It never needed to begin.

I remember speaking to a friend on the phone who claimed it was bigger than Antennagate. In retrospective, it obviously wasn't. It barely lasted a week.

If they made the iPhone 6S stronger as per article, assume an issue exists?

A different manufacturing method or a different material was definitely used.

Look at the iPhone 6 (Plus) on the right with the "milling marks" left behind compared to the left where it has a smooth, continuous flow process

Liquidmetal?

Again... who says anyone is fixing anything? They've got a new material. Do you know the cost? Because it could be cheaper. It's very simple... when upgrades present themselves, and margins remain the same, you'd be stupid not to take them. And like with the Gorilla Glass, since Corning is updating their entire production lines for their new glasses, it's an at-par upgrade for them to purchase, and likely more expensive to stand still.

And yes, "some" did not. A small fraction of the whole. Just like I should be able to buy a gallon of milk that has a sell-by date 2 weeks out and not have it spoil before then... "some" don't make it that far before going bad. Or, in the electronics world, I should be able to buy a TV and have it last longer than the year warranty... "some" don't make it that far... hence, the warranty guaranteeing me it does.

You're right, I am sure they just randomly decided to make the phone stronger after people had an issue with them. Just like they convienently and surely totally randomly changed the antenna structure for the 4s. After people had issues with disconnecting calls. Just all randomlike and junk.

I don't get why people are apologizing. Even if we pretend issues didn't exist how does it hurt you as a consumer that Apple is:

- using stronger aluminum
- upping DRAM to 2GB and hopefully more
- fix antenna issue
- adding split view and PiP
- etc.?

Good to see Apple finally coming clean about Bendgate.

Now, we just need to see a flush camera, no antenna lines, 32GB standard, 2 GB RAM, a better battery and a 4" size.

Bendgate was from those who treated their phones carelessly not an issue with the phone itself.

My iPhone 6 Plus from launch is fine. Its been in slim fit jeans and in my pocket on long drives or in the cinema for a couple of hours and no bending.

It would be good to see the camera flush again rather than poking out. Antenna lines are unavoidable unless you want degraded signal.

Yes... just like they "randomly" changed from Gorilla Glass 1 to 2... and 2 to 3... and now are changing 3 to 4... is glass breakage an enormous issue? Or is there simply an opportunity to improve their device? Ever work with a product manager, in any industry?

And I'm pretty sure the antenna issue was very real, since, ya know... they had a press conference where they said as much, identified a very precise location on the phone where it was occurring, and then gave everyone that wanted one free cases...

Obviously... it's not random. But it also does not mean it was a mass issue. Antennagate and bendgate appears to have affected a very small number of customers. However, I imagine they are taking steps to improve the sturdiness of the 6s to help eliminate any problems and provide a stronger phone.

I can't imagine any product manager who is on the ball not looking to improve this after market feedback. But it does not mean the current product didn't perform just fine or that there's any big apple cover-up. It's just product development.

Phones have reached a point for me where like computers before them, they are good enough so that new ones just can't be as shiny anymore.

Why? Rumors have suggested they're using the same aluminum as Watch. Couldn't it be that they took some of the R&D from the Watch and are now applying it to iPhone?

What antenna issue is Apple fixing?

And here we go again. It didn't happen to me so it didn't happen to anyone. Just stop.

They didn't change gorilla glass versions until new phones came out. Not on S refreshes. My only problem is that they deny deny deny and then change it later without saying a word about it. It's insulting when they try to gloss over it and make people feel like it was their fault in the first place. It would be nice if Apple was as honest as all of the people on macrumors forums thought they were.

Just like the battery recall that you wouldn't even know about if it weren't for fan pages like this. They sure as hell didn't email anyone they knew was affected. Not like they couldn't or anything, they know every device connected to every email out there. Instead they quietly admitted they had an issue with batteries that literally weeks before they were saying we're not problematic. It's just dirty, like every single other corporation in the world. I just want people to stop blindly following apple assuming that they are perfect and do no wrong, ever. It's annoying.

It's not just material, they made changes to the placement of the screws. Read the article please!

I can honestly say that I thought the bend thing was nonsense. My 6plus was in a case as soon as I got it, I treat everything I own very very well....on my 6th iPhone haven't broken one or scratched a screen....nothing (I know it sounds crazy). I keep my phone in my front pocket and have never even tried on a pair of skinny jeans...but a week and a half ago I got my 6plus replaced because something was under the lens and you could see it in my pictures....the genius helping me showed me my phone was starting to bend. I didn't believe her and asked her to hand it back to me...sure enough. Apple needs to make these cases stronger, if I bent it....then it bends too easily. Am I still gonna fork over the cash for an iPhone? Sure! But I am concerned as someone who never broke anything and treats devices very well that under 100% normal use it can be bent.

Changing the placement of a few screws makes for a stronger body? One its all speculation and two I would assume the layout inside of the 6S won't be exactly the same as the 6 so different screw placement wouldn't be surprising.

I'm really bored with iOS particularly on the iPhone, I'm also bored of the iPhone to be honest as nothing much has changed.

That's why I've been an Android user for many years now, mainly because of the customization options in the OS. Would love to see something like that in iOS, I understand that Apple wants iOS easy to use which it is. But you gotta admit things get pretty boring when it's only a row of icons..

I have not switched from iPhone and probably won't due to ecosystem. But I agree, stale and boring. iOS is just the same. Forever. The same.

Coming clean?

1. There wasn't really a QC problem in the first place. Bendgate was merely a publicity stunt.
2. This is a leaked part, not a formal apology from Apple.

It's more like ... there was never an issue in the first place, but just to silence the idiots who want something to cry about we'll make sure there's NO POSSIBLE ROOM for complaints.

I'm going back to a 6+ in September.

I got a 6+ on launch day, but wasn't 100% comfortable with it.

I think in hindsight it was due to going from a 5S in a super thin case to a 6+ in a chunky Spigen case, so I returned it on day 13 for a 6.

However, more and more lately I've kinda missed the 6+, so I'll be selling my 6 come September and moving up to a 6S+.
