so like no one notices the white objects and black squares around?
Possible cause someone deleted pictures of the tablet. Someone got their hands on that HD and did a HD recovery and got a fragmented image.

Guy works on tablet. His HD crashes. Gives to long haired IT support guy to fix. IT guy recovers image and posts on internet to spite apple for being in IT support.

I also wonder if Apple has worked out a deal with any company to supply free 3G to support downloads, like the Kindle (at least I think Sprint supplies free EVDO for Kindle users downloading content).

Not sure if you are aware of this but AZ wraps the price of the connection into the cost of the goods. I heard its like .0015/meg or something like that, probably wrong. So you could imagine the pricing if it were like this for Apple.

Seattle is also AZ country so you *should* be aware of this ;)

AT&T has taken its sweet time to add tethering features. Did they delay the service for a reason? Tomorrow is the perfect time to surprise iPhone users with a tethering option to the tablet.

I'm sure it won't happen, but here's hoping....! :apple:

Those photos came from inside a lab. By the person working on it.

It's to block out the face of the person taking the picture, and the post-it over the screen (probably says something like "prototype 5" or something.)

Bummed that this is... it. No multitasking?

The black and white rectangles are there to keep the photographers identity secret.

Look at the white ones and it may be the reflection of the persons face.

I was just thinking about this. I don't expect it, but it would be pretty cool.

I like this guys thinking but he's got some balls to do something like this. Someone's getting fired for this. Apple security is probably going nuts right now at 11:30 at night

Did anyone notice the "flip page" at the bottom right of the screen? Do you think this has to do with multi-tasking? Why would this be on the Maps application?

I was hoping "swipe to left" would be for reading through pages.

UPDATE: NEVERMIND, I'm stupid, they have a page flip on the current app for switching through views, dropping pins, etc.

I think it's crap. Calacanis may be a big name in the web-startup world, but he's nothing in Apple's view. They didn't show the CEO of AT&T what an iPhone looked like months into their contract. No way a beta tablet of is floating out there.

And this was before he started spewing off crazy/insane specs.

Maybe you're right but Calacanis is not someone to talk out of his butt. Those kind of tweets ruin your name. Being as he's an NY guy and already rich, he has no particular need to sully his name for Twitter hits.

LAST MIN-THEORY. I thought i'd write it :)

So i just looked at the rest of the images this truly does seem like the apple tablet.

I think the hidden borders are the four speakers ? and this could be apple's new maps application.

I remember a rumor that the way we 'INTERACT' with the tablet is going to be wats unique. and i think it makes to use the MAGIC WAND patents. and that we will have a rectangular cube like Wii ? something of the shape of a USB stick. that makes it turns the page ? like u were turning the page of a book etc. and gaming etc. that would be quite fun. ithink.

Furthermore it would be great to see an OS X snow leopard compatibility here. Maybe a slightly larger keyboard?

Still doesn't look like we'd have any haptic feed back like they were talking about. but those are ways apple could super-develop the tablet!

I think the iLife touch program is a no brainer from all the hype about it. i truly hope for that.

I also think ATT will have a trick up their sleeve with the tethering!. WHY Did apple give us a removable SIM card tray and a specific tool ? do you ever wonder that? Easily transferrable ? : ) ATT will get some love again if this happens! haha.

Also Wouldn't it make sense for apple to make products that resonate its highest quality products? with all the internal juice *software* being identical. to furthermore use this strategy to subconsciously convince customers that if one APPLE product is this great. why not the others ?

Alright so if i am right. that will be awesome. if i am totally off. then i thik i'll go dig myself a hole haha.

This event has been hyped up too much and i htink the McGraw-Hill CEO was softening the blow (good or bad)

i'd love to hear an opinion on my theory cheers!

tweet me if ya want. same s/n :D:apple:

If its near $1000 and tied to a cellular carrier or contract even at just a few hundred $$$ less its still a fail to me. But there are plenty of people who could use it I suppose.

The existing Maps.app basically has the same flip page thing, just as a toolbar button rather than part of the map itself.

Made the image brighter in PS

I got one of the images and took it to photoshop and played around with the "Shadow/Highlight" setting to reveal more detail in the shadow areas and there seems to be another circular indentation at the top...maybe another home button? Camera? Maybe I'm just seeing things haha but it's interesting. http://i46.tinypic.com/30bgq46.jpg

Do you guys think this is not Google Maps but maybe Bing Maps? What about Apple Maps? Why not? Didn't they have a patent for it? http://www.9to5mac.com/apple-google-latitude-functionality-maps-2546345

This anticipation is killing me...we have like 11 more hours to go! Ughhh.

I guess we'll see. So you think fingerprint reader and solar pad on back then? :)

no - the UI has been modified from the iphone version

Search/directions is now in top left, gps lock in middle, and "flip page" as you put it is the map settings (sattelite/map/hybrid/pins/traffic)

Looks pretty convincing. We'll all see soon enough when Steve unveils the real thing later today.

Hope this person has been very careful not to leave any identifying info on the images.

Is this legit? Mahalo founder, Jason:

My Organic Chem book costs around $200...I would be ecstatic if they charged 10% of that for textbooks.

Textbooks? You wish. That article was mentioning typical hardcover books (novels). A price of a textbook will not dive 90%. Those college textbooks are updated virtually every year and have a team of people working on it.

Like I said before, he probably think's it's funny

Guys, there is no way this is an Apple Maps thing, I don't think it's ready yet. I wish we had more pictures but this guy only had a couple of seconds to snap these.
