It means a smoother UI experience. It’s called ProMotion.
Hmm...OK, well I have the latest iPad Pro and I honestly can’t tell the difference between it and the previous model that didn’t have ProMotion. But maybe that’s just me. I’ve never had an issue with UI smoothness on iOS.

This reminds me of all the 1080p/4K discussions when most people aren’t looking at their iPhone thinking god the display is awful.

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSS!!!! Slimmer notch on 5.4"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄

I was seriously worried about what they would do with a normal sized notch on the 5.4" screen when those screen leaks came out a few weeks ago. Reduce info on the "ears"? This is such great news. Good job, Apple.
Woah. Not that big of a deal.

If all these end up true, then I will gladly stay with my 11 Pro. I couldn't care less about 5G and squared corners in the design. The rest are the usual incremental upgrades we get every year (camera and SoC).

I'm not leaving the house until there's a viable vaccine that a large portion of the world's population actually uses so.....no need for a new phone for quite a long time. I can invest the $20,000 I'll save on the 10" iPhone Super Pro Max 1TB sub-6GHz-mmwave plus zero plus one max submm Pro One zero LIDAR iPhone.

I had an Android phone with a 120Hz display and even with a 4000mAh battery setting the display to 120Hz would drain the thing in a few hours, so I completely understand why Apple is not going to ship this feature. Anybody who says they want this feature does not understand its impact on battery life and would not want to use this feature if they had it on an iPhone.
It may drain it quicker but my note ultra still lasts all day on 120hz and this is with exynos.

It really isn’t, it’s a great feature and once you are used to 120hz you can’t go back to 60hz. For the price As well no phone should be on 60hz.

I have the 2017 iPad Pro, I think it has pro motion, but personally I can’t tell the difference between it and my iPhone 11 Pro Max. That’s not to say it won’t be nice, it’s just that outside of this forum and tech enthusiast, most people don’t care.

Not sure what the freaking big deal with 120hz on the phone just because Android has it?
I think its because Apple lead the way in the mobile world with the mass production of ipad pro 4-5 years ago, not because android world has it, few android phones has dynamic refresh rate
Again, if you look close/try them...a promotion is a nice tech for the big display
An 6" promotion is less notable than an 8" for example
Same on ipads...the 12.9" is more immersive than the 11" but, but that doesnt mean iphone should not have this tech...its a bless of smoothness for the eyes...everything in motion its a bless/ better

It is noticeable, going from my note ultra to the iphone it was noticeable for me.

However the point is for a starting price of 1099 it nees’s to have it. Even a damn $200 android phone has it...granted with LCD but still it exists.

We went through a super update cycle in 2018. New phones (XS and XR) and iPads (iPad Pro 12.9 and iPad) for me and my wife. And a Series 4 Apple Watch for me. I was expecting another big update cycle this year. Although I’m keeping an open mind until the official specifications come out, from the posted rumors looks like it will just be a watch update this year. If so, this will be the first time I’ve keep an iPhone more than two years.

By the way, does anyone really need to keep tabs on their blood oxygen level?

Without 120hz what even is this upgrade? The body redesign is great but other than that all we're getting is A14, 5G (mostly useless), and a LiDaR sensor?

This was the most excited I'd been for an iPhone since the X and that is quickly deflating.

Plus, if Apple ships a $1000+ phone without 120hz or some other killer feature it's going to be absolutely killed by reviewers just like the XS was. 90 degree angles instead of curves isn't really exciting if it's the only thing to be excited about.
