Look, the next generation iPhone will probably just be called "The New iPhone", kind of like what they did with the iPad. Apple tends to keep trends within their own products. And it makes sense since this is likely a very large overhaul of the device.

If they do that, they will not capitalize the "n" in "new". They didn't for the iPad. The name will be iPhone. The box will say "iPhone".

There are people who'll buy it if it's got electric Banana written on the side of it.

Put an apple logo on it and they will sell very well.

A rose by any other name will still smell as sweet, but a turd's a turd no matter how much you polish it.

Violence is a common response among those who are too dim witted to respond with words.
Which is why we have this wonderful forum where some people can say things they'd never say to someones face.

Back on topic: All these pieces are falling into place to show us a pretty certain picture of what the next iPhone will be. I think we can be pretty certain that this is what we're getting. And as the mods have mentioned, there's too many distributors to expect to keep every aspect of the new phone secret.

I wonder if this is all fake? Seems unlikely.

Lol it's not fake. These leaks happen every year. And the parts that leak are always for the new iPhone coming out.

Apple is not putting these leaks out. The iPhone is going on sale September 21 therefore they have to ramp up production. They work with so many factory employees that something is just bound to leak.

hmmmmm

If these leaks are part of an Apple disinformation campaign, I will laugh my butt off for hours. But I doubt it. If they were going to do that, they'd have released a bunch of things that didn't all line up with each other nicely so as to be terribly confusing, just in case something real DID leak.

Man, that would be some keynote to remember, if they actually rolled out something completely off the mark of the leaked one.

"Like I said, we doubled down on secrecy so we could actually bring you this nifty surprise today..." LOL !

Probably people are right who say that Apple allows the leaks because it gives us time to get used to the real new one (complain about it, praise it, get OVER it if we are disappointed). It's fun to speculate on a gotcha campaign, though. I'd love to see it happen but it's well into the fantasy zone, I have to admit!

Thank you Zunjine! One of the best posts here yet. :)
I'm reading all the topics for several weeks now and I've decided to join the forum to post some thoughts about this new iPhone.

We all heard the quotes:
“Tim Cook said they’re doubling down on security”
“They are controlling this leak”
“Apple would never make a longer iPhone, it’s not innovating”
“Steve never allowed this to happen”

etc.

Well, here’s what I think:
Apple is doubling down on security. But not on the iPhone.
Apple is not controlling this leak but neither they wanted to stop the leaking because of:

Apple TV

September 12th, is not the expected october launch we thought there would be. So this event is (together witch iPods and iPhone) a special Apple TV event. Or it would only involve Apple TV and iPod (because September is iPod month) and they will announce the iPHone a month later in October. But I think they will do it all together.

Possible presentation on September 12th:
15 minutes: iPods update
45 minutes: iPhone update
One more thing: Apple TV

I’m really thinking that Apple is ramping up production of the Apple TV and that we can expect a november/december launch.

Back on topic:
I really like the new design of the new iPhone. At this moment I’m using a iPhone 4 from launch day (1st of may 2010). When you look to the side of the new phone, its seamless and the glass is integrated in the aluminum frame. With the iPhone 4/4S it is laying on top of the frame so it’s not really comfortable in you hands.

Overall the make the design more symmetrical by moving the headphone jack to the bottom and having 4 black stripes on the antenna frame. Now the left, right and top of the phone are really nice to look at and the bottom (who will ever look at the bottom?!) is where all the connections and holes are.

This new leak about the logic board was about to happen. In a few days we know all about processor speed, NFC and possible 4G network. After this, we have to wait until september 12th to see what the killer feature will be (I’m guessing NFC, 4G and bigger screen though) and hoping for a reasonable pricing!

very well said, although I don't think we will see the rumored Apple TV until 2013

I bet it's going to be called The New iPhone. Just like what they did for The New iPad.

I think it's going to be called the iPad mini. It's going to be a 7" mini-tablet phone like the note and all these leaks are bogus.

But that would pretty much make several people on this board cry.

simcard slot seems to be the same size

after all the news regarding micro sim cards the sim card casing in this seems to be the sames size as the current cards used - so apple isnt adopting the smaller card?

I hope that Apple puts a quad core A6 processor in the device (and updates the iPad with that processor too)...however they will probably put an A5x in the iPhone 5.

Yup. The people on this forum seem largely incapable of counting to 6 and realizing this is the 6TH GENERATION iPHONE

I'm not sure if anyone has clarified this already with you (didn't go through all 11 pages) but most everyone on MacRumors knows that this new iPhone will be the 6th Gen, but that doesn't mean the average consumer will know that it is and if its called the 'iPhone 6' they'll be wondering what happened to the iPhone 5. So it makes perfect sense if they choose the iPhone 5 name. I for one am all for Apple calling it just 'new iPhone'.
Not everyone is a hardcore like you.

Remember though, Apple will be entering a new market with the TV, hence they will have no problem announcing it 6 months early, just like they did with the first iPhone and the first iPad.

Once the first model is released, of course, they go to the 2-3 weeks between announcements and launch, so that not to hurt existing model sales.

Actually, if the new iPhone is essentially the same as what has been leaked here, even more people are going to cry.

But then again, there are a lot of crybabies on this forum. And I mean a lot.

:) :p :D

The A5X is too big...I think 9to5Mac's prediction is most likely: A5 variant, new graphics chip, 1 GB ram.
