12:03am was a no contract AT&T Spcae Gray, 256. 12:07am order was for for a no contract AT&T silver, 256. The Space Gray shipped on 11/15 from China. It stayed in Korea a few days. Tracking says it’s finally in the States. On the other side of the country from me. The Silver is still stuck in the “preparing” status.
One of our phones detoured through Korea, and was there for a few days. Once it broke loose, it made its way to us very quickly. I was assuming it went via South Korea because of the green bar issue with the displays - just guessing it was there for Samsung, who has a factory close to the airport, to ensure I didn't experience the issue.

Eh, people do it every day on all kinds of things. It's not unique to Apple at all.

And I guess if it weren't happening on both sides, well, these forums would be awfully desolate.

Curious. Do you actually think “happening on both sides” means that it’s “equal” on both sides?

Curious. Do you actually think “happening on both sides” means that it’s “equal” on both sides?
Damn, that's actually a really good question.

My answer is no. The anti-Apple frothing from the pro-Android crowd is more egregious and unreasonable.

There's basically zero evidence to support the idea that the iPhone X is or will be a flop/failure. I've seen that claim a lot on here, and it's just absurd. Sure, it's relatively expensive, and sure, it's not right for everyone, and sure, it has controversial design elements. But cmon. It's a solid device that will CLEARLY generate tons of profit. (This is true even if units sold in Q1 drops YoY, which frankly we should expect.)

The pro-Apple side is on much firmer ground. The X will very likely be good or great. It's too early to say which. I get my panties in a wad when people insist it'll be great as some statement of fact—because that's just an assertion right now. To some it may seem like just semantics, but there is a BIG difference between, "I think the X will sell well" and "The X is a smashing success; get over it."

Hope that makes sense.

Improved production is due to 3000+ students forced by their school to work 11-hour shifts at Foxconn's Iphone X lines.
We all know that is total nonsense. Nobody has forced anyone to work 11 hour shifts. There are SIX students, not 3000+, who Apple found in their audit to have worked overtime. There were ZERO students who were forced to work overtime.

So now that that has been stopped, iPhone X production will fall again?
Absolutely. There are six students (six, not 3000+) that will not be able to make some extra cash by doing some overtime anymore. That will really put Foxconn production behind.

It's funny how these rumors and renders get to us vs. how things are in real life. Many of us nearly died from the "HORRIBLE NOTCH AND GAWD AWFUL CAMERA BUMP" in the leaks and renders...

... in real life, I never notice the notch and the camera bump protrudes less than my case.

Yes. I still think Apple is testing the maximum price elasticity to the extremes of what any consumer item can ever support, but it is a nice phone. The only time I get a little pissed is when I look at a 12.9" iPad PRO and it's cheaper than my phone. That's bananas. From all angles, that's insane.

So then your entire basis for ripping me, is that you *think* he has insider information that he is dutifully passing along for Apple. And obviously that is a pointless debate to have since its unproveable.
Actually, if he has any information that he dutifully passes along for Apple, then it is by definition not insider information anymore.

Shortly after the keynote I cut out a black taped notch and tried it on my iPhone 7
Like any 3 year old kid could have predicted - it obscured lots of essential statusbar info (do not disturb mode, battery percentage, rotation lock, tether status) and lots of landscape video.
Confirming my earlier conclusion that only an UI-lunatic could have designed this.
iPhone X comes with changes to the operating system so that it is aware of the notch and adapts its display. Your iPhone 7 obviously isn't. So comparing an iPhone X and an iPhone 7 with a bit of black tape is nonsense.

Don't make too much of the tracking locations for Apple products being mass shipped from China. In the past we've seen these products making impossible journeys back and forth between locations in China and the U.S., so it appears what we're really tracking is not the item itself but the paperwork.

And Apple has a range of phones now, from iPhone 5s with 32GB to iPhone X with 256GB storage. What matters is total sales, not the sales of any particular model. If someone walks into the store to look at an iPhone X, and walks out with an iPhone 8, Apple is smiling.

Whaha - all those returners paying "restocking fees".
Apparently those phones are sold as new again.
Apple should pay those customers "waiting line reduction fees" instead
And offer the rest "notched pixel discounts", btw
[doublepost=1511691821][/doublepost]
This is not how stock markets work. Apple stock is fairly fixed and hardly follows its mkt cap - whatever news there is. Implying that shareholders profit far less than the company itself.
Something is not working there as it should, really.

No restocking fee if returned in 14 days and they’re unopened so...no argument here :)

Absolutely. The gross margins on the X and 8 Plus are a bit higher based on the teardown costs, but not crazily so.

And with the higher MSRPs, a little demand softening is not a big deal either.

And as for Analysts covering companies... yes, they usually cover them for a long while. yes they develop relationships. Yes, the companies prefer they report things that are favorable to the company. Duh. One of the first things an analyst is supposed to do is ask lots of questions. Conduct interviews with industry and company factors. Get as much information as possible. They then are supposed to give reports in which they reach conclusions. This is what they get paid to do. If all an analyst does is pass along a press release for the company... they would not be employed as an analyst for very long. The fact that you think otherwise makes me highly skeptical of you having been an “analyst for 20 years.” Unless you just mean that you work for an investment company and “analyze companies.” In that case... great... so am I! I mean, i have a business degree also, and i “analyze companies too!”

Well.... this is a "rumours" site, I'm just having an opinion ;) you are completely correct , I cannot prove it ..... that I consider him a puppet PR spokesman for apple. The great thing is that we don't have to agree. If we meet on macfacts.com this debate will be different ? :)

Have a nice evening.

So those people could just save $300 and get an 8 as the video would be about the same size.
Unzoomed (pillar boxed) landscape 16:9 video on the X is larger than the 8 but smaller than the 8 Plus. With the rumored 2018 X Plus, it will be equal to the 8 Plus.

But people bought the X over the 8 because of features: OLED, FaceID, dual cameras and other camera improvements like the f2.4 telephoto lens and dual OIS.

If the only thing a buyer cared about was the size of 16:9 landscape video, they could buy an 8 Plus for $799 and get many of the X features. Or a 6S Plus for $549, for that matter, if they didn’t care about it being 2 year old tech.

Ok so you dont own one, never used . Ok got it thanks!
No I don't own one, I don't tend to purchase things then decide whether I like them after the fact, but there's no point in me saying this as your chosen moniker tells everyone all they need to know about where you stand.

Yes, but what do you expect them to say? Seriously....
Accurate. I work in wireless and I travel to different stores daily and we have plenty of iPhone X in stock. We actually have 14 in stock right now and I am having trouble trying to sell them.

Yesterday, I checked the App Store app and found iPhone X models available in 3 stores around me. I purchased and picked one up two hours later. So how is it that people who ordered in early November still have yet to receive theirs while I got mine on short notice without having to wait at all?

Apple knows that the people that preordered on day 1 are guaranteed sales and that they can be sold an iPhone x in a couple of weeks. By also selling to in store pick ups, they are targeting impulse buyers.

Just get the T-Mobile version, it’s unlocked. Cricket is my provider and it’s working great

AFAIK the GSM versions (T-Mobile/ATT) are inferior than the CDMA Verizon and Sprint versions since those support more bands and are overall better world phones. That's why I bought an unlocked Verizon 7 Plus with the Qualcomm modem instead of the Intel one. I haven't bothered to look at the specs of both X versions but I assume nothing really has changed since last year. I may be wrong and the GSM Xs have Qualcomm modems?

Was it UPS? Phones will sometimes sit for a for a couple of days to clear export. UPS can’t leave for Anchorage until then. Sometimes it’s a mechanical with the aircraft. UPS also uses HKG to top off before the trip across the Pacific. I had the same situation when I was tracking my 6S. :apple:

Soon, Apple retail stores should have more of these in stock for walk in customers and soon sim-free version that I'm currently waiting on.
I paid the Best Buy premium for a sim free one on launch day. I’ll always buy sim free and I don’t know why Best Buy didn’t offer that as an excuse for their $100 premium. At any rate, excellent phone, you’re gonna love it!

Yeahhhh, no. That’s not really how these things work. FedEx probably just has a shipping hub in Korea where a lot of the packages are first routed.

I think you're confused as to who comprises the "anti-Apple" frothing crowd :)

It's usually mostly Apple fans who are unhappy. Happens almost every time there's a change.

It's funny how these rumors and renders get to us vs. how things are in real life. Many of us nearly died from the "HORRIBLE NOTCH AND GAWD AWFUL CAMERA BUMP" in the leaks and renders...

Yep, same as the way that Apple fans nearly had a heart attack with the leaked iPhone 4 design, saying it was a Zune-like industrial shape that Apple would never do.

And now it's like consistently called one of the best iPhone designs ever! Go figure.

Changing topic, Kuo has been pretty darned consistent from the start about what was happening.

It's clear as a bell that he gets tips from inside factories (out of hundreds of thousands of workers, a lot are bound to be willing to get paid to leak info), which is how he knows when production is held up, or there are assembly problems, or when things start to ease up.

It makes no sense to claim he's an Apple PR outlet, since the stuff he says often makes Apple look unable to plan ahead.
