Leaker: Future iPhone Models to Come in 'Exquisite' Thinner Box

Would be ironic if the cost savings from removing the accessories went to cover the costs of redesigning the packaging.
Yes because god forbid Apple ever pass on cost savings to the consumer. No what will happen is they won’t include headphones or an adapter in the box but Phil Schiller will be on stage crowing about how they were able to add 5G or whatever to the phones without increasing the price. 🙄

I’m one stop short of an apple fanatic

But if apple stops including freaking CHARGERS with them then I will never be buying another iPhone.

I could deal with the nonsensical 3.5mm elimination, but this would be so moronic I can’t deal. I’ll be out and will go android

So when everybody else does it will you never buy a new phone?

If apple do this then on checkout they need to state it so people can add it in the bag if they feel they need one when they buy the new iphone...as not having one. Ands then realising wouldn’t be great for the customer

Why? If they lower the price with $50, you can buy a $30 charger and still save $20.

Not including a charger is laughable and ridiculous, but also not a big deal in my opinion.

That’s fine there are plenty of basic phones still which I’m sure still come with chargers. At this point I’m over the “OMG smartphone” vibe and could get along perfectly well without one.
You would seriously forego using a smartphone entirely because this particular phone doesn't come with a charger that you clearly already have? What sense does that make?

I'm all for avoiding extra junk. I have like three unused Lightning earpods, and nobody wants them because everybody has AirPods and they don'tt work with other devices.

i can help you get rid of them. my wife still uses them despite my attempt to get her airpods)

Agreed....we are removing the power brick...but here is a nice new "exquisite" box!

Oh and one more thing..... to charge your new iPhone......
New AirPower is being released! We know you're gonna love it! Only $199

I have and iPhone 7, so I have power brick.. but 5W. So with new iPhone I have to either buy one 18/20W from apple or one from third party company.

This. is. just. stupic. lol
Use your existing 5W power brick and USB-A-to-Lightning cable. It’ll work just fine. Or plug the included USB-C-to-Lightning cable into any USB-C port on a computer or whatever. That’ll work fine too. If you want faster charging, then buy one of the 20W power bricks, from Apple or from a good third party. It’s not that hard. And if you can afford an $800 dollar phone, you can afford a $20 power brick.

I’m kinda glad to see Apple rethink the idea of shipping probably-unnecessary power bricks and earphones in every box. They ship many tens of millions of phones every year, and a lot of those power bricks and earphones go into a drawer, unused. It’s terribly wasteful. Because people already have equivalent or better. This way, the people who actually need them can buy them, and we won’t have tons of extras sitting around.

BTW, only definition I could find for “stupic” is from UrbanDictionary:
"Stupic: someone who writes inane ramblings on an internet messageboard"

C'mon - this is absolutely the correct thing to do. It saves on carbon emissions for shipping large boxes that are 50% empty space anyway, and saves on e-waste for the chargers and headphones.

The correct way to handle it so to deduct the cost of a charger from the retail price of the phone, so if you want a charger it's sold as an optional add-on at point of purchase.

Be sure - the rest of the industry will follow suit in no time (just like removing headphone jacks).

Carbon emissions - what a load of b.s. Without carbon we would all die. The consumer has no financial incentive to follow this b.s. as the price never drops to make up for any "savings". Sick of this environazi b.s. - it's all a con job to psychologically make you believe its of your own doing.

A thinner box?

Just put the darn thing in a Crown Royal bag and call it a day....
How is a Crown Royal bag going to protect a thousand of them from bumping into each other in a larger shipping container in a cargo airplane on the way here? Totally inadequate.

This sounds like a great way to disavow all knowledge of what happened when someone's battery explodes because they were not using a charger that came with the phone.

“Without carbon we would all die”

That’s why i always sprinkle diamond flakes on my breakfast cereal. Mmmm. Carbon. A healthy part of a balanced breakfast!

And don‘t even get me started on yttrium. I can’t eat just one.

Maybe a great way to disavow blame, but I doubt apple actually has any knowledge about phones that blow up - it’s not like they sneak into your house and light them up or anything.

"In my dream..." Not sure this is grounds for "corroborating" a rumour.
This has been repeatedly explained to be a sentence structure deliberately used, in China, for saying something while making it harder for someone to take legal action against you for your statement. Can’t be held sued, or whatever, for your dreams. Apparently this is quite common on social media in China.

This whole b.s. of carbon emissions effecting the environment in an attempt to take advantage of people financially and psychologically make them feel "responsible" is simply one massive con job.

You guys KNOW Apple is going to justify the heck out of this and potentially release a statement if they don’t include a charger in the box.

Getting new accessories with your new iPhone is nice, but it doesn’t bother me at all if they’re not included.

No it’s not. Climate denial is the con job, as evidenced by trying to support conspiracy theories with fake statistics like “most people save their boxes.”

Radio terminals intended to be connected to a network open to the public for the provision of telephone service cannot be marketed without an accessory making it possible to limit the 'exposure of the head to radio emissions during communications' . In other words, it is impossible to sell the iPhone without its headphones within the European Union.
Speakerphone capability also makes it possible to limit the 'exposure of the head to radio emissions during communications'. And as already pointed out, they are marketed alongside earphones, they just aren’t included in the box. I think your conclusion is unwarranted.

“Marketed” doesn’t mean “sold.”
