Sorry, I can't believe the aluminum body. There are too many antennas in this thing to allow them to do that. Look at the size of the antenna cover on the first iPhone...this one has to stay plastic.

We'll know come Tuesday, though. At least I think so. With the Pre release imminent...I could see them releasing a new iPhone within a month or two.

See this is where I don't understand the argument against aluminum. If this is true, then how do the MB & MBP operate. Some may say, 'Well they have a screen and keyboard that the signal can go through.' So does the iPhone. I'm not trying to argue, but I think they may be able to rework aluminum into the design without interfering with signal that much.

Just my 2cents. :)

What I don't get about the whole thing, and what leads me to believe the whole post was just not legit...how does having copy and paste available to only a few apps save battery life? The phone still has to keep the copied info in memory at all times so that in can be pasted into one of the special apps. It's not like it has to keep a copy for each app...this just doesn't make sense.

And really...how much memory can copy really use on a phone short of someone copying an entire e-book?

I don't get that either.

True, but Apple also claimed that the recessed headphone port in the first iPhone was to keep the device slim. How does that make sense?

Most laptops these days put all antennas in the free space around the LCD. This way the antennas are located away from many components in the laptop that could cause signal interference. However, it seems that the top cover of the unibody Macbooks is aluminum as well? Here's where the antennas and airport card are located in the new Macbooks: http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/First-Look/MacBook-Pro-15-Inch-Unibody/590/4

I'm not sure how mobile phone frequencies are affected by a thin aluminum obstacle, but the fact that the 1st gen iPhone had all the antennas located on the bottom where the plastic cover was located and the iPod Touch has it's WiFi antenna located in the top corner where there is plastic as well leads me to believe that it impedes it enough that having an entire metal backing isn't feasible.

FTR, im on the OP's side so when this does come true, i will laugh at those who didnt believe him :p

These are the pics the OP is talking of the unibody aluminum iPhone: https://www.macrumors.com/2009/02/12/leaked-photos-of-next-generation-iphone/

Thank You. I thought he might be talking about that one but was making sure I hadn't missed something. ;)

Haha, my thoughts as well. Oh and I'm fully prepared to be laughed at as well. :D

I don't see why they cant have a full aluminum back with maybe, I dunno, a plastic 'slit' of sorts along the bottom of the phone for frequencies to not be interfered. I know, most of you are thinking, "well they pretty much already did that with v.1", but I'm talking about smaller. Imagine seeing nearly the entire back in aluminum and maybe a 1/4" plastic strip on the bottom for antenna .... I dunno, I feel like I'm just rambling on about nothing now, time for bed. We'll see soon enough.

the design of the new iPhone will still have the curved back, but it will be aluminum design.

What happened to this? Or is that black unibody aluminum?

Wait, I've been missing this thread for about half an hour, is this seriously turning into a "matte vs black aluminum vs silver aluminum, that pic is fake vs real, is the OP bull shiitting us" thread.

My rule of thumb for most forums: Once a thread passes 3 pages, or has late night responders, chances are it becomes a mess.

If the NDA you signed is anything like the one I signed when I started working at Apple then you breached your contract by just mentioning having those screenshots. Also, what is friend's name I want to know if I know him.

It's natural to assume new hardware to accompany OS 3.0, but I wouldn't mix the two together as one.

Can you confirm or deny the OP's claims? :)

I agree. I'm thinking it will be like last year.

March- feature previews/software roadmap

June- WWDC iPhone hardware and software 3.0 announced and release date set.

Late June/Early July- Release of new software then hardware on the following day

Removing original PUSH notification and relegating it to just three is fail!!! Apple just got passed up by the Pre from the look of things so far.

unless apple has made their own magic metal that wont cripple radio signals (appleunium?) this thing will have no reception, i wont be upgrading until they kill off support for the 3G. but i am amped for tuesday, but i bet we wont see release till july.

Dude, chill. So are you saying that if Apple does release a 7 icon dock and limits copy/paste to certain apps due to battery issues, it's not plausible.

No, it's not plausible, there's no way that having copy and paste available to all apps would affect the battery life at all, and a 7 icon dock would make the icons too small to be usable, so no, they're not plausible.

Stop trying to defend this guy, from the NDA thing alone it's obvious he's a liar, that's not how NDAs work.

You wouldn't be forced to have a seven all dock, you can always take apps off the dock. It could also have stacks, four icons on the dock with three coming out on the stack, there is the 7.

And big whoop it he's lying. I too get the sense this isn't completely true, but I didn't harass him because of it.

Please  I'm hardly harrassing him. If he can't take the heat he should stay out of the fire, or at least make less retarded lies.
