Yup. Apple looks desperate now. The updates were fine, but certain none were "game-changing," or "mind-blowing." Apple should lay off the hype and let the products speak for themselves.

I think we'll be impressed when we get our hands on them- the thinner Touch will give 3G iPhone holders a twinge of envy, as will the incorporation of the Nike+ dongle. As the pictures show, the nano and touch are evolving at a decent pace.

boring event, as expected, but i'm looking forward to 2.1.....on friday.

purple nano's are cool, don't know if that warrants an event though

2.1 will be as boring as the event... just bug fixes. Nice to get things working better... but NO NEW TOYS! ANd no surpises...

Thinner iPod Nano, thinner Steve Jobs? He is one marketing genius, let me tell you!

What's next, Tobias's diamond cream when those aluminum MacBooks are revealed at the next Apple event? Brilliant!

I got my 8GB Black Nano from Amazon ONE YEAR ago for £118

I got my 8GB in December for £109 ... shame it was stolen, because I would have otherwise have been sitting here thinking "heh, nice deal /still/".

On the other hand, deep purple iPod...

Lol. Trust me, I agree. I've been waiting for MB updates since May. But this was a specific iPod event. We'll have to wait awhile for our COMPUTER event. I think they can handle them all seperately and that its not right to get disappointed over an iPod event when we all know computers never would have been mentioned regardless... If you get disappointed about the iPods that's different. But it's whining when people get disappointed over iPhones and Macs when we all KNEW they wouldn't be featured...

I know...To an extent you have a valid point. I'm just getting sick and tired of waiting to give Apple 1500 dollars. I have held out this long for a MB...so a few more months wont be so bad...I guess. My brother just got a new laptop which makes it worse. I feel like a 30 something child waiting for a new toy

I completely disagree... what Apple has to deliver is a iPhone firmware that solves the problems. It's certainly better for the customers if it takes a couple of days longer but works than the other way around (today and it doesn't work properly).

I disagree -- 3 days isn't enough time for them to do anything more than they've already done. If they haven't figured out and fixed the problems by now, they're not going to have it done by Friday. It takes time to identify, develop and qa the changes -- I'm not expecting them to update it just to placate people -- they've had the time. Apple set pretty high expectations with the 3G -- so far it has failed in every way possible (aside from feeling nicer in the hand) and lets not forget the the promised application push support that was supposed to be delivered this month, either.

"No app crashes" - woopee! Can't wait to see how they manage that.

Sick thing is, everyone is going to say "yeah right" to that, but then when the update comes and apps crash (like they ALWAYS will) people will be like "WTF!!!! my apps are crashing!!!!" knowing full well that it isn't possible from day one. Silly consumers.....

Why is everyone so disappointed? All of the rumors were fulfilled, no more, no less. "Yeah but I wanted to be surprised with something new!!!!" THEN STOP READING MACRUMORS!!!! It is to the point now where the rumors are so accurate that the chances of surprise are very unlikely.

So what was the "Big Deal... you must come"?

Was it:

a) shake the bejeezus out your iPod to shuffle your songs;
b) new paint jobs
c) overpriced headphones that don't work to their full potential with the 160 million iPods they've already sold?

Answers on a postcard to Apple, PO Box 'HYPE', Cupertino.

Also, someone's gonna get fired for all the leaks. I think we had all of the news apart from the headphones here, didn't we? Perhaps Kevin Rose will be assassinated by the Apple Ninjas by the weekend ;)

I want my...
I want my...
I want my MBP.

I think you mean your Dire Straits voice...

EDIT: Er, I guess Sting did the cameo falsetto on that track. You learn something new everyday. :)

It is annoying cause my right earbud just stopped working today. I was really excited to get the V-Moda replacement, then saw the new earbud from Apple and was really excited. Then not only does it not come out till next month, but it also doesn't look like (according to Apple) it would even work with the iPhone (or iPod Touch 1st Gen).

Yeah i want them for my iphone to! i really hope that they will work with the iphone and apple has just forgot to mention that

Wow. Even if I accepted that the event was going to be iPod only I was just massively disappointed. I have no idea how that was remotely anything near a "big event".

iPhone Wish list for 2.2

* Copy/Paste

* Profiles

* Bluetooth keyboard support (man if I could use a small (fold-up)keyboard to type out emails, text messages, etc... that would just be awesome for me.)

Okay so I don't think any of us who hoped for MB or MBP actually thought that they would be at this

And since there not and the hype for releasing something new takes forever. pretentious much.

I'm just going to buy one already and stop pouting. Is the January even the next big usual even?

Pathetic

This was the most pathetic showing of "new" products ever!! So what happened to "something special..." and "you definitely don't want to miss this..."? Seriously? No new computers? Just the same old crap with a slightly different appearance? :(

Lemme guess, the next BIG APPLE NEWS will be when they release a multi-colored ipod nano? HUGE DISSAPOINTMENT. Apple is losing it's appeal.:confused:

Did your ever think about Market they don't own? Laptops? Seriously an upgrade or price drop would be nice to offset M$ new ads with Jerry. I have been waiting for a MB for about a year. This is total FAIL and I will still keep faith that sometime soon there will be a new MB. It's time to branch out and update something better than i-Pods

You do realize that apple announced this was a MUSIC event and nobody had ANY expectation that they would have any computer announcements at all, right?
