Massive dealbreaker. Only reason I would have considered upgrading was to charge my Watch on vacation, currently I just dont even bother taking it when I go away somewhere. Roll on 2020.

Valid if that’s really what you were looking forward to. But c’mon, how much room does that 5w charger take up? Could you use the same charger as you use for your phone?

Get ready for a Tim Cook yawn fest! Trump would be a better keynote speaker. At least he'd sell it.

So the new iPhone 11 will basically be the old iPhone Xs will basically be the old X. No Touch Id, no USB-C, no Device-to-Device charging, no new features, still the notch. Likely new colours. I can imagine what Steve Jobs would have told to his team.

Too bad on the charging. Very useful feature on my Note 10, especially for my Galaxy buds and Watch Active. 2020 might be the year of the iPhone, but 2019 looks like it's shaping up to be just another year of spec bumps. We'll see...

Why don't they just go with "iPhone" for the XR-type model, and "iPhone Pro" for the normal and Max-type models.

Do people really need a differentiator for the Max-type model if it's only the size that's different?

I don't wear an Apple Watch, so I don't need bilateral charging. I'm really excited to see if they improve battery life across the range. Given that I'm eligible for a free upgrade, that and low light camera improvements are all I really care about.

who said we should see innovation every year ?
Sometimes improvement is better than innovation, especially if innovation means gimmicks like the two way wireless charging.

Yeah, who needs innovation? Innovation is boring. For the $1,000, just give me a little more speed and an incementally better camera. Oh, and throw in a couple more emojis.

If rumors are correct I would wait a one more year to update. Next year's model will get rid of nodge, have usb-c connector and have in screen fingerprint sensor.
You do realize that all that you mentioned is a rumor as well, just as bi-lateral charging was a rumor. I wouldn’t be surprised if two of those rumors turned out to be false or half true for the 2020 iPhones.

All I’m going to say is, it’s Apple. Expect some disappointment. Apple doesn’t pack an iPhone with useless features as other companies, but at the same time, they tend to surprise us.

Good question.
I need a new iPhone, but I am not interested in these features at all... and at that price range....pff.... no thanks.
I think my iphone 7 Plus will last one more year.

Also, iPad pro 11 2018 is great as well as the MBP 2018 15 inch core i7 and my Apple Watch 4th gen.
I will be going out for a run and some exercise today and skip the conference... I can read the summaries later.

I do hope they are on track with iOS 13, iPad OS and Catalina though.

Well, next year the phones will not be any cheaper, so I guess you'll keep your phone forever.

The phone barely lasts a day on a full charge. Last thing I would want is another way to drain it.

Device to device charging is the only thing that would have made me buy a wireless case for my airpods. But who am I kidding, i'm keeping my X for another year!

It's not a gimmick at all when you are talking about charging devices that have a battery that is at most 1/10th the size of the phone.

What is crazy is that one of the biggest gripes many people have with the iPhone and just about every other smartphone on the market, is that battery life is not long enough - yet people want their limited battery life phones to give up even more of its life to charge their headset or even another smartphone? That just does not make sense to me.

I think the biggest boost to battery tech that I've really enjoyed is fast charging when connected by wire to an 18 watt charging plug (from my 2018 iPad Pro 12.9"). The fact that I can get a big boost in battery life in a very short period of time is a huge plus. I've used it multiple times when traveling for work, where I was down in the 20% range at the end of the day and only had a short amount of time between meetings and going to dinner with customers. Just 15 to 20 minutes on the charger in the hotel room and I'm back over 50% charge, which is fantastic.

Damn shame it may not be a deal breaker but it’s a useful feature to have and to not have it when it was one of the other main features is a big fail really when Samsung have it and upgraded it to be over 5w charging on the back

Maybe they travel overnight so rarely (or are so disorganized) that they don't have a charge-my-stuff travel kit? I have a small multiport USB charger, couple of short lightning cables and a couple short microusb, plus a short Apple Watch charger. If I'm going somewhere overnight I just toss the kit in my bag and I'm good to go.

Totally agree... I have a sweet little kit that I have refined. Single charger with USB-C and A + a Lightning cable built in, a multi head cable and a spare USB-C and Lightning cable. Small watch charger. Also, the charger is a battery as well. Handles my MacBook, iPad Pro, iPhone and Watch in one small kit.

No Two Way Charging is going to suck. Guess Apple can't figure out how to do any type of Qi Charging.
