let the whining begin....:rolleyes:

And what reason is there to be anything less than underwhelms? When Apple promises a major event, and only succeeds in delivering a few new colors... whining IS appropriate.

Who can possibly:

1) Think of NBC coming back to iTunes a "big deal"

2) Think the touch can come close to being the gaming device the Nintendo DS or Sony PSP is?

I mean cmon Apple isn't that good to turn the touch into a device like that

um actually NBC is a "Big Deal" i read several reports saying one of the key reasons the office is still up is because of itunes i heard once it went on the show was saved pretty much" and i think nbc was a pretty big share in terms of Itunes TV download Share.

Granted, Apple did claim it would be a "big deal," which was uncharacteristic for them.

This may be true. But people who are expecting more out of iPhones need to calm down. It was clearly an iPod event. iTunes plus new Nanos plus updated Touches were enough for a media event. Apple is growing, every little thing the update besides speedbumps is worth a media event.

I had no major expectations at all. In fact, I hardly had minor expectations. Even so, talk about a boring event. It's pretty sad that I actually was most interested in new headphones...

I like that NBC is back in the iTunes store and that we are getting a 2.1 update along with more software/games.

I also think this was a dog and pony show for wall street so everyone can see that S. Jobs still is in charge. Whatever. As an apple fanboi I was underwhelmed by it.

The media is the one who made it out to be a big event. Apple just sent normal invites. The theme was "Let's Rock". They introduced some spiffy updates, gave us some previews, and then had some music playing. What more can you expect? You guys are overreacting.

Did your ever think about Market they don't own? Laptops? Seriously an upgrade or price drop would be nice to offset M$ new ads with Jerry. I have been waiting for a MB for about a year. This is total FAIL and I will still keep faith that sometime soon there will be a new MB. It's time to branch out and update something better than i-Pods

Jack Johnson is a staple in our house. We do, however, have 3 kids under 6 but yet he is an artist that my wife and I still enjoy listening to.

I was holding out hope that Steve was going to announce the Beatles coming to iTunes, but alas.

1) Considering I've watched every episode of the Office and 30 Rock and also look forward to many of NBC's new comedies, I think it's a big deal. NBC just got me for at least three more Season Passes.

2) As funny as it sounds...Super Monkey Ball is just the beginning. With a major developer like EA jumping head first into this, I expect to see a huge increase in innovation and technology that will enhance the gaming experience for the iPod Touch/iPhone.

Yeah considering Apple was calling media personally urging them to show up for some "big deal"........guess the media got played like a violin

The NBC thing *IS* a big deal. NBC pulled out of iTunes because they thought they'd do better on their own terms. Now they're back. I read this as Apple reasserting their market dominance.

I wonder if Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles is available in HD today, if so I am going to buy the season pass.

I also wonder how long it will be until they post iTunes 8.

Just joining in here...did I read correctly that headphones no longer come standard with the new Nano?

2.1 firmware. What a let down. Nothing but bug fixes.

Not even one item from my wish list.

Flash
MMS
Turn-by-turn navigation
Copy/Paste
Background apps
SMS folders
Ability to save documents to from email
etc etc etc

Absolutely blows.

I couldn't agree more. What a letdown.

You bet your ass I'm whining. The iPhone IS an iPod. Why shouldn't we get the features that are now default in the iPod touch and nano?

Not to mention that apple hyped this event as being special. Guess from now on we all know what that means. Iphone 2.1 is nothing bug bug-fixes, things that should have been set right in 2.0.xx. What a joke.

I still don't understand where you have room to complain about iPhone problems at an iPod event. Sure, those things suck, but the iPhones are getting all the new things the Touch gets save the case redesign thing. And they get it for free.

The bugs are something that can be fixed in updates. Not worth noting in an event... especially an iPod one.

"No app crashes" - woopee! Can't wait to see how they manage that.

I was going to spend some time debugging my game, but now I don't think I'll bother... :p
