Leather Cases - Patina Proud Photos

Just received the Nomad modern case in burgundy chromexcel leather.

They sent an email after I ordered saying there might be a light waxy film on the leather and that’s what it was like when I opened the box. It smells amazing and the leather is so rich and soft.

It’s got a rich reddish purple colour and it’s very difficult to capture in photos. Actual colour is not as dark.

Absolutely in love with this!

The plateau looks almost flush with case? Or not because of photo angle. Thinking of nomad this time.

Yes there’s a glass protector across the plateau that makes the whole area flush with the case camera ring.

Sorry, I meant I wish they'd offer a version of Olde Dublin in their "traditional leather case" version where the sides are leather and not TPU (like their "modern leather case")

I suppose, though they could also just use plastic like apple or wrap in leather like Blue Bonnet is doing. I have high hopes for my BB case, though I wish they also did a green leather:

Do let us know how the camera control button looks! I do want a leather camera bump instead of metal due to my bad experience with Andar’s camera ring chipping. The picture from the website kinda hint that camera control button in a little indented. I have Nomad Traditional Horween coming in this weekend. Might return it if Blue Bonnet CC is flushed with the case.

I am pretty sure Bluebonnet hasn’t uploaded any photos of their case with the camera control button so that indent is just a normal cutout. When I first looked at their case a couple weeks ago, it said camera control button ‘port’ which I assume is just a cutout so I did not order. They then changed it to dedicated camera control button but haven’t changed or added any photos showing the button.

I can never share photos full size here so this probably looks low quality. Upgraded from my 16 Pro and this is what the Andar case ended up looking like after around 10 months. Satisfied with how it felt the entire time. I like my phones without a case but never felt like taking this off.

Super happy with my Ryan London setup for my air and AirPods Pro 3. The fit is perfect and reminds me of the iPhone X official leather cases. Open bottom is amazing for swiping and finger placement. Also the CC button is spot on and flush

Got my Alex Goldfinch case in today after a long time waiting (Ordered Feb 3).

No leather smell that I can tell, but not really an issue as I hit it with some leather conditioner that smells like leather. The leather feels good though, like you would expect for real leather. Soft and doesn’t feel like plastic like some other cases do.
Fit is nice. Buttons seem fine.
No CC button - don’t care as I don’t really use it.
Open bottom- this is going to take a while to get used to. If it was a closed bottom, would be perfect to me.
Logo- not a fan, but its location on the bottom of the back of the case is OK. Bird watching/photography is a hobby of mine, so I will live with it since it is a feather logo. No logo would be preferred, but it seems like it’s getting harder to find these days.

Not bad overall. The case feels good and looks good. Wish they made a dark blue, closed bottom, no logo version…

Since this is the patina proud photos thread, I thought I would post up a pic of what my Alex Goldfinch case looked like after going to my new 17 pro. I started using this case in Feb and became my daily. Overall, I liked the case and it seems to have stood up pretty well over that time.

I tolerated the open bottom, but am so glad to have switched to a closed bottom case for my 17 pro.

I have scooped up an Andar in Navy and a Lonli Edition in Blue for my blue 17 Pro.

Pros and cons of each IMO:

Andar:
Pros - love the color (but it might end up almost black like Bullstraps Ocean cases). Clicky buttons, tight fit, good cutouts and camera control button. Nice leather.
Cons - I hate the metal rings around the camera housing/plateau. Maybe slightly worse signal because of it too?

Lonli Edition:
Pros - not as dark blue - so it will patina into that nice rich blue that the Andar starts as, I think. Fits well. Clicky buttons too. I LOVE the leather wrapped camera/plateau bump. Nice to have that soft thunk instead of a loud noise when I put it on a table, etc. Leather seems just as premium as Andar. Zero branding.
Cons - the camera control button seems loose. Whenever I touch it, I can physically see it moving more than I'd like. I honestly might just find a way to tape it from behind since I hardly ever use it.

Single pic for now - the Lonli edition does NOT look that bright in real life. The color on the Amazon listing is actually for once more true to life. My lighting sucks right now.

Thank you! I went ahead and ordered one in black (I think the blue may not be dark enough for my tastes). Should get it tomorrow.

I agree that gap above the bump would bother me. The leather looks nice!

I already sent them an email with the photo, asking if it is defective.
The leather back is secure with magsafe/adhesive/suction tabs, but I think the plastic rim at the top is too thin and not rigid enough to stay down.
