Preliminary tests of Montevina prototypes on pc websites are a bit underwhelming. Hopefully better than the initial Penryn update. But I think folks are going to be diappointed with this latest update.

The 4th is a Monday.
Given the pattern for the last two years of a significant Mac upgrade in H1 August and a significant iPod upgrade in H1 September, we could be seeing MacBook and MacBook Pro redesigns in August 5 or August 12.
That's when iPods are usually updated, and I don't think Apple will do a redesign of the laptops in the same month as an iPod update.
The Core 2 Duo iMacs were released on a Wednesday.
I think it'll be either the new mac mini's or tablet multitouch mac's that'll be in the $1400 range.
I'd bet on "the all new mac mini" same price but just gotten alot more powerful with feature packed or something like that.
Like most of you, I'll be looking to upgrade as soon as the new MacBook Pro's are released. My MacBook Air can hold me over for some time, but I'm looking forward to purchasing a new machine once I start my graduate program.
Hmm man... Can't wait for the "mystery product" to come out.

Well I'm officially waiting for Monteniva! I was suppose to buy this week (july 26th) but I'll wait for august 22nd(when I'm leaving for uni). I don't really need one right now I still have my piece of s**t windows tower and it will last until then! However, if the new MBP come out before that date, well I will buy
I'm notsure why I'm even waiting right now. It's not like Montevina is going to be any faster. The only hope is a faster GPU, and it's likely to be a 9600, which isn't any faster either!
Ya GPU is a big deal to me too especially since I really want a ATI one now that nVidia's are having problems. Also I've waited since FEB so I might as well continue waiting and get the most up to date thing. Hurry up Apple. I want to get it before college!
I think either the 29th, 5th, or 12th. Hopefully! The college-ipod deal lasts till Sept 15th so the new ipods will probably come out end of September implying new MBPs and MBs by early august and maybe their new tablet late august or early september.
