Ugh! I just want my MBP!

I am not so worried about waiting for the slightly faster processor, it would only probably make a slight difference for my needs, but I am worried that the new ones will be released at a lower price like the rumors suggest.

Although I am so sick of waiting, and I cannot wait until September because I need it for when I start school.

I completely understand wanting your new toy before/just as school starts, but the school year really doesn't get moving for a couple of weeks anyway....so what's the big deal?

I suppose you might be enrolled in a program requiring heavy computer use?

The new MBPs are at least 6-8 weeks away. Buy NOW if you NEED it. Buy it later if you already have a laptop. Mac rumors posted a bulletin about the nvidia thing on their home page as well as the article about apple telling its 3rd party vendors ie Best Buy to purchase at least 3-4 weeks worth of laptops. The new ones are coming soon, but NOT before people go back to school and not before September. The Nvidia chips are now coated with a much more robust thermal jacket.

I cant find the article on the graphics chips. bu i already told you everything in it.

Yeah, your probably right. I feel disappointed Apple didn't release them in time for school to start.

Do you have a link to the new Nvidia thermal jacket? The GPU has always been my biggest concern.

Well I am a switcher, so it is going to take a little time to get used to the new OS.

I am also selling my old PC notebook to a friend, and he is anxious, and has already given me the money.

I might just buy the old model, cause I really want the free iPod, and I don't want to deal with problems that a new revision might have.

And also an extra $200 savings would make a huge difference if that is really going to happen.

I am just frustrated, because I have waited this long based on rumors of late July/early august, and they just keep getting pushed back.

Looking through all the recent rumors about 6-8 weeks timeframe for the new MacBooks and getting ready for buying one for the college I noticed an utterly interesting thing.

The Back to School promo finishes this year on September 15. The next day, September 16 is Tuesday, a classic day for the Apple releases. Furthermore, it is exactly seven weeks from now. All puzzle pieces click right in. Apple is - as usual - clearing its stock with Back to School promo and new MacBooks will come along - possibly - new iPods on September 16.

So, sit tight guys :)

(and it really sucks, since I start school on Aug 22; gotta survive in the labs until mid September...)

That would be really cruel. Even for Apple. But Apple has been changing a lot...

That really makes sense. :) So I guess it's time to put aside all our illusions and hopes and resign ourselves to the cruel reality. And the cruel reality is that we're going to wait for about 1.5 month. :p
I am totaly exausted and broken. ::(

I gotta admit this does seem odd... there are a hell of a lot of students in the know waiting for new MBPs for college... this is Apple's bread and butter market.

No there really isn't though....If every single person who has ever answered in these threads stops buying macs forever...apple will still be fine

:(

I am about to cry too. I am not going to college yet(Going to be Sophomore in high school), but I have been saving for my MBP for such a long time. For some reason, I have the craziest feeling that getting a Mac will keep me more organized:p

the 15" better have a 1080 output!! i friggin hope it does, then i could connect it to my soon to have tv :D

whats the odds of the 15" having HDMI output?

I want the free iPod too... :\ Lol and it only took me 5-10 minutes to get used to Mac OS X Tiger when I first got it on my MacBook... It was awesome :)

It will... :)

I'm kind of pissed at Apple. I wanted the best computer for my money before school starts. Instead I'll be getting old hardware. I'll probably sell my computer when the new one comes around. SO AGRAVATING!!!!

How is it a waste for high school? I love making videos and I am pretty good in Photoshop. I want the ease of having a Mac system while having the power of a pretty good gaming machine:)

What's to be pissed off about. Note you said WANT, not NEED.

Anyways it won't be a old hardware if the new one isn't out yet! ;)

Do you really think graphic design, computer science etc. etc. students are going to buy year old tech for £2.5k?

Of course they are waiting, think. If they can't get a MBP in time they'll just get a Sony.

Apple's ethics and integrity have been falling ever since their products started witnessing mass appeal ....

They never had any. I guess the way stevie was portrayed in pirates of silicon valley was pretty dead on.

Sony it is.

Realistically, the computer is only as good as its user.

You need to stay on top of organization because macs will not be organized unless you are organized.

I personally had a rough time because I left crap piling, with docs and vids and pics and all sorts of information.... Then I realized that my mac was a mess and had to spend about four hours just getting everything in its correct folder.

I start University on the 22nd of September, I have a two weeks fresher week so I think I can wait, and probably should so I don't break it in them first couple of weeks!

NVIDIA chipsets replace those from Intel in next-gen Macs

This new idea of getting Nvidia chipset instead of Intel's is very interesting. If they do that, probably there also could be some event like keynote where Steve or someone else from Apple will present their move towards Nvidia. September is going to be a really interesting month.
