1 month in and mine still looks brand new. I have no idea WTF you guys are doing to get them so gross lol.
Problem is in saddle brown its also ugly brand new lol, sorry. it's dull and waxy out of the box, I have one. people are used to distressing it/wearing it to get it a nice looking patina. But it doesn't work because it's some kind of gross coated nubuck, not like in previous years.

even the people who found some magical mixture of leather polish and fairy dust to get it looking ok for now, it will eventually rub to black. And so will yours.

Like what happened to mine, but it does get to that leather feel once you use it which is what I care about

Can’t say I recall seeing much from Burkley. Do you have one for your current device?
I do, I have the Barlow in antique distressed leather. I posted some pictures in the “which case” thread I believe, when it was new and again after a couple of weeks. I’ll post the links if I can find them in a bit. Just fantastic quality leather and finish.

does the apple leather case make an animation when clipped to the iphone?
mine doesn't.

After seeing photos of how great the previous generations of leather Apple cases have worn in, I decided to get my first leather case for my iPhone 12 (coming from an iPhone 7).

Have to say, while I don't hate it, it is definitely not wearing like some of the beautifully darkened older generations I've seen in this thread.

I've used a Weiman leather wipe on it occasionally; it feels decently soft after 1.5mo of use, but I'm not seeing the darkened patina I was hoping for. Not sure if I'm going to cut my losses at this point and go BullStrap, or just ride this one out.

The more and more I see the 12 version of the Apple Saddle Brown Leather patina look or lack there of, the more I don't like it. It just shouldn't be this hard to achieve a decent patina look. I was really looking forward to purchasing a Saddle Brown Leather for my 12 Pro Max, but I will probably pass this year.
This was the last year I had a Saddle Brown Leather case and the patina was naturally achieved from day to day wear.

Disappointing to see even with leather wipes.

Yeah I'm not even sure if patina is the right word to describe what is happening with the Apple leather cases this year. Disappointing compared to previous years.

Extremely dissatisfied with my apple leather case this year too. I got a little impatient and decided to use a magic eraser and it got most of the paint i suppose off. But honestly it looks terrible. I ended up tossing it while waiting for my bullstrap case.

This is after daily use since November 27th. I’ve also been using clorox wipes to disinfect and all but i don’t think that really did anything.

Yes. But only when the phone is locked.
I don't know if I read this correctly (or if it was even a credible source), but I remember being told years ago to turn the phone off whenever I put it in a case, so I still have a tendency to do that. So, I completely forgot about the animation. I'll have to see if mine does that when I get home.

Yes, I’ve also noticed that the animation is different coloured, when i put on the brown case the animation is a brown colour while the blue one is well blue coloured...

I agree. Here’s my old saddle brown on an se2 that’s still in use by a coworker on her se2. This is probably one of the last saddle brown iPhone 8 cases that is actually genuine. Purchased from Walmart about 5-6 months ago.

It’s only been a few days since I scrubbed the outer layer off but it definitely feels like real leather now and is starting to look pretty good I think. I’ll keep updating.

Looks like you rubbed the Apple logo out of it????

I'll play along with a different project and we can compare. Mine is about a month old, absolutely no patina but the edges had slight dark spots like some of the terrible one's I've see. So I got a magic eraser which is basically a very very very fine sandpaper and scrubbed it all over. Made a huge mess. Dried it on the heater vent. Then applied Chamberlains Leather Milk. It feels slightly different now. Suprisingly, it doesn't look that much different afterwards, but I think I got the fake dye layer off that you can see in half on half off in the first picture. We will see what happens.View attachment 1711234
Pardon me but I can't tell for sure... Is that Poppy color or Saddle?
