Picked up a midnight blue for my 11 pro after Christmas to add to the rotation.

VS. the 2 year old midnight blue on my iPhone 8.

Blue defiantly darkens up a bit.

Hi everyone. I was inspired by someone here to modify my month-old saddle brown 12PM case, and I’m glad I did because it looks much better now. I rubbed it down with some shop wipes (Tub O Towels brand), and applied KG Extreme All Purpose Leather Guard. I did this twice. The final time, I let the conditioner absorb for about 8 hours before wiping the residue off with a paper towel. I’ve attached photos of the results. The feel is much more “leathery” than before. Hope this helps, and thanks to the previous commenter for the inspiration.
awesome job

haven't used the baltic blue 24/7 but like 3/4 of the time, since it came out

I feel like I will cave and get the saddle brown too... eventually.

After seeing all this, the black seems like the way to go. It’s just ugly and no patina.

My old 6s case.
Don’t know how long. Ended up swapping for the triple block.

Have a saddle brown on my X with a black and cosmos waiting.

Yuck. You may want bring this to your local shoemaker and give him/her $20. for a shampoo and a shine (specify NO TOUCHING THE INSIDE!!!) and it’ll look a lot less ratty. Even though the saddle brown wins this contest for best looking patina, DIRTY is never attractive.

My Baltic blue case for 12 pro after a month of use. Black marks appeared on the edges of the case. Does anyone know if this is normal? Can they be cleaned somehow? Or maybe I can change the case in the store?

That is how all the cases will wear this year, no way to reverse it.

Does anyone have the iPhone 12 Pro Pacific Blue with the black leather case from Apple? I'm happy to see a photo of the combo.... :)

Normally, it seems like it would be patina, but this year, I think it is the outer layer coming off.

Nope, that's the coating wearing off. The only fix is to swap it for a black one in store.

I’m not so sure about that. Last years midnight blue case also got black over time (I posted a pic of my last years case and new Baltic blue earlier in this thread). I remember last years case slowly getting blacker as I used it. I think the black is more noticeable in the Baltic blue since it’s a much lighter color than last years case.

Right. I think the concern is how it’s going straight to black on the sharp edges vs the slow transition you’d see on the curved edged phones.

This is how midnight blue looked after about six months on my XS. Notice how there’s no black but it’s well on its way and you can see where it would eventually get there.

I think the issue is that when it happens that quickly, I think it is less the natural aging of the leather. I've had prior Apple leather cases that aged well over time but it took a long time and a lot of use - there was not a very noticeable change after just one month, and definitely not a change from the blue to full on black like in the pics posted.

I could certainly be wrong, but comparing this year's Apple leather cases to prior years, I don't know that the quality is as good, and those pics looks to me more like the other layer/color coming off revealing black underneath rather than it darkening through a natural aging process due to every day usage.

I remember getting black on the sides of my 11 pro case fairly quickly, though maybe not as fast as the 12 pro case. I wish I had taken some pictures at interim time points. I think that the square sides probably are at least partially responsible for getting black quicker on the 12 cases vs the 11. But, this is just guess on my part.
