i found these three mockups, i figure the nem MBP will be along the lines of these, or at least i hope

This bottom one is interesting with the black bezel and chrome edges - it really follows suit with the iPhone.

There won't be Blu-ray, and therefore there won't be HDMI. Also, no one builds cellular networking into a computer. That's what the ExpressCard slot is for.

FireWire 3200 would rock, though. I say replace the 800 with that (since they're backwards compatible) and add another USB on each model.

I wouldnt say HDMI is dependent on Blu-Ray... maybe you want to rent and HD movie on iTunes and then plug it into your HDTV, who knows?

Yes, and that is good because we want supposedly pro products to look like the iPhone?

Btw, I earlier said that I liked the top one. I still like the shape and the thinness of it, but the thing is, take a look at that black bezel. It would add almost two inches to the lenght and depth of the MBP. Who wants that?

Agreed, looks like a PC laptop...Apple please be smart with the re-design of the MBP.

I would like HDMI even minus Blu-ray. I don't really care about Blu-ray at all.

HDMI, FireWire 3200, and another USB on each. That'd be nice.

Oh okay, just checking hah I see no reason to not have HDMI, its the most advanced and compact video and audio output (that i'm aware of) so why not.

Intel is going to officially roll out Centrino 2 next week, any chance we'll see the updated MacBook Pro with the new casing within the next few weeks? considering Nehalem mobile processors won't be released till next summer possibly, i'm guessing that the new casing's debut coinciding with Centrino 2 AKA Montevina is quite likely.
thoughts?

I think the earliest we'll see this thing is one week from tuesday (a very long shot) and the absolute latest we should see it is Jan. 09.

My most realistic guess would be August, October, or November.

I Am no expert, but as I was early taking a look at the website (German one) I notice that a red "star" can be found left of the Price. And when you try to "buy it" it redirects to the main page www.apple.com/de/...

So I bleive this up-date will come much sooner... Last possibility is August...

:)

ALL the products on the site have a star next to them

Bigger trackpad for easier multi-touch use. And I'm sold :)

...... and MAYBE HDMI... that'd be sweet

I really hope they don't put a black keyboard on a silver computer like they did with the air, it just brings down the whole "smoothness" factor the MBA relies on to sell itself.

I like the bottom MBP with the black. I think Apple should ditch the Firewire 400 and 800 and put two 3200 ports on it since 3200 is backwards compatible with 800 and should be with 400(with a changer cord). An extra usb port could be nice, but not needed.

She better have a good Gpu in it too.

Anyone think we could see the use of a Display Port in the new Macbook Pro instead of DVI?

If they do implement the new tech, my guess is that the ACD's would be refreshed shortly after.

I really dont understand display port. is it just an input/output method?

Not that we would want that - but it would be consistent. :D

Yeah, right. An Apple product getting the latest GPU. You're funny, man.

I'd bet that, since it's time to switch manufacturers (Apple goes back and forth), they'll go with an ATI GPU for Montevina.

On top of that, we have the nVidia scare right now.

well obviously not the latest, just something in the 9 series, not the 8600. I hope they won't go with ATI, although i'm sure they will. I've always been more into nVidias stuff.
