Seriously, WTF, why are the new headphones not iphone-friendly?!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

because the headphone jack on the iphone doesn't have whatever additional sensor to read the push button controls. still plays audio though. wait. now that I think of it the original iphone headphones have the play/pause/answer button on them. YEAH! why don't the new headphones work with iphone!!!:mad::mad::mad: (as well)

I am SO tired of hearing people whine and whine about not getting their new MB and MBP's. This was a strictly music, and therefore iPod event, what were you all expecting??!!

do you really want those fugly things???

if they sounded good, I would. :)

I'd love to have earbud with an in-line Mic and ability to answer calls, forward through songs, etc. I bought the Shure music adapter but it makes my current earbuds WAY too long. :p not to mention being 2 separate pieces.

Very disappointed in the lack of updates for the Classic... all these new navigation features would be more useful to people with 120GB of music than to people with 32GB!

I'm starting to think that Apple was betting on flash prices dropping faster, thinking there would be reasonably priced flash drives big enough to kill the Classic by now.

You do realize that apple announced this was a MUSIC event and nobody had ANY expectation that they would have any computer announcements at all, right?

So, where was the cool music stuff????? Minor upgrades does not an event make.

"The product announcements were largely expected, and investors were less than energized by the news, sending Apple's shares down $4.96, or 3.1 percent, to $152.96 in afternoon trading."

Word.

I just want to know if the iPhone's software update is going to be the same as the update for the iPod Touch, except with the phone bug fixes added in. Will the iPhone 3G get Genius? It seems like it's sort of standard for all of Apple now (maybe even old models of the iPod will get it). And how about Nike +?

The NBC thing *IS* a big deal. NBC pulled out of iTunes because they thought they'd do better on their own terms. Now they're back. I read this as Apple reasserting their market dominance.

And props to all of us who predicted that NBC would hurt more than iTunes and would come crawling back. NBC can suck it.

actually, i'm kinda glad there wasn't any major new product. apple's quality of late has been a bit in the sh@tter, what with cracking iphones, software crashes, dropping calls - just on the iphone itself. they need to take some time to fix what they currently are making. new products out in time for christmas, but at least they just ipods - what htey are already good at making. adding new MBPs, a tablet, etc into the mix would just beget more shoddy hardware/software problems and more negative PR for products that don't work. they'll prob update the MB and MBP after xmas so they can move all their current line.

and the tablet is still a myth

Exactly what it was. All could have been done on a press release, but the razzmatazz will get TV/magazine publicity.

Now who cares about Genius in iTunes. All I want iTunes to now is one simple thing: hierarchical sorting so as an example, my Beatles collection has Abbey Road after Please, Please, Me. Now that isn't too hard is it?

Oh, it is...

Dude, itunes already does this. Keep clicking the album heading until it says "Album by Year"
edit: that is, if you have your year fields all tagged accordingly

Genius, yes....

Nike+, no- that takes a hardware receiver in the phone.

Bummer.. still no turn by turn GPS.

Guess I'm sticking with my first gen iPhone and not "upgrading" to 3G. :)

"This is a big update, it fixes lots of bugs. Fewer dropped calls, big battery life improvements. No crashes with Apps. Backing up is faster."

I swear to God if I am still dropping calls after Friday there is going to be Hell to pay.

* Copy/Paste

* Profiles

* Bluetooth keyboard support (man if I could use a small (fold-up)keyboard to type out emails, text messages, etc... that would just be awesome for me.)

or just bluetooth that works as the rest of bluetooth devices do - syncing contacts wirelessly, working with bluetooth enabled car stereos, etc
