I've had the chance to look at this this weekend. The Apple store I was in had 64 and 256 in space gray this weekend. He reserved one for me but I can't afford it

Any sooth-saying from Ming about the late HomePod?

I will be hanging by a thread waiting to hear his supply and demand predictions...

Straw man argument. That's not what he said. He doesn't have to visualize "all" apps to know whether he will find it objectionable for HIS uses.

He’s still wrong. He hasn’t tried the phone or any Apps. Therefore he has no idea how things “actually” look, only how he “thinks” they look.

It’s ridiculous to judge a product without trying it.

Right!? It's amazing that not one single person bought the X. I wonder why Apple even has it for sale on their website and stores?
"everyone I know" ..
So is rushing to social media/forums to post useless personal opinions and buying choices. Other than having created more useless banter with other members who cares? Many begin to sound like stale Vegas lounge comedians saying the same lines over and over in different threads. Time for some new material.
You mean they are useless to you :rolleyes:

He is the one who made everyone thought that we couldn't get the iPhone before 2018. What a revisionist.

Exactly, he is also the guy who said 2017 would be a massive super cycle.

Turns out iPhone 7 is still the most popular phone right now, 1 year after launch, and there was no super cycle this year!!.. with the 8 cutting production by 50% and the X no where near the same demand as the 7. Could it be, and i know this sounds crazy, that most folk just want a good value and high quality device and don't care for all the wizz bang features ?!?!

Anybody over 5 years old can imagine what gets obtruded by the notch.

This is exactly his point... you are imaging a problem, because you have no actual reality to draw from. You are literally making up problems in your head, based on your imagination.

Why would I want to show him a crappy movie on a cellphone?

Dunkirk was his worst output by far

I don't know, man... Interstellar was some pretty self-indulgent nonsense.

Well I tried it. I was ready to give credence to the "you might like i after you try it" crowd.

I didn't dig it. Would I get used to it? Probably. Do I think it's worth the tradeoffs to me personally? Unfortunately not at this time.

You’re totally right. He should have stubbornly stuck to his original opinion instead of changing it based on more information

Don’t think so ! Everyone I know took a pass on the X !! 6S good enough for me till the 10S+ comes out in 2020.
Funny how anecdotes work. Most who I know upgraded to the X or are wanting to.

So fox and quadcomm is losing stock share cause of the returns and repairs. Demands is high because not everywhere in the world has them, and some people just have to have them regardless of warranty. I don't call that great.

RIP Apple and Steve Jobs.
Lol... Apple is still doomed...

So today I went to the local Apple store (Saturday 11/25). The mall itself was packed, I had a hard time finding a parking spot. Lots of people were buying lots of stuff. Not too many Apple bags. In fact, going into the Apple store I noticed

- There were more Apple sales people there (all in red shirts) than customers except in the back of the store
- The back of the store where everyone waits for their broken crap to get fixed was chock full of people
- No one offered to help or even said "hi" or "happy holidays" to us, we played with the iPads and iPhones for almost an hour
- During that hour there were only a few people walking out of the store with a new purchase, I'd say less than 10. Lots of people walking out empty handed or with their fixed (or still broken) stuff

Really sad. I want to buy some Apple stuff but they make it really hard.

Steady improvements in iPhone X supplies that have seen shipping estimates fall to 1-2 weeks are due to better-than-expected improvements in production since the device's launch, rather than any weakness demand, according to KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who shared the information in a new research report obtained by MacRumors.

iphone-x-angled.jpg

According to Kuo, who frequently shares accurate information from Apple's supply chain, iPhone X production issues "have been well addressed" in recent weeks, with Foxconn's production now at 450,000-550,000 units per day compared to just 50,000-150,000 a month or two ago as Apple geared up to launch the device.

Two of the primary bottlenecks that contributed to tight supplies of the iPhone X have largely been resolved, according to Kuo, with Career quickly making up for lost time after Murata was unable to provide LTE antenna components as originally planned and LG Innotek and Sharp seeing improved yields for the dot projector module of the TrueDepth camera. As a result of the improved production, Kuo believes iPhone X shipments in the fourth calendar quarter could be 10-20 percent higher than he previously estimated, with some orders previously estimated as shipping in the new year being pulled in and shipped before the end of the quarter. That acceleration means Kuo is predicting that iPhone X shipments in the first quarter of 2018 will be flat or slightly lower compared to the fourth quarter.

Apple's financial guidance for the current quarter points toward record performance, suggesting the company is confident any production troubles have been resolved and that demand for the high-end iPhone X will be strong throughout the quarter.

In other words, PUT THIS PHONE ON YOUR XMAS SHOPPING LIST.

wonder when he got a full time job at Apple PR :p it's interesting how he is doing almost weekly updates now ...

Yea.. pretty funny when people do their jobs! I mean... analysts covering companies they get paid to analyse... the gall!
[doublepost=1511654778][/doublepost]
Yes, but what do you expect them to say? Seriously....

In all seriousness... people that can't distinguish between an analyst and the company they cover should not be allowed to post...

I'm more interested in the Apple side projects at this point. The AirPods are awesome for a 1st Gen Product and I can't wait to see the HomePod.

My 8 Kuo like predictions for 2018...

1. iphoneXL - The speculated 6.5inch screen size on a chassis the same size as the current ip8+ will be the most popular iphone next year. Everything on this year's model will be just that little bit better and the Killer App will be the new screen size.

2. Macbook Pro - 3rd gen will hit the sweet spot. All the kinks ironed out and with the new energy efficient processors we should get great battery life on a great machine. It's possible they will have the new face ID thingy built into the camera at the top, but Apple will wait until the year after due to supply constraints.

3. Homepod will sound better than you expect. It will be a little under functioned at first (just like the airpods), but that won't stop people from gobbling them up.

4. Ipads will get that new face ID thingy (as already predicted). But it will be more useful for apps than actual security. I don't see a significant boost in sales for the iPad as 2017's model was a really good release.

5. Mac Mini triumphantly returns!!! Apple releases a slightly larger apple TV like computer. Those waiting all this time will be a little disappointed it's not more powerful, but it'll be a solid machine with something unique as a sales point.

6. Mac Pro will be announced either at WWDC or in September/October. Probably coming in early 2019.

7. Airpods - V2 will be released in 3 colours along with slightly better sound and a few new gestures. They will be 10 dollars more expensive as well. OR they will intro an Airpod Pro version for 39 bucks extra that has better sound and continue to sell Gen 1 at a slightly discounted price.

8. Emoji - Apple will do a deal with Disney and all Disney Characters will become Apple only emoji.

I love how the ones who are knocking the phone don’t even own one lol.

Probably have never held one, used one, or saw one in person.

I can see that.

I looked at an iPhone X in a VZW store a while ago. The notch wasn't as bad in person, though I think they'll eventually revisit how they handle it in software to make it look and feel more natural. I liked the gestures to close apps. But then I walked away thinking that the phone as a whole seemed unremarkable. I was really expecting to be wowed with the screen, and it didn't do much for me.

As you admit, you're using anecdotal data. That's a terrible way of drawing conclusions.

Demand is affected by a lot of things. This is the first year where most consumers across all major carriers are either no longer on subsidized plans or are still on them for no reason. (It's almost invariably a better deal to get off of them once you can now, assuming you don't have a grandfathered unlimited or the like).

People keep trying to draw conclusions here that they simply can't. "Weak" versus "strong" is unknown, and moreover, it's relative to competitors AND the overall market which is affected by macro factors.
Of course all of this is just an assumptions including Kuo’s who gets a front page all the time. Including Wall Street who always makes assumptions all the time. Until Apple gives raw data for everyone nobody knows exactly the performance except Cook and his team. Obviously couple more countries were added for early release. If Kuo’s information is right, then it is safe to say that part of high demand is coming from that section. But Apple been silent and it’s also safe to assume that maybe the demand is not really good as they expected. Nothing new here when everybody is assuming something including you.
