I'm in a pickle no matter what. My brother and I are swtiching to AT&T and I'm waiting for white, he wants black. He gets a small discount, so our family plan will have to be under his name. He hasn't ordered his black iPhone yet, so it looks like I might be able to have my white one before he gets his. The only problem is, I won't be able to use the phone until he get's his phone and we set up the family plan under his name. I should have thought of this earlier and had him buy his phone a week ago so we'd get our phones around the same time.
does anyone know why exactly it takes longer to produce a model with a different color? i am waiting for the white to be released but this is getting ridiculous. it doesn't sound like a problem that should cause a month delay? its just a color? ......but what do i know im just the 800 pound gorilla
Yes, I said that two pages back. tonight is the last night im waking up 5am to check Apple and AT&T sites.
Pretty sure you called a "release" on the 23rd/24th. Pre orders would make sense though.
There ya go! Call my bluff, I'm not Steve Jobs, so I do not know the exact date, I'm just speculating based on prior Apple releases and using my knowledge to think of the most logic ideas for Apple. Though Apple is a very outlandish company, they never do anything simple.
I asked nicely and no one posted their 'script'. Oh well, I'll still be one of the first on this thread to order and have my iPhone 4 White. Take that, pow!
I would also like to request the person(s) who wrote a script to check the Apple store for white to share. Or could someone speculate on how it was done or could be done? Learning a new scripting language and writing a script would help kill the time waiting.
Sorry, I didn't mean for it to be rude. I was just confused. When initially responded to your post I thought you were inferring a release on the 23rd. I guess in the end we were both thinking the same thing.
P.S. The script people are using to check the store would be nice to have. Show some love for a fellow MacRumors lurker.
ya'll need to relax everybody. I feel this thread has been hijacked by namecalling and everyone getting all worried about availability. We waited this far. We know that the latest the white ones can come out is end of July which is in a week. So we have a time frame at least.
I remember when there was a thread about waiting for the macbook pro arrandale update. That my friends was one of the worst waits. we got to seven unofficial threads before it was released.
So change of topic, anyone hear about the zagg invisible shield fixing the antenna issue? I saw it on gizmodo a while back but no really good third party reviews.

I think tensions are building because everyone knows its going to be VERY difficult to get one. You'll need to be johnny-on-the-spot to get one of these and we all know it.

Thank you for the beginning steps. I do not know a single thing about RSS or how to use an RSS reader so if you could elaborate a bit that would be much appreciated by me and probably a few others.
On a side note.
I just hope that they don't do an only retail release without any heads up. I don't mind waking up early to go wait in line as long as I know when, I believe someone said that earlier in the thread.
One more thing.
I have seen many times fly through this thread as to when to wake up and refresh the apple store. 5am, 4am, 2am ect.
According to the black iPhone pre order time what time should I be checking.
4am or 3am. Central.

Did Jobs say the free bumper offer was happening on Thursday? Or did he just say it was going to happen this week?
It's possible they'll do all of that at once, and it makes sense that they would like both phones to be released before they start the bumper deal. Anyone know of a RSS reader that will let me play an mp3 file (I don't think I'd wake up from a simple beep)? That way I can go to sleep, leaving the volume all the way up and be assured that I'll get woken up.
yes, i did have to sell it because I wanted to use the money from the sold iphone to pay for the new iphone. Some people budget their money. I also had to sell it right at that time because I was not going to take my chances of loosing that buyer because I made him wait for something that we have no idea when it will come out.
Why do you feel so entitled that you think that people actually have to run their buying habits around what YOU want, and why do you think that people have to be GRACIOUS to you?? As long as I am within my right to return something, I am not breaking the law OR a contract in any way.. then you are literally DEMANDING that the world do you a favor by refraining from purchasing an iphone 4 because you want yours when you want it.. Clearly you have never worked retail before because people use stuff ALL THE TIME for 30 days and if they return it in normal, functional, unharmed condition (for any reason) they are allowed their money back. If they return it with wear, they either pay a restocking fee or don't get their money back> There is NOTHING wrong with that what so ever. LIke i said, people purchase things all the time and return them because something better came out while they were within their 30 day grace period.
Do me a favor, next time you are at wal mart or best buy, go to the line and ask some people why they are returning something.. Chances are a good majority of them said something better came along and they don't need it..
Buy a case. Apparently Steve is handing them out for free. Maybe you could score a white one?

You people are freaking nuts around here.. Typically I am against the people who seriously take advantage of apple's swap policy by claiming every damn thing is cause for a new phone and lying saying they are having one issue because they scratched their phone and want a new one.. But to be annoyed at someone who buys a product and LEGALLY returns it because something better came along while they were within their policy to return for the sole reason that "doing that makes it so us truly patient people can actually get our phones that we waited so patiently for" is just stupid.. and childish.. might i add

There will never be a wait as bad as the wait for arrandale was. jesus christ. you all should thank your lucky stars that you actually have a TIME FRAME.
