So the new iPhone 11 will basically be the old iPhone Xs will basically be the old X. No Touch Id, no USB-C, no Device-to-Device charging, no new features, still the notch. Likely new colours. I can imagine what Steve Jobs would have told to his team.
Apple never promised those features lol, they were rumors, nothing more.

Personally, Face ID works wonders on my Xr, any issues can be solved by allowing it to rescan and log in the new appearance. It’s way faster on my iPad Pro so I don’t need Touch IS, but for others, options are better. With the notch, I’d prefer if Apple reduced it to the size of the 11” iPad Pro. USB-C seems problematic on my Pro, as I fear that the connector may break when trying to unplug it so I’d prefer if that connector did not come on the iPhones.

I think it would just be a gimmick feature like on the Samsung’s. It’s supposedly really slow as is + draining your phone battery that we usually want to last the longest. Also the fact you’d need to keep your phone still facing down is quite an inconvenience and I’d honestly not even use it, unless someone needed an emergency charge..

I see myself using it for the AirPods case, not to charge other phones.

Sounds to me like you're the major disappointment, and you're taking out your resentfulness on a corporation. Good thing it's too successful enough to care.
Why is that? In the recent past most if not all details leaked and so we knew what was being revealed. This could be the same. So, if we go by that and all we know is all we get, would you not say that the headline of the invitation was too arrogant? Its the title of the invitation that is the dealbreaker here because its setting us up for something great but the leaks don't support it. So one side is wrong.
And because of that I've stated what I did. When one is critical of Apple does that mean to you that that person has issues as you indicated? Or maybe you are right and I should visit a therapist :p

A spouse, friend, etc.? It's handy if one of you has a full charge and the other is very low.

Handy to them, battery draining for you. Sounds selfish but I see it as personal responsibility.
I wrote in another post in this thread the world is made up of takers and givers.
At my age I’ve finally figured out how to separate the two.

who said we should see innovation every year ?
Sometimes improvement is better than innovation, especially if innovation means gimmicks like the two way wireless charging.
Well for an event with invites titled "By innovation only" there had damn well be SOMETHING innovative and never seen before.

Hopefully they were somehow able to keep the true innovation a secret but I'm doubtful...

Well, IF the event turns out to be crappy, then that's a fair assessment. But you can't know that for sure yet. And if all the leaks are true, some will find it a crappy upgrade, others will find it great. So it's a tough one. But it was just a little annoying to see you write it off before knowing for sure... maybe I should visit the therapist in a plot twist.. lol

Same here, it'll be nice if FaceID works while the phone is lying on a table. (like the iPad)

All the fuss about USB-C? I rarely plug my phone in anywhere, the only time is when I'm traveling and need a charge. But... battery case generally handles that. People complain for the sake of it

Probably just me but I really dislike the sound of the iPhone being named 'Pro'. The iPhone 'Pro Max' sounds even worse!
Got to agree with that. The "Pro" moniker used to indicate advanced versions of software or hardware that had features only "professional" uses would use as part of their work, as disguised from basic versions. Now it just means "the expensive version".

It's not necessarily about traveling lean. Think about traveling internationally. Those American plugs are pretty valuable. How many converters do you want to carry in addition to your chargers?

‘One set. Rotate what needs charging.

I really miss the old days when we would just have 1 phone, a Macbook, and a Macbook Pro.

Feels so silly to have Pro versions of the Pro Models.

In a vacuum sounds great -but Apple continues to sell previous models for many years and this will bring confusion - and more importantly - next year - what do you name it?

iPhone (Sep 2020 edition)
iPhone Pro (Sep 2020 edition)
iPhone Pro Max (Sep 2020 edition)
Simple:
iPhone Grande
iPhone Vente
iPhone Trenti

(also available in Latte and Mocha)

The phone barely lasts a day on a full charge. Last thing I would want is another way to drain it.

Thing is though, I would love to be able to use it as a watch charger when I travel. Plug in my phone to charge overnight, flip it over and set the watch on it and have both charge. That would be super awesome! Same thing at work. Every now and then my watch drains really fast and goes dead at work (once every couple months or so) and I have a phone charger right there at my desk, but not a watch charger. So being able to do the same thing there would be really handy.
