looks like new boxing for the touch. going to go with the see through plastic box like the nanos and the shuffles

The touch aint too far off the nano these days, whether they'll kill off the nano next year, who knows. Helps out recycling wise too i'd imagine.

so were there updates to the classic??

did i just post this? man my memory is short. there were. sorry. boo me.

They are ditching the 160gb I think and going with one classic (120gb) at the price of the current 80gb

Someone correct me if I just got all that wrong

Lets get a round of applause for serpico, serpico everybody!

As much as I love Apple products, I'm not being a negative person for the hell of it. I don't want to be a fanboy, but just have an appreciation for Apple products... when they are good. But this event was pretty sad and I haven't felt this way about an event in a very long time.

Get into Boot Camp, Parallels or VMware, and start downloading that Zune software and buy a Zune. This season is time to open our minds and try something new. Nothing from Apple to buy this season anyways. :D

Other than upgrading the 80 gb to 120 gb and discontinuing the 160, no. The UI is still the same, so now the UI on the nano and the classic are different - presumably due to the accelerometer.

so i'm still thinking why this was an actual press event? i mean.. there was nothing much to show for it.. nothing revolutionary or anything... so why bother?

probably would of gotten more press if they just did a silent release

You advertise 'Let's Rock' and then end with that waste of gravity singing...acoustic folk music? Um. No.

Apple...you're screwing up here, folks. You need to stop creating hype and then delivering benign.

+1

I think the Touchj prices are STILL out of line with iPhones.

any word on when itunes 8 will be available?

I'd imagine as soon as they update the main page, they'll get teh itunes page updated. Nothing as yet, but keep refreshing the page and it'll come. ANyway, you'll here from folks here saying they've started downloading.

Sucks to live in Canada. All we get in terms of TV shows up here is South Park and The Daily Show. While they're not horrible shows, we get none of the big network shows. Damn:( I was excited when he announced HD TV shows, but remembered we won't be getting any of them. Other than that, I'll be picking up a new Nano for the gym. Glad I have my 160GB Classic already. And can't wait for iPhone 2.1, how sad is that! Other than that, lame event.

Just open an American iTunes account. Do a search ... I'm sure you can figure it out.

Cheers.

This was the biggest non-event this year....

agreed nothing to see here. Here's to having bug fixes and faster backups on my iPhone this Friday.

I'm Starting To Really Hate Apple

"Big Deal"??? What was the "Big Deal" they were talking about?

Jack "F**king" Johnson??

They actually DOWNGRADED THE iPod Classic from 160GB to 120GB!!!!!!

The iPod Nano is kinda' cool, but the controller should also be accelerometerable.

iTunes 8 Genius is pretty lame. What if I want a playlist that incorporates different Genres. Like Beethoven, Guns N' Roses and Kanye West? Maybe iTunes 9 they will add a new feature called Idiot.

iPod Touch is still 32 GB. And woohoo!! A speaker!!! Should have been there years ago.

iPhone 2.1 not till Friday and never discussed it's features.

I'm never expecting anything shocking anymore from Apple. They are really, really disappointing lately. Maybe it IS time for Jobs to be replaced.

Event Over, Nothing to see here!

Move on. Nothing to see here.

For a Steve Jobs special event this was really lame. Basically minor updates, and bug fixes.

Let's hope laptops get updated soon to take the sting out of this wasted event.

hmmm

September rolls around push for everyone, I think that was a quote from the original conference in the summer. No push now...wow this is very disappointing since one of the features I decided to live without for a few months was this (I traded in my TILT), kind of regretting this...

What a waste. I was hoping for something to do with GPS or internet access on the ipod touch. That would have been something to 'rock' about. Instead we got some pathetic slow dance by the Righteous Brothers.

Sigh, that was a waste of an hour of my life.

I really wish we would have heard some news about the MB or MBP.

I was waiting for Jobs to say, well "what better way to manage your iTunes 8 than on a new MBP".
