Got my black today along with the Belkin 3 x Magsafe charger, within a few minutes was leaving a ring on the back, also makes the phone very hot, not really a fan at $220AUD here. Rang to return both and they let me keep the case for free. Will stick to my Samsung charger, was going to go...

It almost looks dirty imoI was thinking I don't see any success with the patina process on mine until I got my brand new wallet. Few pics of saddle brown case for my 12 Pro Max, with wallet for comparison:

So well, yeah, it's definitely getting darker with time (it's been around 3 months), but it's just not aging in an even way. In real life it looks a bit better than on pics, the biggest problem I have is the sides, where it just looks dirty.
I ordered some saddle soap and leather conditioner, so I am planning to just use the soap on the whole case, and then apply conditioner only on the edges. It should sort of protect the edges from getting even darker and then hopefully the rest darkens naturally to match it better. I will inform about progress in couple of weeks.
In general it's not that bad, I think however that combination of different shape and different leather then in older cases makes this one a bit more demanding if you want to have nice patina on it. I would most likely go with different brand if I knew it before I purchased this one.
Another thing is that I wonder how the wallet use will impact the patina process. We'll find out with time

There seems to be very little in it. I think the bottom of the Nomad has more strength around the lightning port whereas I’ve seen the Apple ones have that area as a weakness.
My sides were turning a dark brown which is fine but the back wasn’t changing. So now it’s brown all over. Much better.
Only thing that will slow this from happening is clean hands and leather wipes daily.
I do not think you can remove the blacks from your case now.
You could try leather wipes, should help a bit but do not expect miracles.
Biggest difference are the buttons. Nomad feels fatty and plasticky because of its construction.
The nomad is definitely bulkier, taller and wider, heavier too by 10grams, 25 v 35 nomads.
My apple leather is firm all along, the nomad is firm on the speaker cutouts but the port is a bit flimsy, the nomad only weakness imo is it's bit tough on the pinky not as soft as apples..
I gotta say the longer I have this black leather case on the more I like it. It seems to get more soft as time goes on and being the weirdo that I am, I just took a sniff before starting this post and it’s got a very subtle, yet nice leather smell to it.
I’ll try out the Nomad when it gets here but I’d be surprised if it ended up feeling better than this case.

Can confirm it won't feel better but will smell great at first but will wear off after a month or so. The Apple leather moulds to the phone shape nicely.
I liked my Apple black leather in every way except for the damn fit. Just didn’t seem secure enough for my liking compared to the previous cases. If they fix that issue I’m sold
Like that at the start, then becomes as loose as a goose, how long have you had the case for?
Will probs get a nomad MagSafe when they are sold here anyway.
The apple case is still a awesome case, you’ll notice the case will get a lot easier to take off the phone after a short period of time, also might notice the bottom part of the phone push up a little out of the case, not a big issue.
Think I’ll stick with my Baltic blue and deep navy silicone cases for a while. Always liked the size and fit you get from apple cases.
I've had the Apple black leather case for the Mini since launch and I highly recommend it. It feels really good in the hand. It's slim, the buttons are terrific and its developing a nice patina without me having to do anything to it. Two thumbs up. 👍👍
Out of curiosity, what does black leather patina look like? I posted a while back that my patina was coming along nicely on my black leather Mini case but it was in jest since I wasn't expecting much to change.
Amazing what a month of use has done to the case after removing the coating. It feels fantastic in hand and is looking really nice too.
