Agreed with the leather cases, not looking the same as in previous years.
With last years leather there was also a difference to some colours, like the green and red leather the grain was more pronounced, are any of this years colours the same...
Nah, might be getting the red soon but looked “fake” to me when I went to buy at the store. Reducing the quality of the leather but not the price is a ****** move.

I’m using the Cyprus green over my saddle brown apple leather and the Bullstrap ocean. Silicone just feels better than apple’s and I like the color on the green a little better.
I am. This years Apple leather case (I’ve used the saddle brown) isn’t aging like they typically do. Something is just different this year about the leather. I’ve been bouncing from my Apple silicone case to my Nomad Rugged in Rustic Brown.
Well when I had them both I used the silicone more. It’s grippier, will stand some cleaning/sanitizing more easily than leather, and is more protective. Also the precision of the cutouts and fit is spot on.
I’m pretty sure it’s a lot things that caused such a drastic change in the quality of leather for staters it’s the design. Sharp edges will never patina as nice as round ones. Also MagSafe had to play huge role for the material I’m sure. Lastly I recall people complaining on apples website on how the leather cases would wear and darken over time. I’m sure apple listened and realized that too many people it was big issue. Another thing could be cost.
So to save my self the headache and disappointment I’m sticking the the black leather this year I think it looks awesome with Pacific Blue occasionally I’ll pop on the saddle brown not because I’m expecting patina, but because I’ve always been a huge fan of the color.

If MagSafe were truly an issue, then why do the wallet & sleeve have European leather ?
If wear was a concern, then this years cases don’t perform as good as last years anyway, due to them going straight to black.

I wouldn’t be going near the leather cases if the silicone had metal buttons. They did improve them from last year, but still take more force to click.
even last year many times i preferred the silicone smart battery case over the leather cases because they felt sticky, and that is after Clorox & Armor all on the regular.
weird man, why do we even buy the leather cases when silicone sorta works better. Third party cases don’t have MagSafe or if they do then have crappy buttons. Ugh.

My guess is the frame of the case had to be thickened because of MagSafe, so they made the leather thinner in order to keep the cases from being ridiculously bulky. Thus the leather stain is wearing off quicker.
Yeah there's no real excuse for this or any way to describe what's happening to these cases as a patina. it's coating/paint, you can literally rub it all off at once with an alcohol wipe, and it never feels smoother or softer over time, it never loses that waxy feel and if you try to treat it with oil or leather products it doesn't absorb it, it just wipes off and becomes dull again.
Black is only better because it's less visible. Apple skimped and then didn't even lower the price. I'm pretty disappointed because I want to stick with the magsafe cases so the only other option is silicone or the ugly clear one.
Same boat, first party products are supposed to be top notch, not this time around sadly.
i use my phone caseless, but love a case during winter lol
I’m surprised there aren’t more 3rd party magsafe cases from the well known brands.
Apple really ‘phoned’ it in, in this ‘case’. (Sorry...thought of pun, had to do pun 🤪🤣).
Kiwi brown leather shoe polish and Kiwi leather conditioner for darker results use tub o’ towels to remove some of the paint of the case
