I may be in the minority, but I’m really looking forward to hearing about the new Apple TV and iPad Pro(assuming rumors are correct).

My iPhone XS Max is more than capable of handling my current needs at the moment....of course I say that every year and end up upgrading sooooo.....

My 1 year old iPhone is fine. Apple Watch is fine, although some additional health tracking might be enough to upgrade. My 18 month old iPad is fine. Incremental improvements are important, but non-incremental are what gives people the "must have" upgrade fever (e.g. potentially 5G next year).

That's where I'm at too - my 8+ is in great shape. My S3 is in great shape. I just bought a refurb'd iPad Pro 10.5 to replace my original air. Nothing I'm hearing me is tempting me to upgrade any of those this year. 2020 should be a big jump though.

Can anyone keep up with the names anymore?

Plus, Max, S, SE, C, R, Pro
S Plus, S Max, Pro Max

Why did they change Plus to Max and C to R in the first place. Now the rumor suggests renaming the Base(model) to Pro and R to Base while on the technical side Pro is Base and new Base is budget?!

The same could be said about AirPower honestly. There were rumors even by Kuo that production is underway, then a few days later Apple announced that AirPower didn’t meet Apple’s standards so it was cancelled. As always, expect the unexpected when it comes to Apple. Everyone is hyping up the 2020 iPhones yet with Apple’s track record, we should not expect what the rumor mills pump out.
True, hence why I was trying to be objective and include "unless they surprise us" there too.
I don't really care about 2020 because people seem to be obsessed about 5G which to me is not as big as people make it. 3G to 4G was a big jump and noticeable but 5G won't be as massive. Sure the speeds will be crazy, but it will take years for the networks to be developed and for most tasks and average users it won't mean that much. And the laser thing although great it doesn't sounds like a hype thing.
Phones matured for sure but in that case lets have the innovation elsewhere. For example Apple Watch has so much potential and I would see that as one are where Apple can really make a difference. I hope they will really aim to have it as your "personal doctor" kinda thing.
Airpower was what you said but the result was there. I do get your point though

Reverse wireless charging was always a gimmick anyway (and only a rumor at that). About the only thing it might be useful for would be charging your AirPods. Anything else it's just far too slow.

PhoneArena tested the Galaxy S10 reverse charging speeds. They found 1 hour charging gave the Galaxy Ear Buds 2 hours listening time. That's pathetic. Who's going to leave their phone face down for an hour because they're "in a rush" and need to charge their earbuds? The whole point of reverse charging is if you get stuck and need a quick charge. It's anything but quick.

I just saw more images, supposedly from some Apple preview, that mirror the Verizon ad. I recognize it could be a giant Photoshop conspiracy, but it looks more and more promising.

I'm just not sure what a new ATV could offer at this point that would justify an upgrade. 8k? Spec bump?

That’s true. With Lightning, I don’t need to use as much effort to unplug my phone, yet with USB-C, I have to use more force to remove the connector. That’s where my issue is with Type-C. It may be that the port is a bit tighter on my Pro, or it could be that the connector really likes my Pro lol, but one problematic experience is enough for me, considering that I’m paying a hefty price for Apple products that I don’t replace for 3 to 5 years at a time.

Agree more force is required to disconnect - but that doesn't worry me. Ask me in a few years whether any connectors have worn out or broken. The one use of USB-C that I really regret is for the power connection on the MacBooks. I feel that I have to be a lot more careful when using a MacBook in public or cramped areas, like the tables at many airports.

They innovated new marketing schemes to siphon more money out of peoples wallets, or at the very least, put them in debt on the Apple credit card.

Individuals are responsible for how much money they spend or not; not Apple, not Citi, not AMEX, not Discover. You're implying that Apple, et al., have unfettered access to consumers bank accounts and that consumers have no choice in the matter.

iPhone Pro Max?
The whole thing is stupid. Either you are a pro or you are not. How can you be max of anything when u r already a pro? Wtf.

My prediction, the new names are just an excuse to charge even more. Giving those rumors, what makes it a Pro over simply a Max. I guess the price

iPhone Pro Max, starting at only 1,349€ with 64 GB capacity cuz ... COURAGE

Thing is though, I would love to be able to use it as a watch charger when I travel. Plug in my phone to charge overnight, flip it over and set the watch on it and have both charge.

Yes - using it to overnight charge both devices with a single charger sounds like a much more useful feature than using a phone that already has less-than-stellar battery life as a "power bank".

Maybe they couldn't even make that work fast enough to be useful (bear in mind, with electronics, "inefficient" is often synonymous with "gets really hot!").

It's pretty much all going to be for Apple Arcade at this point. 8K doesn't really have enough content, and the current version has no trouble pushing 4K HDR with Dolby Atmos.

I think there are more renovations than innovation regarding the event and might be a huge disappointment for anyone attending it live.

Already got my case for my new iPhone 11 Pro :)

Anticipating these Apple Events is SO different lately. Most leaked rumors turn out to be true and boil down to faster processor, better camera, & better screen for iPhones. Always cracks me up when they say "this is the best [insert Apple product name] we've ever made!"
It better be!! o_O

Just hours ahead of today's Apple Event at Steve Jobs Theater, where the company is slated to unveil new iPhone and Apple Watch models, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has shared several last-minute expectations.

tim-cook-wwdc19.jpg

First, Gurman has revised his prediction for the names of the 2019 iPhones. He now expects the next iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max to be called the iPhone 11, iPhone Pro, and iPhone Pro Max respectively. He previously expected the lineup to include the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro in two sizes.

Second, he expects Apple to unveil a new 10.2-inch iPad today, with previous rumors suggesting it will be a replacement for the $329 lower-end 9.7-inch iPad. Pricing and other details remain to be seen.

Third, Gurman has backed analyst Ming-Chi Kuo's report that the widely rumored device-to-device charging feature on 2019 iPhones has been canceled. In a research note seen by MacRumors, Kuo said the feature has possibly been abandoned because "the charging efficiency may not meet Apple's requirements."

2019 iPhones were rumored to feature a Qi-based device-to-device charging feature allowing for an Apple Watch, AirPods, and other accessories to charge on the back of the iPhones, similar to Wireless PowerShare on the Galaxy S10.

Apple's keynote begins at 10 a.m. Pacific Time. Apple will provide a live stream on its website, through its Apple Events app for the Apple TV, and even on YouTube for the first time. MacRumors will have up-to-the-minute coverage of all of Apple's announcements on our website and via @MacRumorsLive on Twitter.

I think it would just be a gimmick feature like on the Samsung’s. It’s supposedly really slow as is + draining your phone battery that we usually want to last the longest. Also the fact you’d need to keep your phone still facing down is quite an inconvenience and I’d honestly not even use it, unless someone needed an emergency charge..
I’ve always said that’s the dumbest thing for a phone to have is to help someone charge their phone. With normal use my phone last the whole day maybe two days or at least until morning. The reason Samsung has it is to offset low battery life in their phones.

iPhone - +1 camera and spec bump.

No new Watch. No one more thing...

They needed an event why? (Assuming this is all true.)
