not true i have everything in apples eco system and wouldn't switch but these boring updates are annoying me i don't care for dark mode not used it ever on any app or Mac i want simple things like remove annoying home bar and give me something fresh but nope just few minor updates like everything apple is doing now days

Your comment epitomises MacRumors. iOS 12 had a massive performance boost for older devices which is far more technically versed than changing a few icons. There's always stuff that can be improved, yes, but it's never as bad as people say.

Update the UI - people complain about form over function. "What about the days of Snow Leopard where performance was the only update? Steve would be rolling in his grave."

Update the performance - people complain that it looks the same. "What about the days of Leopard where they actually made differences to how the OS looked? Steve would be rolling in his grave."

Poor Jobs must have been spinning like a rotisserie chicken since 2011.

LOL, that's actually a lie, because I was not blown away

iPhone 7 Plus. Facebook Messenger’s Dark Mode. Looks great to me.

If iOS13 doesn't have a complete refresh and redesign after the lacklustre iOS12 I'll be so disappointed. The UI is plain and simply horrible. I cant believe we've had those ***** icons for 6 years from a company that is supposes to be world class when it comes to design.
iOS 12 had to be "lacklustre" and fix all the bugs from iOS 11, so I didn't have much to complain. But yeah, I expect more from iOS 13, beyond dark mode and a revamped reminders app. To be fair we need to wait until WWDC to get a glimpse of what else is new.

Having said that, may be the UI revamp will happen only with iOS 14, considering the gen-1 UI lasted 6 versions and it took iOS7 to get a new look.

The only thing I'd really like is the ability to multitask on the XS max. Mainly, I'd like to be able to minimize a video screen (from videos app, Comcast, app, etc) to a little square and be able to use safari, etc while the video is playing in the corner or somewhere. Kind of like they already have on the iPad. Not sure if you can do this already through jailbreak but it seems about time to start to bring multitasking to the iPhones...

I hope we not only see just app updates. Party because Reminder app gets an update? After one year? *lol*

Come on, want to have nice Operating System updates. iPad must replace my MacBook for 100% because this bad keyboard.

Let us get started with the "There is no new home screen, Apple's dead, Steve is rolling" comments. I'm waiting

OK, you asked for it... Apple died with Steve, which is rolling over in his grave, because of "bean counter" Timmy and his lack of good ideas.

For the first time ever i kinda wish i had an android for 2 multitasking apps and pip its a sad time to be an apple fan deep in the eco system

I don't understand why people say the majority of people like it. Leave iOS as it is out of the box but give some depth to the customisation options so people who really do want to stay in the ecosystem feel it can be re-freshed at the users desire.

Based on that leaked find my icon I dont have much faith to be honest.

I hate these news threads. All the whiners hang out here.

Anyone expecting some sort of fundamental re-thinking of iOS every year are not thinking straight. Apple is about user experience for the 98% of users who don't haunt these forums. Most of them have voted with their feet and chosen the Apple UI over the more customizable Android UI. That's just the facts of life. As we've seen, it takes everything has for Apple to keep providing yearly updates, and even then they had to take a "breather" year with iOS 12 to bring the system level stuff up to snuff.

If you really, really want to be free of the grid, choose Android. Its that simple.

im not asking for a major change but at least spice it up a bit, when you have the same look for years it does get boring, dark mode isnt exciting for me, I want little things like hide homebar etc but just something to get excited about again, it feels like iOS and apple has forgotten what made them so special, even apple fans like my self are moaning, I have every device and won't change but I just the spice back from apple

No home redesign?
I'm honestly not sure what home screen redesign you're expecting on iPhone / iPod touch. The ability to add more icons per page would be nice, and maybe a return to the aesthetics of iOS 6 and earlier, but that's all I can think of.

The home screen on iOS is like the Dock on MacOS. Not much about it has changed, because Apple mostly got it right early on. Use a Mac running 2002's OS X Jaguar and the Dock looks / works much the same as today, aside from the different icons and addition of Stacks in Leopard.
