I'll play along with a different project and we can compare. Mine is about a month old, absolutely no patina but the edges had slight dark spots like some of the terrible one's I've see. So I got a magic eraser which is basically a very very very fine sandpaper and scrubbed it all over. Made a huge mess. Dried it on the heater vent. Then applied Chamberlains Leather Milk. It feels slightly different now. Suprisingly, it doesn't look that much different afterwards, but I think I got the fake dye layer off that you can see in half on half off in the first picture. We will see what happens.

Yes, by the time I got it all off, the magic eraser was shredded all over the table. I don't see anyway that normal use will get that layer off and start to patina.

Just got my Ocean Bullstrap for my 12pro. Like it a lotttttt better than the apple red leather case. The apple leather case looks, and feels a lot more artificial that previous years. Ive owned 3 gens now.

It feels like they’ve added an extra layer of protective coating or something,,, and the leather is a bright, artificial looking red. I have a feeling they don’t want the color to change. Even though we’re patina proud, the average consumer is not probably. I still like the case, but would chose the Bullstrap 9.5/10 times.

Bullstrap feels great after you break it in for a day. Hopefully the durability is good too. Really like the bottom cutout, makes the phone nicer to use, and feels better swiping up for sure. I was constantly removing the apple leather case from my phone cause sometimes I cant stand the way it feels. Apple case gets sticky-ish, and rubbery... best way I can describe it.

Here’s photos of my Bullstrap, and one pic of the red apple case. The blue on the Bullstrap changes color in brighter lights, very classy tone.

Ugh I’ve ordered the red and don’t want the sticky b/s. Can you tell a bit more about the differences you experience in these two cases?

Bullstrap feels smoother, and more naturally treated. Honestly felt dry at first but after u put ur hand oils in it, it feels great. Only took a couple hours to break in.

Apple leather feels nice at first, and feels softer even. But you can definitely feel some sort of weird chemical coating on the case that gets really grimy mo matter how clean your hands are. Doesnt feel natural at all, feels like a thin, but soft leather texture under a layer of chemical treatment lol. Best way I can describe it.

I felt this sometimes last year as well, guess I’ll find out soon enough. If MagSafe were available I’d pick that snap on leather case

Great pics, I was going to get an Apple leather case for my incoming 12 mini, but have ordered the BlackBrook (Burkley) Conner instead... I like the Barlow too, but only black/red in stock now.

The Bullstrap cases look very good too, but shipping to Australia was horrendous - the Conner w/ shipping ends up being 50c more than the Apple Leather case.

Excellent choice. For my money Burkley beats Bullstrap. Bullstrap is nice, well made and has good fit. But the quality and thickness of the Burkley leather is on another level. Also their customer service, in my experience, is miles ahead of Bullstrap. All imo, of course, others here likely feel differently.

Can’t say I recall seeing much from Burkley. Do you have one for your current device?

I’ve been using the mujjo case for the past month or so. First impressions.. buy this case if you want it to stay the same color. If your a person who doesn’t like the “patina” of Apple cases this is the one for you. It literally hasn’t changed at all and I’ve beaten it up. That being said, the leather is quite strong and sturdy. I would say sturdier than bullstrap (all my corners and edges on bull strap rip and tear very easy). The buttons on this case are actually really nice. It just takes a few days for the leather around the buttons to break in. It’s very resilient to scratches as well. Personally I’m a person who really likes the aged leather look so it’s kind of hard for me to use this case, it just looks too new haha
