigger phone simply because of battery life. We cannot cheat physics and chemistry of batteries just yet. Smaller means less battery, simple as that.

The 12 mini is already discounted, yet still not selling as well.

The SE is larger than the mini. So the argument that people prefers smaller phone don't jive. People simply wanted cheap iPhones.

I own an iPhone 6s and have been looking to upgrade to a similar sized phone for YEARS now. I'm not considering the SE because it's small screen size is a joke these days. The 12 mini had battery life issues and additionally the 13 mini's camera bump is just totally frustrating when used on a flat surface (e.g. to use a calculator app). I don't need a bazillion pixel camera either. I guess I'm in the market for an SE with a much larger screen and that's why I haven't given Apple a dime since I got my iPhone 6s. Everybody's different - I'm just saying what my reasons are.
If you put it in a case, theres no pivoting when you use it on a flat surface at all.

I would buy the mini over other models if I needed a new iPhone. When I need a new iPhone, I will probably buy a used mini (or maybe SE), seeing as how Apple plans to make bigger and bigger phones. Or I might actually get a dumb phone or just use a cellular Apple Watch, along with occasionally luging my iPad around.

You cannot use an Apple Watch without an iPhone. Even with the cellular model, you would still need to pair it with an iPhone.

Here’s hoping the Mini becomes the next SE.

(I just got a new android mid last year that’s supposed to last me another year from now. Depending on if the Mini is killed off, I’ll buy the current one regardless. If it’s not killed off, I’ll get the 14 Mini or SE 3.0..or is it 4.0?

Have said this here before, but pairing the 13 mini with the iPad mini is the best of both worlds. True portability and one-handed use when out of the house, then basically a gigantic iPhone for at-home/couch use (but without the cumbersome nature of the larger iPads). If I could only own one device I would go for the iPhone Pro size, but because owning iPhone+iPad is attainable I truly believe they compliment each other brilliantly.
In my case, it’s iPhone 13 mini + iPad Pro 12”. The phone wants to be pocketable so let it be small. The tablet is for consuming media so let it be big. I tried big phones 6S Plus & XR and they just felt off, too big to handle. I had to adjust the gripping every time I want to reach UI in the corner. It slowed down the experience to a crawl regardless of how fast the chip is.

The screen is bigger than the SEs screens. And those sold better. It’s not the size, it’s the price.

Maybe if Apple didn't gimp the cameras more of us would have chosen it? Like say, a pro mini....

The assumption is that there are many users of iPhone 11-type devices who look at the dinky 13 Mini and think 'awww, that's cute' and expect the same legs in smaller form.

The battery on the 13 Mini is absolutely fine IF you use your phone for its intended purpose: a tool for everyday life. It was never designed to be a consumption device of any kind.

I think there is a market for "small" phones. But I don't think there's a market for "small and expensive" phones. That really is a pretty niche user demographic. And those that don't want the latest "big" phones don't want them for multiple different reasons, not all of which are satisfied by the mini. So that market really is split multiple ways between the SE, the mini and legacy 2nd hand iPhones.

I'm currently using a 13 mini and it is great. It is almost unnoticeable in my pocket and the screen size is not limiting at all. It's a shame it didn't catch on.

Battery is pretty bad though. Light usage will barely get you through the day.

If subjects with small hands prefer phablets to phones and Apple manages to sell a basic phone like the Mini for 879€ (1189€ for 512 Gb) there is little to do.

However, I am happy to see more and more subjects using these useless products while driving, usually they are the ones you read in the newspapers the next day or in some obituary.
