Likelihood we will get to pre-order the WHITE iPhone 4 TOMORROW?

Lol - I'm in the UK - so IF we are lead to believe it will be a 4.00AM EST release (if at all), at some point this week, then its slightly more convenient for us as that equates to 9.00AM, easier to check.

Really wish I were clever enough to write one of these scripts so that it would just notify me that there has been a change to the website, and therefore the probable addition of the white being available.

But hey, where is the fun in that anyway!

Back on topic, it seems like Apple doesn't want to give a definitive date for release. The end of July is a week and half away. I can't imagine Apple NOT knowing when they're going to release the White iPhones.

I'm guessing the 30th.

I think they are gonna have it available on the 30th, that way they can get all of the iPhone launches finished on one day. I'm pretty sure Apple won't release the black one to other countries and then the white one a day after..
 
I just phoned my local apple store and they said they know no more than we do, just the end of july, no specific date.

Anyone think there will be queues, sort of like a mini launch, and will we need to reserve one?

Or will they even have them in stores on the 30th.

I really do not want to wait any longer for this phone, its driving me nuts !
 
Hopefully here sooner rather than later returning my black this week and gonna rebuy the white when it's released.

As I bought mines from O2 (Im in the UK) they have a 14 day return policy, and a 28 day exchange policy. I opted to return it on the 14th day, as I had a hunch the white on would not be out before the 28 days was up (leaving me stuck with black).

I was right, and I'm relieved Im guaranteed a white one now, but waiting is a pain in the ass!

I wish we would get an official date at least, or an order on the site, seeing as it is "ships end of july", not "available end of july"

Just phoned up the Bullring store, no one has any idea when or if they're getting any in..

with a "limited supply" i am going to bet that we wont be seeing any of them even make it to the stores. they are going to be all sold out online the day they are available online.
 
For what its worth, my buddy who is a manager at an AT&T Corporate Store said that an order was created for iPhone 4 White 16GB. Something tells me we're going to see it before the 30th.

Reasons:

-I cannot see a coinciding launch of both international release and white iPhone 4. It would cause too much disturbance in the activation process and on Apple servers.

-It would make more sense to release the white iPhone 4 on Friday (the 23rd), a week before international release. And in this case scenario, white would have been already released and would be able to be offered on the 30th along with black for international release.

Though, I do not know what constitutes the 'end of July'. The 23rd of July sounds like the lower end of the 'end of July' in my book. If there is 31 days in a month, then the beginning would be the '1st-10th',' 11th-20th' would be the middle and the end would be '21st-30th or 31st', in my personal opinion.

We have already established that by limited, it's more like 100,000 iPhones in the white color. With 100,000 units, you could distribute them across many retail channels and online. I believe that we will see white iPhone 4s in Apple and AT&T Stores very shortly. However, they might not be available at Best Buy, Radio Shack, and Wal-Mart during it's initial launch.

23rd is unlikely because Apple wants to release the white iPhone outside of as many 30 day return windows as possible. As I stated in a previous post that will most likely mean after the 26th, as Apple sold over half of their iPhones (1.7 mil of 3 mil) in the first 3 days.
 
Well I just booked my vacation for August 1st, so hopefully that won't end up being a mistake. Way I see it, the phone is guaranteed to be out by the end of July, so if I go in August I should be in the clear.

And, if by some fluke, the phone still isn't out on August 1st, then we're probably in for more waiting. And I'd rather enjoy myself. :D

I still think it will be. If it is, it will be sooner rather than later.

Fingers crossed for pre-order tomorrow - ships by July 30th/31st!

To be honest, I do not think Apple is that worried about people returning it for the white. As Steve Jobs has stated, the raw data has shown that basically a microscopic amount of people are unhappy and have already returned their phones. People who have wanted the white iPhone 4, for the most part, either waited or have since purchased the black iPhone 4 and are happy with their purchases. Don't let a forum influence your perception of customer's preference, as we already know that Steve Jobs does not and it is way less than 1% of the iPhone owners. We both know that Apple loves to launch products on Thursday-Saturdays. With that being said, I believe we might be seeing this phone online and in store sooner than we know it, my prediction being the 23rd or 24th.

And also a long those lines, I think it has already been implied the hardware bears no difference between the black and white units. Hence, all iPhone 4s purchased through the end of September are accompanied with a free bumper or an equivalent case that Apple will offer either tomorrow or Friday (my guess being 4am tonight).

Well, to me it's tomorrow or bust. If they don't do a pre-order tomorrow, we may have to camp the websites/stores on the 30th.

I don't see Apple releasing the white iPhone AND doing an international launch on the same day though. It'd be a clusterf***.

Agreed. I've been saying for a month now that very few people will swap colors. Even here on MR, which has tens of thousands of members, I've only seen maybe 2 or 3 dozen people who've said they are returning their black phones for white ones. Not that many.
 
Does anyone have any tips as regards to purchasing online for the launch of a product?

I suppose patience/persistence would be a must. The traffic on the site will presumably be manic for a while.

Although if it is released as a pre-order, without Apple announcing when that might be, I suppose the lucky few of us who stumble accross it might have the opportunity to do it with no problems (hopefully!).
