Soooooo......are we AT LAST going to know all the truth next Tuesday? :) Where can I watch that journalists' reports? I usually check BBC, CNN and EuroNews so I hope they'll show such an event :)

I personally trust macrumors to give us info about :apple: :)

That was a misprint. It's a Dell media event. Do a little Googling.
I agree it looks like they meant to say Dell. Why else would Dell unveil their products at an Apple media event? I don't think Jobs is that kind!

But thanks m1stake.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Hello Darth Vader.

Quad cores aren't gonna hit the MBP for a while now, get real. The next update will not have them.
Completely agreed. The 2.53 GHz quad-core is too hot while the 2.27 GHz quad-core is too slow (in clock speed). Even with Nehalem I doubt quad-core will make it into the MacBook Pro, as the GHz discrepancy may not be solved.

It has been hinted that mobile Nehalem will be released on a 32 nm process, which should allow quad-cores to come to the MacBook Pro.

how much better it that then the current Montevina?
It should be 80% faster than the 2.8 GHz 35 W Core 2 Duo and 65% faster than the 3.07 GHz 45 W Core 2 Extreme assuming perfect scaling and a multicore-savvy task. Actual speed advantages would be somewhat lower.

Gosh fudging darn it! [censored] nothing like a spike of hope for an earlier release, then getting it crushed. I hope that guy who typed the misprint feels horrible! haha

So in conclusion we are expecting a complete revamp of the MacBook Pro line: processor, case, ram, hd, gpu, etc and expect it to be released early september?

Assistant manager at an Apple store talked to me a bit as I was shopping for an iMac and told me the refreshes "usually" come out after the back to school promotion is over. September does seem to be the logical time for it, but it isn't like he had any inside information just experience from working at Apple for so long.

ram and HD?

i seriously dont think they are going to DDR3 are they?

and HD? what? SSD? a little too small for a "pro" notebook

makes sense, but the Santa Rosa refresh came one month INTO the BTS sale last year

We're expecting it, but I'm not sure it's "in conclusion."

If they don't, there's not much point to a faster front side bus.

800Mhz DDR2 is an upgrade that would make use of the new chipset.

DDR3 would be cool, but it's still fairly pricey compared to DDR2.

Compare these three 2x1GB SO-DIMM sets from Crucial:

DDR2 667 - $40

DDR2 800 - $45

DDR3 1066 - $94

You'll find that's pretty much the same for all sizes and manufacturers: Almost no price difference for speed, be it DDR2 or DDR3, but go from DDR2 to DDR3, or double the capacity, and you pay twice as a much.
