:D

Quite frankly, the reason I won't be updating as of yet because I feel that the impending MacBook Pro update will just be a "bump." WWDC is the mainstage for the Pro equipment, and I feel that is when we will see new Apple Cinema Displays and a REAL "NEW" MacBook Pro.

The Penryn update is actually considered a "Santa Rosa Refresh." It still possesses the same mobile Intel 965 chipset and wireless wi-fi link. Montevina will have sure-fire HD support (HD/DVD & Blu-ray), will be 40% smaller than Penryn, brand new Cantiga chipset, and possible to have Wi-Max. Intel admitted that when Montevina is released, that is when we will see smaller and lighter laptops. Best of all, it's going to be released MID-2008, and what rolls around that time.... thats right. WWD

So let the true MacBook Pro update...wait.... REPLACEMENT.. wait begin! :D

/raise hand for official wait

well, you know, i am planning to get a macbook pro in the next 2 years or so -- (for college) - so i am really hopeful that HD support and HD screens are going to be out... also, i am looking forward to more powerful lighter and cooler running notebooks - so put me on the list!! =D

CS/Tech students pay only $1800 plus state tax for a beautiful low-end(even though you can consider it a very-high end MacBook). I am getting one without any hesitation because I don't want to be a guinea pig beta tester if the MacBook is new. If it is just an update, who cares? They update every few months. The last thing it is is obsolete/old/etc.

Wow I just purchased the low-end MBP and I must say its amazing. Its plenty for me and I'm actually thinking I'll like this one much better than the redesigned. I love the keyboard and the overall design is legendary. I'm so happy and have not even a single bit of regret for not waiting. Best wishes to you all with whichever you choose. Just wanted to share my experience. God Bless!

Where on earth did you pull that figure from? No Mac costs near that. MBPs for students start at less than half that amount...

Assuming you live in NH. Baseline MBP for students cost $1799. $1799*2 = $3598 < $2500 ? What?

opinions opinions... i'll lay low on "my humor" so people stop complaining about it and we can get back to the matter at hand... the new MBP

Two years and you're already looking for notebooks? I'd want to shoot myself after a month of lusting and knowing that I couldn't touch for two years. (It was bad enough for me when I needed to wait two months for finical aid to come through...)

Do you really think 1£=1$ US?

I wish. it's more like 1 euro = 1.5 dollars. That trip to Germany isn't happening anytime soon.

Edit: didn't know that sign as for the pound. No offense. Now I know and knowledge is power!

ya dude... not cool

Super not cool.

My thoughts on the whole situation were simple. Montevina refresh with processors running in the 2.5 - 3.06 gHz range. Case redesign with Nehalem. But with all this talk of custom chip sets, who knows. They could do something really surprising. Like a smaller size factor (which would make use of a case redesign) with a 2.66 - 3.06 Penryn or a lower speed 2.2-ish quad core.

You start a full month after we do!! WHY???

Not sure :/, In the UK majority start late September. We haven't had a back to school offer yet I still wondering when that will come and end .

When Apple release a new Macbook / Pro to they tend to make it available around the globe within the same week?

Anybody know when these new MBP's will be out?

I'm really tossing and turning what to buy. I have enough money, I'm just waiting out, whether I should wait for the new MBP or if I should just buy a 24" iMac 2.8Ghz.

hmmm

Here's to Calpella... ;)
Montevina won't exactly be awe inspiring. Calpella & Nehalem sure will be.

Quick question: If I buy from the States, I can't use my student discount? (I live in Canada).
