The camera bump is annoying. Why not just make the phone that much thicker and fill up the extra space with more battery?

Thinner / lighter design

Better battery life

Fast wireless charging + reverse charge

Bundled fast charger

Cheaper price with free AirPod promotion

Larger storage capacity for reasonable cost

5G and wireless ax

100hz panel refresh

It’s impossible...Tim Cook screwed the design of iPhone at its tenth anniversary and the brand reputation will get worse due to the notch.

The original creator of iPhone will launch AirPower that can charge your iPhone wirelessly over a distance of approximately 3 meters NOT all the crap about adding more lens that makes the phone look stupid and heavy.

Can they update to 20MP for the back camera please?
Do you display on large screens or print to poster sized paper? Increasing pixels by themselves does not make for better pictures if you are below a threshold. Noise reduction and (lack of or compensation for) lens clarity will have a bigger effect.

but the special coating should help the far-right lens blend into the black bezels for a more aesthetically pleasing look.
I'm disappointed one of the lenses will be far-right and it blending in doesn't really change the fact that it's there.
^This is a really bad joke, I know^

So, what are you missing.. exploding batteries or screens that crack within the first day?

Come ON.

I know you guys are hardcore Apple and all that, and you may choose Apple despite what Samsung offers, but please take an actual look at what Samsung offers on their devices (in the same price category) that Apple doesn't before commenting against them.

The list is long, and every single one of those would be welcome on an Apple device.

Here, I'll help save you some typing:

This sounds good. So we're looking at: usual CPU/GPU performance boost, much larger batteries + reverse wireless charging, a much improved front facing camera, and the addition of an ultra-wide-angle lens to the back camera so far.

I'm hoping iOS 13 brings some sort of night sight style mode to the camera app.
Rumored switch to USB-C, could be next year. Rumored the port is going away all together and will have magsafe instead. They are also working on improved water proofing for underwater photography.
Haptic engine - they want you to feel feedback at every point you touch so to do this they patented an electrical grid underneath the screen that would provide the feedback. Not sure if this year or next.
Thicker phones for larger batteries which makes the camera bump thinner.
In screen finger print reader.
Bundled with the ipad pro fast charger.
Reverse wireless charging
MicroLED screens next year
There's some other things I remember hearing that I can't recall. It was all discussed on everythingapplepro on youtube.

I’ve rarely needed a lens that can capture a wider image. What I’d rather see, and I’m sure a lot of fellow iPhone users feel the same, are features that can handle low-light scenarios better than the current lenses. Quite often I have to fall back to the standard focal length because Portrait mode looks hideous when the lighting isn’t perfect.
I actually bought a wide angle moment lens because I do need it.

Most of what Samsung has is useless and nobody uses those "features". Their cameras also tend to over saturate. The greens on the S10 look horrible. Samsung adds features simply for the sake of adding features and not because people actually want them. I've owned, and still do, many Samsung phones over the years.

They are. At least that's the rumor from some reputable sources.

Time will tell. But current rumors show a lot is coming but most seems to be slated for the 2020 iphones which will be a major redesign.

Not gonna upgrade till it has 10X optical zoom!

yea, the P30 put all current phone cameras to shame. except it's weird color rendering.

Huawei P30 pro here i come.

i wish i could, but Huawei has terrible OS, and as said above the camera special color system make weird color rendering.
i studied many photos and the Iphone still wins in natural color.
but yea the 10X zoom is something i REALLLLLY want.

2019 iPhones are starting to sound interesting

It actually feels quite the opposite for me. The competition is getting really better. I'm actually tempted to get the Samsung S10 5G or maybe the Note 10, but I'm still holding out hope Apple would come out with something truly remarkable come September.

You definitely should. I’m sticking with my xs max and will decide in September if I’m going to upgrade or not.

Personally I still don’t think Samsung offers smartphones with components that can compare with what’s found in the iPhone, airpods, the Apple Watch and apples ecosystem are other reasons that switching to Samsung is just not worth it.

Sony has been doing an incredible job of mobile phone camera's over more than 2 decades ... starting first with their partnership with Ericsson on the SonyEricsson K750 which at that time for feature phones revolutionized mobile phone cameras as a viable solution.

Huh??? The 6s isn't remotely the same as the XS Max lol

Still on a 6S+

Best phone ever made (for its time)

But I think instead of complaining about he lack of upgrades we should be congratulating Apple on making such a great phone that it’s still completely usable 4 years later, mostly thanks to a cheap battery swap + iOS12 speed boost.

I mean, doesn't this just sound like an S cycle upgrade to you?

Okay with upgraded cameras, as long as they can still make it thinner. Cuz, thin is what it's all about, right? In another 5 years, we'll be measuring phone thickness in nano meters, and the iPhone Flex will be a big hit. Wrap it around your wrist like a watch, or stick it to the windshield for a heads-up moving map and speedometer. Or, get this, make a phone call with it!
