Alright, after almost a month with the Bullstrap, I can safely say that I love this case the most. Although initially there was some hiccups with their CS, they've responded to them after some time and rectified it. The leather ages much better than Nomad's because it doesn't pick up gouges or marks as much as the Nomad. The Nomad is just a gouge magnet.
Patina-wise, the BS also looks much better mainly because it is fully covered in leather including the camera borders which no other case does this. It just looks much more smoother with a leather camera cutout. I recently got the upgraded Wallet and it does stick very well, they've included another magnet below the round magsafe magnet which enables the wallet to stick better. Overall, I am very very happy with Bullstrap and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it even though it is much more expensive than others.

Is that the famed “MagSafe Imprint” on the leather case that everyone talks about? Do you use a (standalone) MagSafe Charger?
I use the MagSafe Battery Pack (also as a charger by plugging it into a socket), and on my Wisteria Leather Case there’s still no sign of the imprint so I’m curious if it only comes if you use the standalone charger

Yes, it definitely adds thickness to the phone. The case itself is shaved down full grain leather to a thickness of 3mm. It has an excessively high raised lip that protects the screen which I’m assuming is by design to help the case wrap over the squared frame of the 12/13 series phones. It has quite a few imperfections; not integral though. Just your normal imperfections you’ll see when leather is wet molded by force and hand crafted. The button “cutouts” are very, very stiff. Nomad’s previous cases stiff buttons are a joy compared to the Saddlback buttons. After speaking with Dave Munson at Saddleback; I ordered a small bottle Chamberlain’s leather milk which I haven’t applied yet. This should soften up the buttons quite a bit. Although, after reading reviews, the buttons should soften up after a day or 2 of normal use. So far, the power button is starting to become much easier to press.
As you can see, im horrible at taking photos to really showcase the true color, and fit & finish of the case. Holding in hand made me really appreciate the time and effort that went into the design.
If you’re not sure, I’d say order it. Give it a shot. I think you’ll be surprised at how great this case is.
Ordered Nomad modern leather case in English tan- let see how it patina. I am satisfied with the darker brown for previous phones.
I use a MagSafe plate that holds a pop socket on it, pretty sure that’s mostly what the imprint is from. I also only charge on a MagSafe stand each night
Can you guys please help me sum up the top leather case sellers? Apple, Bullstrap, Andar, Nomad, Mujjo…what more?
Answers here will be very subjective. For me it would be Bullstrap, Andar or Decoded (prior to the iPhone 13) or Apple. I like the fit and feel of the Apple and I’ve got a good patina going so it works for me. Mujjo is the worst leather I’ve ever had by a long ways.
Nice color but looks a lot like their rustic brown on their website. Not sure I want to drop another 60-70 bucks if it’s going to be the same as my rustic.
Looks really good. The 13 mini is oos, which is a good thing(?). I’d probably end up ordering one if they were in stock.
Big fan of the Bullstrap. I reached out to them a couple weeks back about the magnet strength in the 13 Pro model since I found it was falling way too easily off my Belkin car mount. They reached back and are actually sending me a new one to try it out.
I'm hoping I just got a dud or something cause I'd love to use this case full time, I just need the MagSafe to be good in the car. Not doing any crazy driving or anything, this is standard just going to work and back normal.
I know others had similar complaints about the MagSafe strength, but mine is strong (13 pro max). I just received it a week ago, so maybe they fixed the issue in the latest batch.
That’s such a beautiful case. I would like to buy one myself but it’s so dang expensive to get them shipped to Germany with all the taxes and fee added…
Mine is solid too, both on my Belkin 3 in 1 bedside charger and the car vent MagSafe magnet phone holder in my truck. No issues with falling off at all. I love my Bullstrap case! I do wish Andar made the two tone Marshal case in MagSafe though. That case looks fantastic.
Picked up the Apple Midnight Leather case today. It goes fantastic with my Sierra Blue 13 PM. Not expecting it to patina but that’s ok. I really like the color as it is so actually hoping it holds up well over time.
You guys are the worst! The community definitely goes through phases; last one that caught me was Andar but the one I bought ended up getting returned. I really want a Bullstrap now but I’m already happy with both the Midnight Apple leather and the Nomad.
Agreed. I got Andar BullStrap and Apple. Favorite is BullStrap with Andar close behind. Gave the Apple leather case away. Lol
I had a journey case for my 12PM and I wasn’t a fan. It’s German heinen leather which is waterproof. Didn’t have a strong leather smell at all and has an open bottom. The case fit well but I don’t like the open bottom because it digs into my pinky.
