So basically, Apple cried wolf. The next time they promise a big, can't-miss event to a reporter, he/she will just say "meh, I'll check with Kevin Rose first; he seems to know better than you do whether it's worth going or not."

i'm just pissed that the iPod Nano 16 GB is almost less expensive in the states then the 8 GB one in europe

Now, I don't like Jack Johnson, but if you've been to a music festival this year, it's probably been headlined by Jack Johnson...Coachella, All Points West, Bonnaroo, SXSW & Outside Lands, so unless you're only tuned in to MTV, then quite pretending like you don't know who he is...

BORING, BORING AND BLOODY BORING. There's only so much you can do and upgrade with an iPod, which is already an excellent product. This is the event Apple people were telling the press not to miss. I'm glad I did. I guess the iPod and iPhone are the future of Apple. God knows where that will leave their computers.

How does minor upgrades and a few new colors equate to an EVENT?

I think people are universally dissapointed.

Other than upgrading the 80 gb to 120 gb and discontinuing the 160, no. The UI is still the same, so now the UI on the nano and the classic are different - presumably due to the accelerometer.

seems like an odd change...they basically just limited the product.

Didn't really care about anything other than the 2.1 update for iPhone. My disappointment comes from expecting added features from 2.1 designation.

This is more like 2.0.3.

Oh well.

Who can possibly:

1) Think of NBC coming back to iTunes a "big deal"

2) Think the touch can come close to being the gaming device the Nintendo DS or Sony PSP is?

Don't forget about HD tv shows, that's pretty cool.

Wonder how many "shots in the mouth" NBC had to take before Apple said "OK, that's enough, get up off your knees, go get yourself cleaned up and we'll continue our meeting about letting you back into the iTunes store."?

*zzzziiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiip* <-Apple's fly as NBC walks to the bathroom with their head hung down in shame.

"Can you believe NBC took that for an hour and a half???? Wow they must have finally realized how stupid they were for leaving us!"

Steve is as narrow as a Nano.

For sure a boring event. I'm not crazy about the new Nano colors. Too bright. Too K-mart. Maybe they will be nicer in person. Can't wait for Friday and get 2.1 on my phone. Please let this actually make a difference.

Wow... a new thin nano and touch.... and some "bug" fixes for the iphone.... wonderful.....

would have been nice to see the nike stuff built into the iphone....

apple won't be getting any more of my coin this go around.

all in all a let down...

I'm assuming iPhone 2.1 will have Nike+ & Genius - or am I wrong?

i was wondering the same thing. but then didn't he say the touch will have nike+ built in, so is it a mechanical part that is needed, or is it just software that requires the adapter for the shoe?

either way, i can't see myself jogging with a huge iphone or touch banging against my arm for miles. too clunky and too much up and down jostling for it to be practical, i'd think. isn't that what the nanos are for?!

I think Steve is looking thinner and thinner... I hope he's not sick... But then he'd never admit it... after all he's the one going to alternative treatments for 8 months before actually seeing a real doctor about his cancer...

Because nothing special came out of Apple today, the media will be writing about this thinness. Here we go again.

Ugh. Where are the new macbooks?! The nanos are cute, but the only one's worth buying (16gb) are still too expensive.

Whatever. Apple claerly still doesn't want my money! Fine! They won't get it!

So basically, Apple cried wolf. The next time they promise a big, can't-miss event to a reporter, he/she will just say "meh, I'll check with Kevin Rose first; he seems to know better than you do whether it's worth going or not."

My thoughts exactly. Then again, we have to remember that most of the hype came from sites like macrumors etc. - we were hyping ourselves up and now we're disappointed because the features we hoped for (notably 2.1 features, any features?!) are lacking.

Where were the big announcements??!

I love apple and really wanted to be excited for today but nothing really impressed me. I really hope there is something in the 2.1 software. I foresee a huge drop in apples stock after today. The only thing i can think is that they didn't want to try and do too much again?

As much as I love Apple products, I'm not being a negative person for the hell of it. I don't want to be a fanboy, but just have an appreciation for Apple products... when they are good. But this event was pretty sad and I haven't felt this way about an event in a very long time.

Get into Boot Camp, Parallels or VMware, and start downloading that Zune software and buy a Zune. This season is time to open our minds and try something new. Nothing from Apple to buy this season anyways. :D

Well, I do need something to prop up my coffee table's short leg.

Totally, problem is that Apple went to the added effort of whipping up the fanboys, that's the head scratching part.

They did? How? By emailing an invite to the press so they knew to come?

Are you sure you didn't do that whipping up yourself?
